I would say that this bra definitely runs large. I'd order down a cup size. It's also very tall. The wires are narrower with deeper cups than most Curvy Kate. This also doesn't allow for a ton of immediate projection. Would be better for someone with more even fullness and less projection. Overall though this bra just ran really large for a 28F. I'd say it would be more similar to a 30F
Of my recent Curvy Kate purchases, I was looking forward to this one the most -- stretch lace, forward facing technically, gold band all sound like it makes for an amazing bra. However, this one was the most disappointing both in terms of fit and aesthetics.
The band is really tight, so much so I wouldn't be able to wear it without an extender at least for awhile. The cups are also really large; I might benefit from a cup size down, but I doubt I'd try it. The wires are much too wide for my shape, and the bottoms of the cup are shallow, leading to great wrinkling by the wires. All this combines to provide a shape that is best described as 'rounded torpedo'.
The stretch lace is *quite stretchy*,which I'm happy to see Curvy Kate utilizing in their bras, but it ends up looking sloppy somehow.
I applaud CK for their attempt to branch out in their bras, but this is one that will require some work before it's perfected. Well...for me, anyway.
Wow this bra is gorgeous. I've never seen such a pretty purple on a bra before. The lace detail is so intricate and amazing- what I love about Curvy Kate.
The fit is mostly good. The cups are a little wider on top than the Portia, and there is no restrictive ribboning. The lace sits flat and is really flattering. This bra cut fit me a lot like a plunge which I love. The gore is, understandably, low. It gives me a more rounded appearance than the Portia and is less coverage (I'd say) than the Princess.
The design on the cups is more modest than a lot of CK bras, so if you like detail but are the kind of person who'd rather not have your bra announcing its existence to the world, this would be a good option for you. Personally, I like design-obnoxious or not- but it is nice sometimes for the sake of smoothness to have a toned down bra.
This bra covers my nipples better than the Princess, but mine are smaller sized.
This bra gives an interesting "no bra" look that I didn't like at first, but have learned to appreciate. I live in a place with 300+ days of sunshine and having my breasts pushed up to high heavens is not always comfortable. This bra feels like I'm going braless without the painful uncontrolled boob movement.
One little thing that I find weird about the fit, the ribbon at the top of the cup tends to cut in a bit depending on how I'm standing. My more-even-than-FOB shape doesn't really agree with this so much. It gives me a bit of a conical shape.
I used to hate unlined bras, but Curvy Kate manages to make some that are comfortable and flattering, with much-appreciated wide wires.
It (basically) fits!! Previously, the only Curvy Kate I tried that was closed on top enough and had enough immediate projection was the Portia, but that gave me a droopy shape. The Bardot babydoll gives a natural yet well-supported profile and is almost perfect for my narrow, projected, FOB shape. There's a tiny bit of extra space at the bottom and at the top lace, and the gore is a little too wide, but the overall fit was a very pleasant surprise. It reminds me in a good way of the Cleo Phoebe/Lucy.
The appearance is definitely adult — sheer black almost all over, decorated with elaborate purple lace. ...The silky opaque hem is a nice touch.
I measured the skirt to be 56.5cm/22.2in from the bottom of the gore.
Note: Unlike the Cleo Marcie babydoll, which can be put on just like a bra because the back of the skirt is divided, the Bardot has to be pulled over the head and shoulders. It is therefore not possible to measure the band by itself; the stretched band measurement was taken while I was wearing the babydoll. Read more 76 more words
Just got this bra in a 30J and it's very pretty. Lots of beautiful detailing and there is even lace accents by the fastening on the back. It's surprisingly soft and comfortable for such a structured bra, and I feel very supported in it. However, it runs super small. I would say this fits a little smaller (cup and band) than a Cleo Darcy I have in a 30H, although the cup and gore are taller. If you have more shallow projection the fit of the cup may be more accurate for you. The band is very firm - at first I didn't think I could get it ...on, but once on it's a reasonable fit. If you are between sizes you definitely want to go with the larger band and many people may want to go up one band size. The projection in the Ritzy is very shallow, which usually doesn't work for me, but because of the balcony cut it works out. There is still some wrinkling on the bottom of the cup, but I don't feel flattened or pulled down. From the side it can look very shelf-like, but from the front it is much more rounded and provides a very upfront look! Overall I really like this bra and it is much more comfortable than expected. Given my recent success with Curvy Kates new padded cuts I decided to give CKs unpadded bras another try. In the past, the older unpadded cuts gave me the infamous upside down seven shape. And the two styles that didn't still had too much bra in my armpit. Well it would seem that CK has fixed both those problems. I'm thrilled to say I love this bra. It's a beautiful pale pink which is a great nude for me and much prettier than a beige. The shape is rounded, not a slope in sight. I've actually already ordered the black one too. The sizing is consistent with Curvy Kate. I'm so excited that Curvy Kate finally works for me. I have several new and old styles on the way and I'm hoping they will have the new shaping. If they keep this up I'm going to be exclusive to CK. I've always loved their styling and now I love the fit too. I highly recommend this bra if CK hasn't worked for you in the past.
