My shape: short and narrow roots, projected FOB breasts and sensitive skin.
This is my favourite bra ever. I have been wearing it for 2-3 months now. The wings of this bra are especially short, which makes it amazingly comfortable. The wires are quite narrow and the gore is relatively low and narrow too. The fabric is very soft and silky while being rigid. The cups are not strechy at all. The band however is made of strech mesh and it is very stretchy. I am already on the 2nd hook. This is the only downsite to this bra in my opinion. It give a very roundes and uplifted shape, ...similar to Cleo Lily Balconnet Bra (7351) and Cleo Marcie Balconnet Bra (6831), but without the discomfort of their long wires. The lace on top of the cup is thick and shows a little bit under thin shirts.
This bra might not fit well for women with FOT or tall roots as the cup might cut in. For women who like tight bands, i suggest going down a band size and one cup size up. Compared to 30GG - Cleo » Hettie Balconnet Bra (9011) , the band is looser and the cups are smaller. Read more 101 more words
This is an impressive bra. I can't tolerate Cleo's narrow straps, narrow bands, hard wires, and wider gore width. But, Curvy Kate has improved all those Cleo characteristics with their Daydreamer.
I also loved it when I tried it but I think it was a cup size too small. Now it's sold out. I really hope the Vegas is just like it. It's cut the same way.
cupandahalf Vegas seems to have a similar cut, but the colors are very similar... and not my taste at all! I juste bought a green Cascade, I hope it will fit me as well as daydreamer!
I sized up to a 34JJ because I've found CK's unlined balconies to run a bit small. I do have some wrinkling on the outside of the cup and at the very top of the lace, but I'm not sure I could go down a cup.
This bra is really well made and comfy. All the material on the bra is very soft. As usual with CK's larger cup sizes, I wish the straps were wider and scaled to a larger, heavier breast. These bothered me less than CK's straps usually do, though.
Again: super comfy. I tried really hard to convince myself to keep this bra, but I ...just can't justify it when it gives me such an obvious bubble/quadboob where the lace meets the laminate cup. There's only a very thin piece of elastic at the top of the stretch lace which is the usual culprit for this kind of quadboob issue, but I guess I can't tolerate anything there. The only unlined bras that don't give me this effect at all are Panache Envy and Clara. This bra is constructed very similarly to those two, with the exception of the elastic and side support on Envy/Clara. I'm really tempted to keep this one and see if I can't remove the piece of elastic. Read more 108 more words
I pulled the elastic in at the top of the gore and tacked it there, making it a firmer fit, and that removed the in cup quadding for me. As a test, pull the top of the lace edge in towards the gore and see if that helps at all.
cupandahalf *facedesk* I'm an idiot. When I was trying it on I actually pulled at the lace a little and thought gosh, if only the lace was tighter! I never thought of sewing the lace to the gore. I'll try that before removing the elastic (after I posted this review I convinced myself to keep it).
Lol. I know right?! I have bought this bra a number of times and returned it because of this problem. I hope it works out!
My shape: Pendulous, projected, somewhat narrow, somewhat short rooted, soft tissue.
Band and cups fit true to size. There is some major uneven band tension on this bra. Admittedly I have that in most bras (top is always looser than the bottom), but the Florence is definitely worse than others. The band is also too loose for me, but that's because I'm annoyingly in between a 30 and 32 band right now. Love the 3 hook band in an FF cup! I wish more brands would do that. So comfy.
I've seen people say they have uneven tension because their ribs are V shaped instead of || if that makes sense. Some people actually fasten it unevenly so it fits them better.
I do the opposite because my back is A shaped! But it really helps.
