I'm still trying to find the perfect bra. I used to wear Natori Feathers but then I figured out they I too shallow. This looked similar so thought I'd try it. It's also too shallow and the wires are slightly too wide. Other than that it seems to fit well, high gores bother me and I think I'm center fill so the plunge and gore are nice. Goes up kinda high for my preference next to my arms, but I think a cup size down I would quad in. Other than the feeling that it seems to be sliding down in the front, it's nice, but that feeling that's it being pushed down is distracting.

  2. Marcie Balconnet Bra (6831)

I love Cleo's bright yellow and randomly decided I just needed to have a yellow Marcie one day. They were sold out everywhere since it's such an old colorway, but I did find this one on Bratabase. I knew it would be too small soon when I got it (thanks pregnancy!) but I'm sure I'll eventually shrink back down to fit in it. I guess I'll have to update the review when I do.

Edit- over a year later, I’ve finally lost enough weight to fit in it. Still love the bright yellow and the very round shape. I have been unable to wear my 30FF beige Marcie because of ridiculous in-cup quadding that is visible even under a shirt. This Marcie, despite being smaller, does not noticeably have this problem for me.

    Didn't fit

I loved Kali in 30D but recently found that my cup size is getting a bit larger, so I decided to try this in a 28E. Unfortunately, this isn't quite the right size for me, and my 30D still fits much better.

First, my original Kali in 30D came with a very small band, at 22.4", whereas this one only measured 22.0", so there wasn't a huge difference in the band. The 22.4" was a perfect fit on me, but I found that this band is a touch small. It is tight enough that it causes the underwires to feel uncomfortable and a little painful. ... The band is already a firm one, and I've found with this type of band construction that there's a very fine line between snug and uncomfortably tight. Unfortunately this is the latter.

The cups are also a little odd to me, since they are only slightly wider than the 30D (+0.2"), but they are a lot deeper (+0.6"). The cups are also taller (+0.4"). The cups mostly felt ok, but I had some trouble filling out the increased depth and height at the top of the cup. Because of these proportions, it wasn't really suited for wide and short-rooted, FOB shapes like mine, whereas the 30D was a great shape match for me.

Aesthetically, this bra is super cute. I was drawn to the heart embroidery right away, and knew that I wanted to hunt this one down. I am pleased that the heart embroidery is as cute in person as it appeared online, and the small embroidered flowers on the lower cup in Lucy have been replaced with more hearts on Kali. There's also a cute little bow at the center gore and tonal picot edged elastic on the straps and lower band to up the frill factor, but these details are subtle and tasteful. However, I didn't love the neon pink color as it seemed a bit garish, which is a bummer since this was originally the color I was drawn to when I first discovered the style. My original Cerise is much prettier, IMO.

Sadly, I didn't end up adding a second Kali to my collection due to the fit in this size not being quite right.

    Fits

I purchased the Koko Muse in a 30D, but was disappointed that the band ran a little large. Unfortunately this style doesn't come in a 28DD and the smallest size is a 28E, which I also tried in the regular Koko and reviewed.

For the most part, I really like this bra for its intended purpose as a molded t-shirt bra. The cups are a nice shape on me and the fit is nice. I like the smooth matte microfiber fabric used, as it has a smooth, cool hand and doesn't snag easily. It has the look of athleisure wear, which I guess is the point. ... The regular Koko uses a shinier fabric that is more traditionally used in lingerie.

Despite not being a full band style, this feels a bit more secure than others, thanks to the wide bottom elastic on the band. The wider straps on this style compared to most US brands is a plus, although having some texture on the straps (like Marcie) would've been better. Although the Cleo Maddie is a perfect fit for me in the cups, this is a more versatile style.

It's too bad that this doesn't have a more TTS 30 band compared to other Cleo styles, that it doesn't come in 28DD, and that only Koko Muse is made with this matte fabric but doesn't come in core colors. I'd also love to see it done as a full band style, but I understand that this is based on the popular Neve cut, and not everybody loves full bands as much as I do. Still, a great molded t-shirt bra option!

    28E

    Didn't fit

I purchased the Koko Muse in a 30D, but was disappointed that the band ran a little large. Recently I've been overflowing in many 30D bras and thought I should try a band size down but a cup size up from my sister size to see if this would give me a little more room. This is how I got to the 28E (plus the fact that this style doesn't come in a 28DD). However, this size did not work out for me at all, and I'm totally baffled as to why.

The band is really tight, which is extremely odd to me as the band ... measurement is only 2 cm different between the 30D Koko Muse and the 28E Koko. Both bands are pretty firm, but I guess the Koko has slightly less give than Koko Muse. The main reason I tried a different size in the Koko Muse was because of the band, so I am bummed that there's such a big difference in the fit between the two band sizes.

Also, when comparing the measurements on my two bras, the cups of the 28E are marginally larger than the 30D. I'm talking 1 cm difference in the wire length, cup width, and cup depth. However, the cup height is 1.5 cm taller in the 28E. Just this marginal difference makes the cups feel a lot bigger to me, although it generally fits ok. The reason I marked the cups as a problem is that they feel too large, and I get some gapping when moving in the 28E whereas I don't have this problem in the 30D.