Oh my GOSH I love this bra! My first experience with Curvy Kate and I am sold. It's a beautiful print and a lovely fit for me-kinda obsessed with the way my boobs look in it. I am surprised how much I like the plunge style! I'm nursing so I think I'm going to have my sew crafty hubby convert this one for me!
Finally! A bra that fits in all areas. The underwire isn't too wide on me and the plunge gore fully tacks with no slippage (So awesome!) and the cups contain all my breast tissue with no quadding through the day.
Great tankini, fits just like the Arizona. There are issues with it though:
1. Straight down body means riding up for anyone with hips
2. Not enough inner depth means you'll have to size up more than what you normally might, like the Arizona.
3. Cups are sewn in, so you can't control the coverage like you could in a tankini where you can pull the tankini over the bra.
In this particular size, I thought there was too much cup on the sides and top, like I did with the Arizona but worse maybe. It felt half cup too big really, my soft boobs don't feel as secure. But it gives me more coverage =/ It's really the coverage that bugs me here. Since I'm dieting and nursing, I'm not even remotely sure which I should keep or if I should return both and buy one closer to summer (but I'm afraid it'll be sold out).
I agree, I think it's slightly too big but coverage is better than on the 34K... Hm... told you that 36K and 38K are already gone on brastop, looks like it sells fast. On the other side, why keep something you are not completely happy with? Also I think it looks great, very good shape and looks very supportive.
Thanks. And you make good points...I am thinking about risking 34K. If I decide to do that, would you like to buy the 36K before I send it back?

This is the kind of bra that somehow can work for deep/projected gals. But it requires lots of rearranging otherwise it won't work, you'll spill. You need to settle your tissue in the right place. I looked at the new 32JJ CK model and saw how it looked on her and readjusted until I got there. Then, the real challenge came. Seeing if it would stay. This is where the inner depth and narrowish/lowish gore comes in handy. If your gore can tack, your bra will keep the boobs mostly in place. So far, so good. I do have the the feeling that if I bend over or ...something I'll lose my perfect prettiness, but it hasn't happened yet. I will give it a long try because I really love the color and design of this bra.
I do get a bit of annoying pokiness from the underwire, that I will be adding something too for cushion's sake if I keep it. So far I seem to get this in all of their new bras. It's like the underwire channel is too thin or something and it's a bit too long also. I couldn't stand it without altering it though.
I like that this bra is rounded because most of the other range is projected and I like to mix it up. It's really pretty and the top part is legit sheer, so your areolas are gonna be on display (took careful adjusting for mine not to be so much). The bad part is that no matter how it is, the embroidery that makes it so pretty is going to show up through thin shirts. I love the name the design and the color so I may be a little biased https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" />
This is one of their more narrower ones though, and I think it's one of their best so far. I will update if anything should start spilling out or going wrong.
This bra was a surprise! I wasn't particularly looking for a sheer bra but it is a novelty in this size and my last sheer bra was too small (75K - Ewa Michalak » Sm Czarna Mgiełka (481) ) I bought this just because I was trying every style in the new season.
I'm surprised because other than the underwires being a tad too tall and poking me/digging in, it's pretty good fit. Since the gore pretty much tacks, when you separate your boobs they seem to stay separated. When I bend, only my larger boob threatens me but then they seem to go back to ...their place. It's a projected look and not a difficult fit. The cups could be higher near the gore as I'm always complaining of but besides making feel insecure it doesn't seem like it's an issue. Minus the underwires comfort is good.