I'm angry about the fit of this bra. First of all it has taken a month to get to me. In that time I've lost weight so the band doesn't fit me. It's too loose. The cups are a little loose, gaping a bunch on my little side and a bit on my larger side unless I hoist the straps way up. When I do that the side of the cup is in my armpit. That's partly because the wires are about half an inch wider than my 38J Cabaret. The straps are Curvy Kate's more stupid style (shiny, stretchy, and narrower) and hurt ...because they have to be cinched so much. They are also really really wide set. Finally, when will CK put softer fabric along the edge of the bottom band? The Ellace is a good start.
The rest of the bra is supportive and soft. I would size down in the band to get a fit closer to 40 inches. If this was a 38J, the fit might be ok. I think the tops of the cups are slightly more open than the Cabaret because the embroidery of the Cabaret cuts in more.
I love the look of this bra. I've been waiting for it for 6 months. I love purple, midmod looks, and the Cabaret Plunge which felt too tight and cut in slightly so I thought it would be perfect just a size (band and cup) up. My husband was also looking forward to seeing me in this bra. I even bought matching undies, which I never do!
Now I'm kicking myself that I didn't get a 38J. I can't send the bra back because of international shipping prices. I can't find a 38J anywhere either. I'm wondering if I should alter the bra to get a better fit or just sell it online. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />
Edit 4/1/17: so I kept this bra, took off the band and straps, replaced them with better ones (although I know now how to fix too wide set CK bra straps so I didn't have to do that but whatever) and lowered the sides. Now that I am a cup size bigger there is little gapping on my smaller side so I took in the top a little bit on the smaller side. This is a really good fit. I have been going through my pictures and I think I have been squeezing into too-small cups for a while trying to get shorter cups for my very short roots. I think I filled this cup out pretty well in the bottom, especially compared to my 38Js which squished me up instead of allowing me to extend my breasts out the way they need to. Taking in the top basically allows me to make it a full coverage Plunge which is exactly what I need. Read more 393 more words
If you are returning to the UK, this may ship for $3.50. At least, that is what PayPal charges for international to the UK. Frustrating the variation from the same cuts. Sincerely, I hope the 38J fits precisely the way you require.
Too late. I got angry and altered it. Took a band and straps off a bra that doesn't fit but has a more center pull fit and sewed those on. Put in lower, narrower wires. Folded the gore over to take out the top bagginess and make it actually a plunge. Folded the wings over. It looks a little frankenbra right now but the fit is quite good actually and the plunge is perfect. I'm going to resew it more carefully when I get purple thread to make it more like it was supposed to be like that.
Me: Narrow roots, narrow shoulders, evenly round, lots of immediate projection, very soft tissue, fairly centre full, never met a gore I didn't like, left-heavey by more than a cup size, 31" underbust, but prefer tight band with extender. Panache, Freya size 30GG
This is a very different bra for CK. It has the same kind of material and shape as the Curvy Kate Eden Balcony Bra (CK2001) used to on the bottom cup, but it fits the cup smaller like the newer styles. The straps are a touch too short for me - pretty common for me - so I get a little in-cup quading. Otherwise, it is pleasantly narrow and the straps are narrow set too. The immediate projection is good and it takes my centre fullness well. It feels a lot like a Cleo, actually. The band is on the looser side of standard. I love the blue and pink shades used.
Today is the first day I've been able to wear this bra as it was originally too big. But thanks to some weight gain, I'm getting to really try it out today.
Me: slightly FOB, very soft tissue, very centerfull, narrow and high set roots, need lots of immediate projection. The bra that usually fits the best is CK Florence in 32H, so I assumed I would need a 32H in Daydreamer as well. Hint: I was wrong.
The Good: • It's a really pretty bra. It feels very pinup-y to me. • I like the laminated fabric of the lower part of the bra. • The straps are slightly stretchy and ...comfortable • The center projection and immediate projection are both fantastic in this bra.
The Not-So-Good: • I don't like the upper fabric. It's much looser than the lower fabric and less supportive, which gives me in-cup quadding and loose fabric on top. someone with firmer and more upper fullness than I may not have this problem. • This band is bigger and stretchier than my Florence. When I first received this bra, I had to fasten it on the tightest hooks, and it was still a bit loose.