Other than that, I really like the rounded shape the Koko cut gives me. Despite not being a full band style, this feels a bit more secure than others, thanks to the wide bottom elastic on the band. The rest of the fit is pretty good on me, so I really wish this had worked out.

For some reason the cups on this run really big, there is a lacy part at the top of cups that has tons of extra space and therefore did not fit me even though I fit most other bras in this size.

Ouch this one was a mess.

I have wide roots, tall thin roots and need immediate projection at the wire. I have even vertical fullness and am full on the outside. Very soft squishy tissue as well.

This was a major shape mismatch for me. I tried it because someone mentioned is was good for full on the outside breasts. And it might be for someone else.

    Issues I had:

    1. Wrinkling in the bottom of the cup. I think this bra was just too shallow for me. I couldn't get it to stay in my IMF .

    2. Wires- my tissue is squishy so I don't normally get alot of ... pain from wires sitting on tissue or issues with wires poking my armpit. Not so with this bra. I think the wires were too tall and narrow. At the very least they didn't fit my shape.

    3. Quadboob. I think this goes back to the bra being too shallow. I felt like it was compressing my breasts and because my tissue is soft, it escaped out of the edges.

    4. Gaping at the top. Soft tissue issues again. Too tall of cups for my soft tissue that likes to pool at the bottom.

    5. Shape. I looked very flattened out from the side and the front.

    Soft tissue problems.

I am wide rooted with tall thin tissue. Need immediate projection at the wire. Splayed roots with close set breasts at the top. Full on the outside and even verticalfullness. Very soft breast tissue.

Man I wanted this to work. This bra had a great narrow gore. And it gave me a nice rounded, lifted shape.

However I get quadboob at the top. With soft tissue it looks more like my breasts are trying to spill over the edge of the bra. Not a good look.

I kept having to readjust the bra to contain the sides of my breast. Not sure if the wires ... just weren't wide enough or the band was too loose. Or maybe soft tissue just needs higher wings/ side support.

I also have an issue with the lip of the bra. It's super obvious under shirts. I wish they had thinned out the material so it blended with the shape of your breast more.

I tried a cup size up but it had strap gap and still couldn't contain the sides of my breasts. I'm going to try a band size down and a cup size or two up and see what happens

I have wide roots, thin tall roots and need immediate projection at the wire. I am full on the outside, and have even vertical fullness. I have splayed roots that start about 1 finger apart. However what seems to affect my fit the most is the fact that I have very soft breast tissue. Like seriously squishy... thanks kids!

So for the other squishy boobs out there here's what I ran into:

    1. In cup quadboob. That stiff bottom fabric and stretch lace combo is probably great for fitting a variety of breasts. However my breasts see the stretch lace's slight give as an opportunity to break free. ... I actually didn't even notice it until I put a shirt on. But wow is it noticeable under clothes.

    2. Gaping lace at the top. *sigh* Gaping at the top seems to be a trend for me. Particularly around the bra strap. I have even breasts when I do the 90 degree test. (The hand bra test is hilarious with soft boobs. What's your shape when supported by your hands? I don't know. What shape would you like me to make?) I have tall thin roots. My soft tissue pools at the bottom of my bra cup so it's almost like having short roots but I still can't wear closed in top styles because it cuts into that thin tissue up top pretty noticeably.

    3. Gore is too wide/high. This one is less about the squish and more because my splayed roots start close together. Not a ton of tissue up there but enough to make this gore uncomfortable.

This bra is beautiful but the wires are too short/narrow and dig into my underarms. They barely make it to the edge of my breast tissue. The lace on the upper cup is stretchier than the fabric itself so it creates a quad boob effect. I may try a larger size to see if that alleviates the problem with the wires and quadboob.

My Stats: FOB, projected, close set, firm and dense tissue.
Size: Normally 28FF, got this in a 28G (sized up because it's padded)

    Bra Stats
Appearance: 3 part half cup bluish grey bra with a flower pattern.

Cups: deep projected cups with narrow wires. The cups are a good fit for my FOB shape. I think I could have sized up one more cup for a better fit. I do find there is some quadding on my bigger side.

    Band: firm band, good support.

Gore: gore is of mid height and tacks

Straps: wide-set. Very thin and stretchy. I dislike the straps very much but not enough to stop wearing the bra.

    Shape Under Clothing: round shape

    30D

    Didn't fit

This is my second attempt at Mimi, though I haven't been able to find one in my ideal size of 28DD. I've tried on two now in the 30 bands (30D and 30DD), and oddly enough, the band seems to run one size large. I typically wear 30 bands in Cleo unlined bras, but these were absolutely huge on me! However, despite the band issue, I have some reservations that Mimi would even fit me in my ideal size.

I've tried two other Cleo lined styles, Maddie and Juna. Maddie fits me perfectly, while Juna is a little off. Both of these styles are ... a bit shallower than Mimi, and Maddie is quite significantly wider in the cup. I felt that Mimi's cups were too narrow (in an unlined cup this measurement could work, but in a rigid cup, it didn't seem roomy enough), but also too deep. Usually this 3 panel "seashell" construction is tough for me as FOB, short roots because it can be too open at the top and cause gapping, but Mimi's cups actually lay flat against the skin. Visually, the cups look like they fit, but I can feel that they do not. There's empty space at the fullest point of the cup, and I could use more width.