If I decide to keep the bra, I would absolutely need to do something about those poky underwires, so I would add felt and/or cut them down a tad since they are almost OK. The wires in a 34K are fine on me, it's just the 36 and up. If I encounter any spillage issues after long wear, I will definitely come back and complain here. Otherwise, take a chance and get yourself a lovely sheer bra. Sorry no side pics because - well, it's SHEER. Read more 127 more words
I have fob boobs, so there's a bit of space at the bottom. But it still looks okay I think. The shape isn't really that good for me overall though, it feels a bit off. I haven't worn a padded bra for like at least three years, so when I first put this on it felt like I was wearing a suit of armour, haha. It got a bit more comfortable with time though, but it's still not very comfortable. I don't think I'll be getting more padded bras any time soon. Also, I pretty much never have a problem with bras being to high in the armpit, but this one is. It kinda hurts https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />
Adorable bras! I have the black and blush. Great shape and fit. The wires are just barely wide enough for me at 5". I'd prefer 5.25" but the depth would be too big in the next size up.
Boob twin, stay far away from this bra! It's pretty but it won't fit!
Based on other peoples' measurements this bra, I figured this would not fit when I ordered it. I couldn't believe the cup depths I was seeing on the 28D. It was inexpensive and returnable so I decided I had to see it for myself. And yes, the cups are a full inch deeper than my breasts. I need 6-7" and this bra has 8". If you are used to Cleo bras, this one measures more like a 28E.
Other weirdness about this fit of this bra: the very top edge of the lace comes ...close to lying flat against me, but there is so much bagginess right below that. I imagine that this could cut into someone who fills it out, depending on shape.
Before Bratabase I would have been woefully confused about my measured size not fitting. Seeing measurements of a lot of different bras on here, there are plenty out there that I have a much better chance with!
I wish I had mad sewing skills and could alter this bra. It is soooooooo pretty. Back to Amazon with this one I'm afraid. Read more 89 more words
Insane indeed. I'm so sad because there are a lot of pretty non-foam/unpadded Curvy Kate bras but the cup depths run too large for me. It looks like their foam bras run a lot smaller in the 28D range but I dislike foam. :(
Alas, another disappointing fit experience with Curvy Kate! I've wanted to wear their bras for ages but had a rather painful Showgirl bra a few years ago (I think it was a 30DD) and have shied away since. But...but...they're so cute! So I tried again with Starlet in 30F and 30FF.
(Note: I'm not standing off-kilter or anything in my photos; I have scoliosis, which gives me a high hip, protruding/twisted ribcage, and attendant issues. Thanks for understanding!)
Both bras left me with pretty serious orange in a glass syndrome, though it was, strangely enough, more pronounced in the 30F than this, the 30FF. I don't even know where to ...go with that. Obviously both will be sent back, and I've no idea where to go from here!
The straps seem to be a bit wide-set, but it's not too awful for me, but I have a pretty pronounced dip that seems to keep most straps in the right place (and as I've recently begun lifting weights again, this will probably only get 'better').
The fit is nice and firm even though, as always, I prefer a tighter band; sometimes I suspect that due to the spinal deformity, the tissue on my right breast tends to migrate back into the wing unless the band itself is tight. If anyone else has scoliosis of any degree, I'd love to hear your experiences with bra fitting, too!
It's a shame; this is a pretty bra in a molded smooth cup of all things; I really don't like unmolded bras and prefer the shape and modesty they provide. I also have to say that I'm not terribly fond of the cut of this bra—the cups seem large to me and cover too much, if that makes sense. It seems I'm shallow-breasted, though, and perhaps this just is not the cut for me?
So...what do I do? Perhaps try the same cups in a 28 band? Or is this just the wrong bra for me? Read more 221 more words
I have a similar shape to what you report and I have the exact same problem with Starlet's cups. I'd say the bra isn't compatible with your shape. Other smooth molded bras that may fit you include the Panache Black / Panache Masquerade Ardour, which runs a bit tight in the band, and Cleo Neve, which also runs a bit tight. Also the Deco variations, which it seems you have tried.
I have a very slight degree of scoliosis, and it's in the "S" shape not a "C".
Technically the breast tissue on the right isn't migrating into the wing per se, it's the torso + optical 'illusion'/perception of this. If you're not already working on strengthening the muscles in your back and abdominal area, consider it. I've found it helps me a great deal, and of course it's also a good idea for me because I wear corsets at least a couple of hours most days. Because of all the years I was in ballet, good posture is the default for me but with effort and paying close attention, anyone can train themselves to keep their back aligned to neutral/straight. Does it hurt in that aching sort of way for a while in the beginning? Yes, yes it does. But that's where strengthening the back muscles can help.