Measurements coming as soon as I can find my measuring tape!
Short, projected, center full, even, slightly narrow, close set breasts....
Narrow and projected breasts: this 30FF has a 5.5" cup width and 11" of projection. This is one projected cup! And, the immediate projection is second only to Gorsenia and Comexim (unlined only). Obtaining this amount of projection in every other brand I've tried resulted in a "too tall" cup height. There are wrinkles in my narrower breast's cup, because the gore is not flat. The gore is too wide.
The 30F Dreamcatcher fit better in the top of the cup, but my slightly narrow breasts required more cup width. And, the yellow fizz colorway is softer, but that is ...due to several months of frequent handwashing by its previous owner. The black colorway is stiff. However, a soak in vinegar/water may remedy this issue. The fit is so good, I will tolerate the stiff fabric. How I would love Curvy Kate to improve the texture of this fabric. Ellace and Florence are soft, but Dreamcatcher is stiff.
Whereas Portia holds the breasts closer to the body, Dreamcatcher allows significantly more center and immediate projection. These are the characteristics that endear me to Dreamcatcher. My breasts are happy in this bra...until I sit. The cup painfully collapses. My breasts become torpedoes when I drive/sit, and I need the immediate and center projection only Gorsenia provides.
Dimensionally, Dreamcatcher is remarkably similar to Madagascar. However, Madagascar is...uncomfortable for me. I attribute this to Madagascar having less center projection and slightly less immediate projection. However, both bras receive strong recommendations from me. If you need more center projection, choose Dreamcatcher. More center projection is available in these CK bras: http://www.bratabase.com/list/glk/ And, if these are not center projected enough, Gorsenia unlined balconettes are the most center projected bras I've encountered.
With one reservation (the fabric), I recommend this bra for narrow, projected breasts. The fabric may be lamentable, but you, like me, may find the fit overcomes all fabric concerns. I'm armed with Eucalan and vinegar... https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" />
Short, projected, center full, close set, even, slightly narrow breasts....
The 32G Shockwave Bikini I own was too big for swimming. But, it is my most comfortable everyday bra. The 30G has a tighter band and smaller cups which is perfect for swimming. However, the cup is slightly too narrow. When my breasts are larger two weeks per month, even the 32G Shockwave is too small. Otherwise, the 32G fits better. Here is the link to my beloved 32G: http://www.bratabase.com/bra/di7sa/
Like the 32G, you can move the wire away from the gore in this 30G, too. See photos for more detail.
Best for short-rooted, FOB breasts with narrower roots in this size. I size up a cup for my FOT breasts and then alter it. The most beautiful bra I've ever owned. They hold up really well too. This is my 4th one.
This is so much prettier in hand than Curvy Kate's web photos show. I was dreading this colorway, and found myself pleased with its appearance.
Pros: 1. Good immediate projection 2. Excellent apex projection 2. Low gore 3. Very consistent Curvy Kate band length 4. Supportive band (3x3 fasteners) and straps (.75" wide) 5. Deep cups
Cons: 1. Gore too tall/wide for center-full, close-set breasts (CFCS) 2. Lower gore is 2.5" wide; too wide for my CFCS
The cup edge is more closed than CK Atomic plunge: Atomic plunge fits me better than Cabaret along the top of the cup.
Although it was a few months ago, Atomic did not cause quadding near the center. Cabaret causes quadding near ...the gore on both breasts. This surprised me. However, Cabaret is a 30FF and the Atomic was a 32F. When my breasts are properly supported, they sit very close together. The longer Atomic band may explain why I didn't quad near the gore. The longer band did not provide the support I prefer, unfortunately.
