Yet another Elomi bra in the pursuit of an adequate plunge-style for some lower-cut dresses I have. This bra is BEAUTIFUL and it ALMOST fits, which breaks my heart. The problem is the band is way too big, which makes the cups gap on the sides. If I grab the band of the bra in back and pull it in, VOILA - perfect fit on the sides. I want this bra so badly that I'm going to exchange it for a 34G. I would even try a 32GG, but they don't make that size https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":-(" />
Also, a note for those of you with ...fuller upper breasts - this bra has a bit of non-removable padding in the bottom, supposedly to give that push-up effect. I always thought I had full-on-bottom breasts (or, maybe equally full on top and bottom), but this gave me a VERY good shape, so maybe I have full-on-top breasts. I think it's a combination of the vertical seams and the padding at the bottom/side. Either way, this one has potential for me, providing I can find the magical band/cup ratio.
Overall, this bra fits me fairly well. I really like that it is a "plunge" style so I can wear it under v-neck tops and dresses. It gives me a relatively smooth back and great separation. The band fits well, though I have to start out on the second column of hooks, not the first, so I wonder how long this is actually going to last for me. And this is the very first bra I've owned where the underwire doesn't dig into my underarm!
The only complaint I have is that I don't quite fill it out completely at the top of the cups, but I overflow in an F cup. (My breasts are fuller on the bottom than on the top.)
As far as bras go, this is the most comfortable one I own, and the Elomi line seems to fit me well.
When purchased, this bra fit fairly well but the gore did not lie completely flat against the breastbone although this appeared as if it might be due to wire shape, because pushing the bra flat did not cause bulging on the top. The top scallop also stands away from the breast which makes it sometimes look a little big in the cup, but this is probably due to not much elastic. It is not as nice as the Elomi Cleo.
Within one month of purchase (after about 6 wearings), I noticed that the bra was very uncomfortable and required adjustment several times through the day. ...It felt as if the wire was being twisted within the channel, and the cloth of the channel wasn't lying flat. I also felt as though the wire near the armpit was being pulled out of shape. I would put on the bra, take it off, try to adjust the wire channel, and repeat the process five or more times. Finally I could not endure wearing it any more and retired it.
Note: I am writing this review in January, 2013, several months after the bra was purchased. I have given my initial review and fitting comments based on my notes about the fit of the bra near the time of purchase. Since the bra was purchased, my breasts have grown and the bra no longer fits properly. Below are my comments on the current state of the bra:
The more I wiggle into this bra, the better it fits. At first I thought it was huge, but now I think it's just a cup or so too big. When I lift and scoop I fill out the cup pretty well.
I love how this bra looks. It's pretty stiff, but gives good support and shape. Its a little scratchy, hopefully after wearing a while it will soften up a little.
My problem is wrinkling in the cups. While they're not so big that I have gaps at the top, I do have wrinkling along the bottoms and sides. I have no idea if any of that would ...go away if I wore it all day and let my boobs settle a little. I think this bra would be better for full on the bottom boobs, which I don't have.
The center gore sits flat and is comfortable and not too high.
A first I thought this bra was so big it would automatically get sold. Now I'm not so sure. I think I'll fiddle with the straps and more scooping before I give up on it. I still think one cup size smaller would be better for me. Read more 89 more words
This style is a good fit for me and provides a nice shape. plunge and balcony style seem to fit my boobs' shape best, but this one works okay. the bra is well made , but i do not consider it as 'pretty'. straps are solid and wide and do not dig into my shoulders. gore sits perfectly flat on my sternum and the under-wires do not dig into my armpits. 8 hours of comfy, and not comfy enough to sleep in, (for me, that is the ultimate comfort test - can i sleep in it comfortably?). this is a full coverage cup. i am not very fond of the bottom of the right cup, however. the fabric on the under-wire "rolls up" a bit for some weird reason. sewing defect, i suspect.
The super-correct designation for this bra is "Elomi by Goddess Kristie", it is dating from the time Elomi was still a subbrand of Goddess. Now Goddess, Elomi, Fantasie and Freya are all part of the Eveden group. You'll also find this bra labelled as "Goddess Kristie (5810)".
The Kristie is the predecessor to the Elomi Caitlyn and it fits exactly the same. I know this bc I have the Elomi Caitlyn in 40 GG and aside from the band being wider on the 42G and the lace being slightly different it is exactly the same bra.