Natori has a couple of t-shirt bra styles that may work - hidden glamour in particular, and Chantelle has a few which I'm almost positive are carried at Nordstrom - it may be helpful to find a place where you can try stuff on in person just until you get things worked out in terms of size and style without having to spend and return as much. If you've done so or live in a bra desert and I've simply missed the mention, my apologies. :)
I have about a 20 degree curve in the form of an "S." I have one shoulder blade that is always erect, and the other is always tucked in, so my straps are never the same length in my bras. Also I have some related rib flaring that can cause digging with my bras when I sit, especially if the bands are too loose or the cups not wide enough. Part of my actual breast assymetry is at the root, which causes wires to dig into my right armpit if the cups aren't projected enough.
I'm having a hard time understanding the erect vs tucked shoulder blade in a visual context...
My left breast is about the width of one pencil higher than the right, but the right when I'm looking down looks bigger and I only notice the 'height' placement difference looking straight on into a mirror - a doctor once said it's kind of like the stickers on vehicle side and rear view mirrors: "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear" due to the way our eyes work and how the brain processes that information.
Now, I can't say that someone with a greater degree of scoliosis can 'fix' things like posture without a medical professional who has relevant expertise being involved, but core and back strength is important even for those without any scoliosis - sitting hunched over working on a laptop set up on a lower surface (like a coffee table) all the time has led to at least two people I know well to have that same hunch when standing up. Makes me want to follow around behind them with a cane pressed into their mid/lower back forcing them to stand straighter. :P ....I might be going to hell for that....;)
valentine556 Ok, so you know how shoulder blades can stick out or lay flat depending on what one is doing with one's arms? My labour dervishes don't change position much, the left one is sticking out most of the time, whereas the right one lays flat no matter what. A doctor once referred to my right one as "dwarfed." My rib cage is somewhat uneven as well.
Note: "shoulder blades" above, not "labor dervishes" (autocorrect)
Ahhh ok, I think I understand now. :) All bodies have some degree of asymmetry to deal with, but with some creativity and research one may be able to find solutions that will at least make things comfortable and workable.

valentine556 You are right about hunching over...I spent some of this weekend sewing, and kept having to straighten myself up!
@courtnelius Going to have to use 'labour dervishes' on my doctor during our next conversation just for fun. ;) My ribcage is also all off-kilter.
Sorry, spent the day doing yardwork and my brain's not working well...
@faustineli Thank you for the suggestions on various other bras to try. Deco and I do seem to get along—though I'll confess to fearing my being stuck with only those. Trying not to lose hope!
@valentine556 Thank you for commiserating! I guess when I say the breast seems to migrate in that direction, it seems I am always re-adjusting the right 'girl'. It's really annoying! So far as posture...you are right about the exercises. I used to do them but stopped in order to do other things. As a former singer, posture is big for me too, but I have found myself scrunched over my sewing machine more than once (but at least I'm paying attention). Thanks for the bra suggestions—I have a few Natori "Feathers" and love them, just wish they had 28 bands and a wider range of cup sizes! The last Chantelle I tried was either mislabelled or their cup sizes are really small. Unfortunately our Nordstrom's doesn't carry sub-30 bands or many bras over DD (save the Feathers DDD). I'm seriously considering driving all the way from Ohio to Sophisticated Pair just to try on a wider range of sizes. Isn't that crazy? I'm tempted to fill a bus with bras and drive it around the country so women could try on bras!
@courtnelius Hm, it is interesting that you say the cups can dig into your armpit—it almost sounds like the opposite of my problem on the right side, where I feel like the cup and wire are 'floating'! My shoulders are uneven as a result of my curvature, so the strap lengths are always uneven on me. As a Type A, I find this maddening, but...at least I am comfortable.
Thank you all again for your help, it is really appreciated!
I love the color and the details. It fits on top and in the middle...but the bottom is not projected enough and the bottom of the cup buckles. I think this is better for more even-full breasts with not a lot of projection.
I agree, I think it's slightly too big but coverage is better than on the 34K...
Hm... told you that 36K and 38K are already gone on brastop, looks like it sells fast. On the other side, why keep something you are not completely happy with?
Also I think it looks great, very good shape and looks very supportive.