The mesh is fine and relatively soft. I loathed Freya Ooh La La mesh as well as Ewa Michalak's Wanilla's mesh. Curvy Kate uses a finer softer mesh that the aforementioned brands. However, the mesh is not as fine as Lejaby's mesh. Those of us with sensitive skin will appreciate this information https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" />
Curvy Kate's band and straps are similar to Comexim and have earned my deep appreciation. They are remarkably supportive. Unlike Comexim and Ewa Michalak, Curvy Kate's bands are remarkably consistent. Generally, a 30" band fits me well in every style.
Comexim, Curvy Kate, Panache, Cleo, Ewa Michalak, all have lower gore widths too wide for my CFCS breasts; 2.5" is the typical lower gore width. This causes a wire to sit on one breast along 50% of the breast's circumference. Painful. Gorsenia half cups and unlined models have more narrow lower gores; excepting their deep plunge.
I noticed the wire width was too wide. Whoa. The 11" of depth allowed my girls to sit fully on the front of my chest....until they collided with the gore. So, either the band was too short and caused the wires to distort or I may be able to wear a more narrow wire. 11' inches of depth in a 30FF is unusual! To indulge my curiosity, I'm ordering a 32E to see if the wrinkles in the top of the cup as well as the quadding at the gore will disappear. Experimentation.
Beautiful, supportive bra for less CFCS breasts. Read more 307 more words
I never thought orange would look good on me but this bra is quite attractive even on my pale skin.
Curvy Kate plunges are all quite projected at wire and apex. The apex tends to be lower, which is great for those of us who are FOT. Cabaret is the most closed on top and does cut in slightly on me- would be best for even to FOB. Atomic is in the middle and I get a little bubbling in the center. I think it's best for even to FOT however. Princess Plunge is the most open on top and best for FOT ...or size down at least one cup- and even then you might get a floppy lace top.
Atomic is a "Plunge" on me. As in, it's more or less a lower balconette due to my short roots. It's a pretty close to perfect fit despite the center bubbling. I get a nice rounded shape, the wires are narrow, and the band is on the firmer side for CK.
Very short, slightly narrow, projected, close-set, even center-full breasts....
All thanks to DDandBeyond 's encouragement, I now own a comfortable bikini top. Because gore width has been a fit problem in 87 bras, I was certain this would require an alteration. Fortuitously, the wire channel is an inch longer than the wire. Moving the wire away from the gore toward the underam worked perfectly. If you have close-set breasts, the Shockwave is an immediately available option.
Usually 32Gs are too tall for my very short breasts. The Shockwave's closed cup works well for me! Short-rooted friends, here is a bikini for you.
The band is very ...comortable. And, in swimwear, I don't want anything rubbing or pinching. The wires are too wide for my narrow breasts, but they cause no discomfort. Because they are wide, my breasts are not lifted and centered like in a Comexim bikini. But, I traded this for a "no way this will ever fit" bra, it arrived in two days, and is instantly comfortable. I'm thrilled. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" />
I would never have considered a 32G Shockwave, but it fits remarkably well after moving the wires. Thank you, DDandBeyond !

I bought this at a boutique today. I tried on 3 colorways: latte (nude), black, and red. The nude bra was the first and it fit perfectly and gave me good projection. It fit flat against my sternum and the narrower cups seemed to work well for my close-set breasts. I now understand what many of you mean about getting more projection with narrower cup styles. This definitely gives a front and center look.
The black is gorgeous in person! Much prettier than how it looks in the picture. I like it better than the nude and the red. Unfortunately, the black in 38GG was not the same size ...in the cup as the nude and red colorways. It was a tad small and cut into my breast tissue on the sides under the arm. I'm not sure if all the black bras run smaller or if it was some kind of quality control error. I might try a 38H down the road, just to see.
I'll post back later once I've worn the Ellace for a day or two, so I can comment on any fit issues after wearing it all day.