This site is so awesome. Thank you VERY much for this review. I have always really liked the Caitlyn bra but I have wrinkle issues with the smallest one made in a 42, the 42dd. After reading this review, I went looking for the @Kristie online and I found a brand new 40d on eBay for low $. Since the 40d is a sister size to the 42c, which is what I really need, hopefully it will fit even though I may have to use an extender. Thanks!
The style of this bra is beautiful! The straps are comfortable, as are the underwires and band. Elomi bras tend to be fairly stretchy, and this bra is no different.
Unfortunately, I am now a 40 J and this bra certainly does not fit anymore!
This is certainly my most comfortable every-day bra. I have 5 of them now, that should tell you something! It's great in full coverage, which I like. All of the breast tissue fits inside the cup, the wires come up pretty high. On my body that is not a problem. It comes in a lot of pretty colours. I have 3 purple ones, a saphire blue and a nude. I saw other fun colours recently as well. It lifts the girls to where they should be and make me look so much better, clothes fit better too. Bought the first ones in 2010, recently got the 3 purple ones in January of 2012. I get about a year out of these bra's, with weekly washing (machine gentle, hang to dry). As soon as it's necessary to go to the tighter hooks it's pretty much time to replace them. I hope Elomi keeps making these bra's for a long time to come.
This bra is very comfortable. It is fairly full coverage, with thick satiny opaque cups. It has a printed pattern on the cups and very pretty embroidery detailing along the top edge of the cup. The band is fine mesh, with thick, elastic edges. It gives a low, wide shape. The cup edges form a v shape in front, and make a fairly flat separated area.
The cup is actually 4-part, including the side support panel (my favorite feature of Elomi and Goddess bras). The cup extends below the band, with no band edge off the bottom of the cup.
As I expect from Elomi bras, if I could get this in 32K it would fit much better, I think. Although I'm not in love with the shape.
This bra looks good under sweaters and tight t-shirts. I love how it makes my breast sit high without looking fake. It's a comfortable bra in hot weather. It's hard to wash by hand b/c it doesn't fit in the bathroom sink. I wash it on delicate in the washing machine and have had no problems with it stretching.
Hi, could you pretty please measure this bra again? The wire width (cup width) seems to be quite large. Too large if you ask me. The only way I can explain the cup width if you confused the Smoothing 1220 with the Smoothing Plunge 1221; but that bra is not available in 40GG. *scratches head* I would love to know, I always have issues with the wires (and the cupwidth) being too narrow for me.
i measured wrong. i measured from the outside instead of the inside. when measuring from the inside, i got 10 inches.
Thanks, but that is still wider than the 22cms (8.7 in) I get on the Elomi Cleo Side Support in the same size. And the Elomi Cleo Side Support has the widest wires that I have found so far. I contacted a friend who owns both the Elomi Cleo Side Support and the Elomi Smoothing 1220 in 44GG and she said the two bras are identical in wire width. *very confused*
I think I know what it is, pharmrterri might be measuring the cup diagonally instead of straight across?
This is a normal non-plunge bra; I cannot see a reason to measure diagonally. The best explanation I have is that I always try to measure the actual wire through the wire tube (bc it indicates best how much space there will be for the breasts) and pharmrterri does it differently.
I measured straight across from the back. I measured my 38 h and it was over 8 inches too.
8 inch is 20.32 cms, 8.7 inches is about 22 cms. Wire width measurements in that range seem about right for an Elomi bra in 38H(UK). Anything above 22 cms though... I would love to find a bra in 40 H with wires that are 24-26 cms wide and 42 cms long, but I doubt this will happen unless I sew the bra myself.
This is my favorite bra, and went the longest before needing to be taken in. It's made of a firm fabric that doesn't sag, and it's cut high enough on the sides to prevent breast tissue from squishing under the arm. I just wish it came in more colors!
Scalloped strap edges. Three hooks. Love the length and width of this underwire. Really holds my armpit boobs all the way in. Expands too far past my silhouette. The quad boob is so minimal, it may not be noticeable under clothes. Creates a flatter chest.
Expands too far past my silhouette. Scalloped strap edges. Three hooks. Creates a flat chest that still gets cut into by cup edge. Slight gapping at top of cup on small side, may not be noticeable in clothes.
Scalloped strap edges. Love the wider band. Perfectly encloses my armpit boob. I wish it brought my boobs into my silhouette more. Seems to have quite a cone shape, and creates too much quad boob. I returned this bra.
