    Sadly the straps are a tiny bit too short for me.

    Didn't fit

    I'm still looking for a properly fitting strapless bra. This is yet another one in the "wrong shape" category. Some reviews said it was shallow, others said not so much, so I figured I'd at least see for myself. In my humble opinion, this is definitely on the shallow/wide end of the spectrum. The cups are also too tall and closed for my petite frame, despite having wide shoulders.

    The band is definitely snug. Almost too snug. Two strips of silicone both top and bottom of band, but not along the cups.
    Wings are tall, good for controlling side spillage. Boning under the arms.
    Low gore fit well with my close set shape.
    Cups, like I said, are shallow and wide. The wires sat low on my ribs and left empty space at the bottom. And at the same time quadded all around the top of the cups.

    Bottom line: if it fits your shape it would give a nice profile. The plunge would work well with low-cut tops. And the band would be very supportive.

    Didn't fit

    About this Bra

    Purchasing:
    * $23.19 on Amazon with free Prime shipping & returns (not Amazon Wardrobe)
    * not available in neutral colors (only bright, bold colors)

    Band:
    * One layer of stretch mesh outside boning (between boning and clasps).
    * Band between cup/wire and wing boning constructed of non-stretch lace lined with non-stretch mesh.
    * Elastic at top of band.
    * Wing support: boning.
    * Continuous band - band straight under wires (a short longline, will not provide waist shaping)
    * Back close with 3 columns of hooks.
    * Extra boning beneath each apex to prevent rolling/bunching.

    Straps:
    * smooth elastic
    * soft (don't stand up on their own)
    * full adjust
    * straight back (not leotard)

    Cups:
    * 3-seam (4-piece) half-cup (top ... edge is diagonal, not horizontal, so I can't call this a balconette)
    * unpadded, stiff underwire
    * Upper panel is mesh with only vertical stretch (no horizontal stretch) and lined with non-stretch mesh.
    * Lower panels are non-stretch lace lined with non-stretch mesh.
    * Soft cups (no padding or molding).

    Fit

    About me: petite with wide horizontal oval, slightly conical breasts
    * average projection
    * wide-set (3 fingers width of space between breasts)
    * very wide roots (extend past the mid-axillary line)
    * even horizontal fullness (just barely outer full)
    * short root height, average vertical placement
    * mix of firm & soft tissue (front molds to shape of bra, sides push wimpy wires away)
    * conical shape (but will squish to round)
    * full on top (2/4 shape, not even or very full) - BUT functionally even to FOB due to short roots and soft tissue
    * petite (5'3") so have narrow frame
    * front (anterior) rib flares

    Band:
    * length: fits
    * wings: barely high enough
    * no axillary skin spillage
    * Smooths my rib flares nicely.

    Gore: Comfortable, tacks, good spacing, height fine.

    Cups:
    * Cups far too big. Fabric only covers breasts (with gapping) and provides no shaping.
    * Wires wide enough (SO RARE).
    * Bottom of cup filled (enough immediate projection at the wire).
    * Upper, outer edge of cup cuts into tail of Spence.

    Straps:
    * not too far apart
    * adjust short enough

    Comfort & Fit Summary
    * I tried this bra because it looked pretty in pictures. The mini-longline band is very flattering (accents my narrow ribcage).
    * I chose this size based off a measurements search (cup depth & wire width) here on bratabase. The cups were wide enough, but far too big, so this style may be too projected for me.
    * Think about trying a 32E or 32F. According to measurements table, as cup size drops in this range, cup depth decreases but cup width stays the same.

    About this Bra

    Purchasing:
    * $52.25 on Amazon with free Prime shipping & returns (not Amazon Wardrobe)
    * fun, non-neutral colors are available

    Band:
    * One layer of stretch mesh.
    * Elastic at top of band.
    * Wing support: soft seaming.
    * Continuous band - wires lower than wings.
    * Back close with 3 columns of hooks.

    Straps:
    * ridged elastic
    * soft (don't stand up on their own)
    * full adjust
    * leotard back

    Cups:
    * 2-seam (3-piece) half-cup (top edge is diagonal, not horizontal, so I can't call this a balconette)
    * unpadded, stiff underwire
    * Upper panel is non-stretch lace (unlined).
    * Lower panels are two layers of non-stretch mesh.
    * Soft cups (no padding or molding).

    Fit

    About me: petite with wide horizontal oval, slightly ... conical breasts
    * average projection
    * front (anterior) rib flares

    Band:
    * length: fits
    * wings: too short, boobs escape
    * no axillary skin spillage

    Gore: Comfortable, tacks, good spacing, height fine.

    Cups:
    * Gives a pleasantly round shape.
    * Wires too narrow.
    * Top of cup gaps (perhaps because so mush of my breast is outside the wires).
    * Bottom of cup filled (enough immediate projection at the wire).

    Straps:
    * too far apart, slip
    * adjust short enough

    Comfort & Fit Summary
    * Recommended for giving conical breast shapes (like mine) a nice round shape. It did this, but had other fit issues.
    * Tried in multiple sizes (reviewed separately), all with a crummy fit. Once the cups were wide enough (32F), they were too big. Finally decided that this style is too projected for me and gave up.