Update: After wearing it all day, there is a bit of an issue with the wire on the right side. It rubs a bit at the top under the arm, so it looks like the latte is having a similar issue to the black bra, but I didn't notice it until wearing it for a couple of hours. I'm hoping there's a way to adjust the wire since it fits well everywhere else. I was aware of the center gore pressing on me, but it didn't feel painful or chafing. I think it's just that this bra tacks completely against my chest (which doesn't always happen with my close-set breasts). Since it is new, it hasn't been broken in yet, but probably as the band loosens, it won't press as firmly. I will measure the bra today and see if the cup is a tiny bit too narrow or if the wire is short. My guess is that maybe I need the cup a tiny bit wider on the right side. Read more 253 more words
Black dyes require higher temperatures and the materials shrink when dyed at those temperatures. As an engineer very familiar with foundries and metal shrinkage, these bra patterns can be designed to compensate for the shrinkage. If we can design 3D molds that replace 200+ separate components for molten metal, fabric would be, relatively, simple. We need more engineers in bra design ;-) ;-) Giggle.
It looks like the latte has a bit of the same issue as the black (with the right side wire ending on breast tissue), so now I'm not sure if the black and the latte were the same or if it is as I suspected and the black was cut a hair smaller and I just didn't notice the problem in the latte at first.
Love4Pollinators what you said makes sense, so it's possible the manufacturers didn't adjust for shrinkage.
I had to bend the wires (a lot), since they went as far as where my shoulder blades are (seriously, I can't believe anyone's roots begin at their back). I am not a huge fan of how moulded cups look on their own, but I found out they actually create a great rounded and uplifted look under the clothes - so I am keeping this one.
There is some empty space at the bottom of the cup, which happens with my other bras as well (my ribcage is getting narrower and all bras keep sliding down a bit after a couple of minutes).
The side wings are tall for me ...(I have 165 cm), so they are hurting my armpits a bit... But I can live with that.
In general, I would say this bra is meant for somebody taller than me with shallower breasts than mine are and with less central fullness (thanks to bending the wires I get no longer spillage near the central gore, but there is a bit of empty space near my armpits - the cups go too high for me).
The leopard print is rather subtle, not showing too much, definitely not under the clothes.
The J clip gives me a good shape, helping to get the cloth of the cups towards the centre of my ribcage, where I have most of breast tissue.
What more to say? I like this one https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" />
EDIT: I was still not happy about the central spillage, which happened quite often, so I decided to make central gire narrower, which turned out to be a fantastic idea. I did the same with my 28J - Curvy Kate » Starlet Moulded Bra (CK2501) and now they both fit me really well. The measurments of the bra were taken before the alterations took place.
hi i had the some problems i am 1,69 and i try all the sizes to find the right i dont know if i found it i try from 30 h untill 32hh and for all i shotr the straps to the tailor they made very tall straps and all the problems start from there
I really, really wanted this bra to fit because I've heard it would be perfect for my short rooted, FOB projected shape. Unfortunately it is more suited to narrow to average roots, at least in this size range, as the wires dig into my breast tissue - I have wide roots. I may be too short rooted even for this bra as there is still some wrinkling at the top of the cup. I will try sizing down one size in case it too big overall. There was some strange wrinkling on the outsides of the cups too, so that might be the case. It's not very secure either, there is a lot of movement and jiggling, even when walking. I don't know if this will be helped much by going down a cup size, I don't feel very supported or strapped in at all. It's a very pretty, sexy bra, but that doesn't matter too much if it doesn't function as a bra should.
Is it digging in to your breasts on the sides or in the center? I ask only because I''m wondering if you're center full rather than wide rooted if you're getting wrinkling on the outsides of the cup, which can sometimes mean you're not filling it out all the way.