This cup shape mismatch, plus the giant band measurement (though the band is solidly constructed, I'll give it that), means that this bra totally didn't work for me. I also found the cups to feel much stiffer and more "padded" than I would like. Since I am used to wearing lightly lined bras with softer, more flexible foam, I couldn't get comfortable with the heavier foam used in Mimi's cups. Ultimately, I don't think this style is for me, and I don't think it is for other FOB, short root folks.

    30D

    Fits

When I first tried Lucy, I purchased 28D and 30D as my preferred size of 28DD wasn't available. I originally decided that 30D was a good fit, but after trying and fitting dozens more bras, I realized that I don't really love the fit as much as I thought.

Visually, Lucy's cups tend to look shorter and smaller than other balconnet bras (look at photos from other users of this size and you'll see what I mean), and the fullest point is lower in the cup and more projected than what I am used to. Because of this, I really fill out the bottom of the cup, ... but the top embroidered panel ends up being a little empty. This is fine on my larger side, but creates quite a bit of gapping on my smaller side when I move. I also feel that the main cup doesn't feel as supportive as I'd like, so I thought I would try sizing up to 30DD, with 28D being far too small for me.

30DD fit me the best in the lower cup (the mesh portion of the cup), and I feel much more secure and supported in the cup. However, it demands a lot more upper fullness than I have, so the embroidered portion is SUPER empty. Also, the band is definitely too big for me. Styling-wise, I like the soft mesh fabric and embroidery on Lucy. Both are very comfortable for everyday wear and feel very similar to Marcie.

However, Lucy's cups just have this feel of not being very supportive on me, and part of the problem is that after scooping and filling out the upper cup in 30D, my smaller side becomes empty again after moving. I think this feeling of not having a secure fit is because the bra doesn't have a full band. The elastic doesn't run through the cradle and under the cups, so the cups aren't really being hugged against my body and held snug. They are a bit floaty, and as a result, I end up floating around in the cups and not getting a great fit.

Ultimately, I think Lucy's proportions aren't quite built for me. After initially not being a fan of Marcie, I feel that Marcie fits me better than Lucy after a minor wire reshaping. This seems odd as I was told Lucy is for FOB and Marcie for FOT, and I feel that I lean FOB, shallow on top. Good thing there are so many options in the world of bras to choose from!

Calluna Makes sense why they fit similarly but somehow are still different! Marcie technically fits but it’s not as flattering on me in the same way as Lucy, I can tell it is built for a different shape despite having similar measurements. I ended up bending the wires on Marcie a bit to make her fit better.

    • Marcie is more open on top and Lucy is more closed on top for these reasons, they fit FOT and FOB breasts respectively. If you are even, Lily is your girl. Also discontinued but grab it if you see your size. I’m a fabulous shape.

    Didn't fit

Despite a rough start, Marcie and I are now very intimate friends, and my interest is now piqued anytime I hear a style is based on the Marcie block. However, sometimes "based on Marcie" is like when a movie is "based on a true story:" it's not the same as the original. Unfortunately, Blake and Marcie are more like fraternal twins in that regard. They may share the same DNA with the same block and cup measurements, but I found the fit to be quite different.

Most notably, the Blake I received measured significantly larger in the band than my Marcies of equivalent size, about 3 ... cm larger on the flat. The band was huge and rode up badly, which definitely threw off the fit. The wing construction should be identical to Marcie as both styles seem to share the same powermesh material, but due to the larger spec, would not stay in place no matter what I did.

The cups measure identical to Marcie in width and depth, although this one was a little taller in the cups than all 4 Marcies I have owned. The cups are lined in the same nonstretch tulle as Marcie's, while the outer cups are made from a soft and stretchy geo lace. The upper panel differs from Marcie as it is a double layer cup with elastic binding. Marcie's upper cup is embroidered single layer tulle with no elastic. Both styles share the same underwire.

This upper cup difference explains why Blake fits me so differently from Marcie. I feel that the flexibility of Marcie's upper cup is what allows it to fit me so well, because it can stretch out to sit smoothly against a shallower top, or curve to fit a fuller top. Blake's upper cup is much less flexible in comparison, and acts like a more closed-off upper cup. Thus, while the elastic edge sits against my body, the panel doesn't lay flat, and there's empty space in the panel as I am not full enough on top to fill this out. The elastic top could also cause problems with tall roots.

Because of the fit of the upper cups, I won't be trying another Blake to try to get a TTS band. This style is simply not for me, but could work for a Marcie wearer who is fuller on top but doesn't have tall roots.

This is too shallow for me. Size is good and its ok in a tshirt, even if a little flat. It somehow manages to be a bit small in the cup, bulges out my inner fullness and gapes at the top corner... overall not a great fit. Large in the band, but still ok. Brings my wide set breasts too much together. Lace is a bit funny, very stretchy so you'd think it would be forgiving for inner fullness but not on me...