    The shape is all wrong for me, the look under clothes is not smooth as the seam cuts too low is a problem for my center full shape and soft tissue. So I quad within the cup but there is weirdly still space in the lace for centerfullness. Idk, maybe this works for firmer tissue? The fabric is not great kind of scratchy. The underwires cannot be shaped to suit my narrow cup needs. Definitely a disappointment.

    Band:
    Continuous, stretch mesh with elastic at top of band.
    Seaming for wing support.

    Cups:
    Two layers of soft, non-stretch mesh.
    Three-piece balconette cup.
    Unpadded underwire.
    Fit: Quad boob. Cups far too narrow. Gave me an unattractive oval shape.

    Ridged elastic with leotard attachment.
    Full adjust.
    Fit: good

    Fit under clothing:
    Not smooth under tight Tee.

    Fits

    I previously tried the 36J - Cleo » Hettie Balconnet Bra (9011), and was somewhat horrified by how pointy it was. I thought maybe if I sized down in the cup it would pull things in a little. It did... a little. I am learning that my breasts are so projected and so soft that they will just expand forward into all the depth any cup will offer. They would be happy to go straight out for six inches, it would seem. A smaller cup corrals them a little and forces them to take a nicer shape. But in this case, not enough. The cups seem to fit, but maybe I could go even smaller. Just no real reason to do it, since I have Panache Jasmine and Thea that already work much better for me.

    Didn't fit

    I have previously reviewed the Marcie in 36J - Cleo » Marcie Balconnet Bra (6831) and 34J - Cleo » Marcie Balconnet Bra (6831) . With this one I was hoping for a happy medium of cups that didn't gape at the top and a shape that wasn't pulled quite so high. But even with the black colorway, the band was too stretchy and the cups gaped almost as much as the 36J. Go figure. So if I end up keeping a Marcie, I guess it will be the 34J. Haven't decided.

    • If you want to mention other bras in your Reviews you can do that by using the @ + name of the bra. Type @*cleo marice (remove the * ) and then it gives you suggestions from your bras or you can also just mention the model. It will look like this Cleo Marcie Balconnet Bra (6831) and will link directly to the bra.
      It is a feature make it easier so you don't have to post the link everytime you mention another bra in your review. I hope I could explain it properly. If not feel free to ask me again.

      What about a 34HH? Or it could be you’re not quite fot enough for Marcie to work? I don’t know, Marcie is so built for all the fot, but it also looks like the wires are too wide and tall on this one so maybe you could size down one more cup.

    • 1

      alisa , thanks for the help with links! I knew there must be a better way! :)

    • 1

      cupandahalf , it may be a shape mismatch - it does seem to give me that bean shape instead of round. But... I ordered a 34HH to try anyway, because Amazon, so why not? Plus, the word on reddit is that Marcie is being discontinued, so maybe can't try for much longer.

    • 1

      Wow, Marcie being discontinued? Hopefully they will come up with something less itchy.

    • They discontinue Marcie? Does it not sell anymore? Or they bring out a better version? I remember when it came out in 2012 and was all the rage here. Good old times :D

    I received this from Ebay on auction for cheap af. Shipping was stupid expensive though. The bra arrived and the parcel smelled like an entire bottle of fabric softener.

    It was overwashed and stretched out, discolored pink from original nude, and reeked (I mean absolutely reeked) of cheap soap or fabric softener. It was a bad choice to buy it but I learned that one does not buy used bras from Ebay unless they're unopened mint condition!

    So, since I couldn't touch or keep it anywhere without everything giving me a migraine, I cut it open and saved the wires. Good riddance.
    If anyone wants 28FF Cleo Marcie wires, hmu.

      oh god UGGGGH I am so sorry! At least it was very cheap. Yeah, I do not buy clothes on ebay unless they are brand new with tags.

      I suspect that the stench you thought was fabric softener was either from one of those no-rinse lingerie wash products--some of them are fragranced, and if the user takes that no rinse approach to mean they NEVER have to do a proper wash and rinse, it can really build up... or else a strong fabric deodorizer spray (in the USA they often use the brands Glade or Febreze, not sure if those exist in Norway but I imagine there are other brands there). Probably used because the owner was a heavy smoker. Either way yuck yuck yuck.

    • wendybien Oh yea I learned my lesson there 😂

      I find no-rinse soaps/wash producys to be such a strange concept! I'd never heard of them before I got into bras and even then I still don't know why you don't rinse out the soap.
      Alfhajdhdb never washing and rinsing your bras properly :s I can't imagine not rinsing the soap and grime out. And I also can't imagine using a deodorizer on fabric?? Like why don't you jusf wash it?? Bottom line is yeah, gross. But I super appreciate your comment because I felt so bad about it 😂

    • corvidsandtea unfortunately if clothes or other items are exposed to enough cigarette smoke, even a good wash will not truly get rid of the smell. Plus, if someone's whole house, hands, etc. reek of smoke then by the time the bra is dried after washing it probably picks up more smoke smell...
      And the no-rinse concept disturbs me too! But people get scared by the marketing which claims bras are SOOOO FRAGILE and cannot be washed normally... To be fair those "soak" washes still dissolve and remove a lot of dirt. When people try them, they are usually impressed with the result i.e. a bra that looks, smells and feels clean. After that they are reassured so they just continue using it. And the manufacturers aren't very clear/honest about the fact that there are consequences if you never wash conventionally.