It digs in on the sides. Or, not so much digging in, but the wires just aren't wide enough. Where they come up on the outsides, the wires sit on breast tissue. I have short but wide roots, like squashed ovals. There is actually not a lot of tissue at my roots, more like loose, empty skin, and maybe some migrated breast tissue under my arms. Like grapefruits in socks when I'm unsupported. Gravity has not been my friend. In a well fitting bra, I lose 1 1/2 - 2 inches of length/ projection at the top, and my boobs basically go straight out. Hence, very short roots, I think. I am close set towards the middle, so sometimes my tissue is a little squished in the centre at the top. Close set at the top, but splayed, so gores that are narrow at the top and get wide at the bottom, like Elomi Carmen suit me best. I did try this in a FF but it didn't work either. Even though the shape was almost spot on, turns out that when my boobs have adequate projection and no extra coverage on top with too tall cups, they don't have anywhere near enough support :(
Ah, okay. That makes sense! It seems like we may have pretty similar measurements, though I've not been able to find an Elomi I like yet.
I quite like the plunges personally. I've got Carmen and Anushka and I really like them. I could do with a bit more projection at the wire, and there is some strap gap, but beyond that they fit pretty well. The Carmen has elastic along the top of the cups to keep them nicely closed off. I've actually been having a chat with someone else in a similar size to us on her review of the Matilda. You might want to check it out.
I have a really hard time finding bras that are deep enough at the wire. It's my main problem at this point. I've got a Wellfitting Demi in the mail that I have high hopes for.
Will check out the other discussion, thanks!
I hope the Wellfitting one works out for you. Fingers crossed.
Strapless bras in my size are, of course, difficult. But this one has been getting rave reviews. Supposedly it really keeps 'em up there! Feels stable, and so on!
...Not really my experience, alas. Part of it is a shape mismatch; Curvy Kate and I have never gotten along. (I'm too narrow and projected for them, just speaking generally.) But for strapless bras, you sort of have to put up with a certain amount of wideness and shallowness, similar to sports bras. Without straps, you just can't quite support the projected shape.
Still, ye olde 34G - Wacoal » Red Carpet Convertible (854119) did a much better job ...of keeping me feeling supported and stable than this bra, which seems determined to sit below where a band should be, pushing my skin out in a way that creates an unpleasant reverse muffin-top shape, and squeezing uncomfortably as my ribcage is a different size where it now 'sits'. No amount of pulling this bra up will get it to actually sit where it should, and as a result... it manages to feel both too big and too tight, putting the weight of my boobs on this part of my ribcage. (But I tried the 32 band in the past, and it was too big to actually stay up at all, so... no good.) The overall effect is to shorten my waist and make me look dumpy.
The shape under t-shirts is a bit awkward, as without the straps and with no line of the tacky material that lines the band to keep the cups actually up, they gap away from my tissue.
Overall, this is just a completely unworkable strapless bra, and it was around $70 on Amazon to boot. Thank goodness for Prime shipping and free returns. Read more 187 more words
This might be my favorite Curvy Kate soft bra. It wrinkles a little bit, but you know, you can't have it all. I will have to alter the band since it is a bit stretched out, but otherwise it is a solid bra.
The band was way too big, to an absurd degree. I immediately fastened it on the tightest hooks and it was still loose. The cups of this 34GG were indistinguishable from the 34G I tried on at the same time. Despite all the hype that this bra should basically be exactly what I'm looking for shape-wise, I found it kind of mediocre. The band was loose, the wires too wide, the cups wrinkled on top, cups ...were a bit tall, straps too wide-set. None of these were really drastic, but it adds up to a bra that I'll be returning to Amazon. I think if it had fit properly, it would definitely be a keeper - all the materials were comfortable, and I love the sturdy elastic at the bottom. I do hope they change the stretch lace in future versions; it's much stretchier than the material of the cup and this mismatch makes the bra prone to in-cup quadding.
I tried on the Crimson color way, and it was beautiful - a nice burgundy color without any purple undertones. The elastic at the bottom of the band is a contrasting champagne color on the black version of this bra, but on this version it all matches. Read more 131 more words
This is an impressive bra. I can't tolerate Cleo's narrow straps, narrow bands, hard wires, and wider gore width. But, Curvy Kate has improved all those Cleo characteristics with their Daydreamer.