    Fits

    The Cleo Marcie is one of my all time favorites, and the nude version is only little less favorite than the colorful Marcies. The shape and style is equally great and it fits pretty well.

    This colorway is OK. I don't particularly enjoy nude colors in underwear or in general, but it's a Marcie so I like it anyway. The bow at the gore is a lot bigger than all the other Cleo styles I have and I really like it! It even has little dots on it like the bra and I'm such a fan.

    The fit is good, not excellent but decent. It seems this 30F is ... a little small for me, even when my boobs are on the smaller side of the cycle. It feels and looks that the cup height isn't as tall as I would like it to be, so I'm more liable to quadding or spilling out of it. The fire doesn't completely tack but it's not a big problem, it's mostly a reflection of that the cups are a little small. Otherwise, the band is comfortable, the wires don't hurt and the straps don't move too much. All in all an OK+ bra.

    Holy cannoli! Ellis' band is T-I-G-H-T. My underbust measures approx. 29 - 30" depending on my weight fluctuations (& I have comfortably worn 30/65 bands in Cleo, Panache, Freya, Avocado, Comexim, EM, etc) but this one definitely needs an extender. The fabric that the band is made of doesn't have much inherent give, so breaking it in could take some time.

    I was also surprised by the somewhat stiff material of the cups. The lace on top, especially, has zero stretch (unlike, say, Jasmine). For some confusing reason, this bra gives me a very pointy shape whereas all other Cleo's I have tried (Marcie, Skye, Lily & Blake) ... give a fairly rounded profile. I'm not quite sure what it is about the construction of THIS particular bra that gives me torpedo-boob... but it's not all that flattering. Something about my shape doesn't like this bra.

    Aesthetically, this bra is stunning on the hanger. The variation of color (especially the peach, green, and shades of pink) are undeniably lovely. It's such a cheery spring/summer bra! The fit in the end, though, is subpar & uncomfortably tight.

    I have been looking for ABTF and haven't found it yet so take this with a grain of salt since I don't yet know what a bra that fits really feels like! I'm writing this mostly for myself so I'll remember what I thought about this bra.

    I am FOB with even/somewhat full on top, soft tissue, projected, roots on the narrower side. I think I have more sensory sensitivity than the average person and my most crucial fit issue is wire comfort - I think stiff, wide wires are a no-go for me, and I need bras with immediate projection to avoid pressure on the wires.

    I will ... be returning the Cleo Mimi after a few brief try-ons and sitting with it on for a few minutes, but it's my first brush with that elusive bra that fits. It stays in the IMF quite well and I didn't feel immediate discomfort from the underwires. I like the low gore since it's one less potential pressure point for the wires. This is one of the first bras I've tried on with narrower wires and I think that definitely improved my comfort level overall, but there are still some pressure points along the outer edges of the wires. But the main reason I'm returning it is because the cup rims don't sit flush with my skin - they sit up a bit, and are visible under my shirts. Maybe it would work better for firmer tissue or someone slightly more FOT, I'm not sure.

    I'll definitely be trying more bras from this brand!

    This really is a fun print. It’s a bit wide for me- but I have lots of inner fullness and very little outer. I often prefer bras just under 5” wide, which almost don’t exist in a 30F. It’s a bit too closed off for me at top also. I do better with the Kayla and Lily for example.

    So this bra and Jasmine are my favourite bras.

    I absolutely love the way this bra fits in the cup. Lovely lift and no wrinkles. It's my dream cup.
    The wires on this sit in my IMF, where Jasmine's wires don't sit *quite* in my IMF, but I get enough support from the Jasmine that I find this fine.

    HOWEVER, this bra is very painful for me in the strap area. The straps are way too wide for me and they don't adjust long enough, which means that they're both digging in and sitting right on my shoulders towards my arms. I don't have this problem with Jasmine, but I find ... that the cup on Jasmine has a few small wrinkles on the bottom of the cup for me (just a bit too much space down there). I have most of my fullness at the apex, rather than at the wire.

    It's a gorgeous looking bra, really cute with the bows and lace and some really lovely colourways.

    I am pretty even top and bottom and medium width. I have the most projection at the nipple. Probably about medium projection. I have to bend the wires because I've learned I have a weird shaped rib cage which is narrower at the bottom and flares out a lot where the top of the wires on both gore side and underarm side sit. After I bend them the cup fits perfectly.
    I've learnt that I might fit better in a 36F because I also wear this and Jasmine with an extender.

    I wish I could find a bra that is like this but with the straps like Jasmine has. They're just too far apart on Marcie. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":-(" />
