I bought this because I've been recommended the Fantasie side support bras a few times..and it was also on sale. It's a miss, though.

    Quick review:

Band was a bit snugger than I had expected; still a loose 36 though.

Cups are wide and kind of shallow. Gore didn't even come close to tacking. I'm actually not sure what shape this bra is really meant for. I got a weird upside-down 7 shape in it, the bottom managed to not have enough space while looking almost flatly horizontal (how?), I had in-cup quadding under the lace, and yet the lace still gapped. Very strange, I've never had a bra fit like this before.

The pattern is cute (I like the pale pink with grey-brown pinstripes), and the material is nice and soft; very lightweight while not being sheer. It would be a great summer bra...if it fit.

    Ah well. Back it goes.

The band seems to fit all right -- doesn't ride up much or hurt at all. The cups appear to be deep enough because the center gore lies flat against my sternum and I usually fill the cups without overspill in front. Lots of overspill on the side though, because they are not nearly wide enough and the underwires dig in on the sides so painfully that I can't wear this bra for a full day. However, bratabase recommended a UK 34G, which is what I thought I was buying. So hopefully fixing the overspill problem is as simple as going a up one more cup size in this model.

Pretty color and lace but a total shape mismatch . Once again I ignored my instincts and allowed the bra fitter to convince me this one fit. She tightened up the straps so much my shoulders may never recover and told me said how great it looked. On me everything about it is wrong including very wide set straps, gaping at the top and minimal to no support. Fantasie bras are cute but their sizing/styles are always iffy for me.

According to the fit assessment here, this bra fits me pretty well. And that's true in most ways. In general, this is a fairly comfortable bra, especially for hot weather - it's very light and breathable,

That said, the wires in this bra feel very stiff to me, and the side panels seem to give me a strange, segmented shape, that puffs out a bit at the sides. I can make either cup fit at my IMF, but I can't seem to make both of them fit at the same time. It seems like that could be related to my being pretty splayed, but it isn't ... something I'm experiencing in other bras. It may be more related to the gore, which is a bit too high and a bit too wide, but not so much that it is painful. It does seem to have room for my immediate projection, and doesn't usually get pushed down over the course of the day unless I am doing something like gardening that involves constant bending over.

I still haven't nailed down all the aspects of my shape, but the top of the cup fits relatively smoothly (again, most of the month), which is not easy for me to find in a bra without stretch lace.

I like the low height on the side, but the stiff wires don't compensate well for the fact that one of my boobs in not so much bigger than the other, but wider, so the stiff wire/low height can poke a bit if I don't have it adjusted just right during peak boob times. I think a softer wire would pretty much solve this problem for me, but since it isn't a problem all of the time, and I feel pretty good wearing it, I'm okay saying this bra fits.

I am in love with this bra! I am FOB with short roots, soft & pendulous tissue, and in need of immediate projection. This bra delivered everything I needed. I don't even have gapping at the top on my smaller side. I can easily wear this all day, in fact I think I could sleep in it. And it's GORGEOUS. The cups are made of an ivory thin foam with a satin face, which is mostly covered by black lace. The back is just black mesh. There are tiny tulle bows at the straps and top of the gore, plus a teardrop-shaped crystal at the gore. I have the matching knicker as well, which has a tulle bow and keyhole at the top of the sheer lace back. A great purchase, and I hope to see Fantasie keep this bra for next season too (in a new color, though I think the Shadow color is one of the most beautiful features of the bra).

  7. Marianna Side Support Plunge Bra (9202)

    Fits

First off, I love this bra. It is the prettiest bra I have ever owned. I have no idea why it's referred to as a "plunge", when it pretty clearly is not. Even still, it looks fantastic.

Overall, I love the look it gives me-- slightly less rounded than the Cleo Lucy, with a very slight point, sort of a vintage shape. It fits me decently, but like with all bras, there is slight wrinkling in the upper lace portion for my left breast, as it is slightly smaller. This is not noticeable under clothes, and barely noticeable even without clothes. Also, this bra is slightly more projected than ... my Lucy, but only slightly-- I was finding that it was slipping about a .5-1" out of my IMF.

I realized that my shape is this, and some parts of it are counter-intuitive: my roots are wide, short, and low, plus I'm extra projected, bottom-full, and very flat on top. So, I need a bra that is wide enough, for sure, but most bras that are wide tend to be shallow. As a result, I'll have bras that are wide enough, but that I am gradually pushing away from my body, by the end of the day. Fortunately, even regardless of this, the Marianna still looks beautiful, and is very comfortable, so it's a keeper.

I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll have this issue with a lot of bras. Still, I will press onward for an even better fit.

So beautiful on you! These colors... :-) :-)

    • Love4Pollinators Thank you! :) It makes me want to try out the halfcup, as well. It's just such an elegant bra. (Ok, I am totally gonna get the matching briefs. I can't help it. A bra this pretty deserves to be in a set!)

    • 2

Giggle....we wouldn't want the bras to feel "lonely." The half cup may be a great fit for you, too :-) Good luck!

    • 2

Bahaha, yes, precisely. :) I've been meaning to try a halfcup of some sort-- it would need to be a projected one, so we'll see! ;)

    • 1

I think you look fantastic in this bra - it is super pretty as well. Hope you find a half cup that you like and I agree the briefs and bra look best when matching.

    • 1

Is it the side support that provides the forward projection? I love the retro look.

    • 1

Paula50 You know what, I think that makes the most sense. The side-support panel pushes that tissue to the front/center, causing slight 'torpedo boob'. It's definitely not an extreme one, though!

I've wanted matching, beautiful bras/panties for so long-- this will only be my second matching set, but eventually, I'll get the matching panties for the rest of my bras. And some day I plan to have a much bigger collection of them. :) Getting there! I really do feel so much more confident and sexy with matching sets.

    • 2

This is such a beauty. I didn't fare too well with the padded half cup version of this bra and really want to try the balcony. It's always been a favorite of mine. A matching set would be nice! I can always dream :)

    • letstalkaboutbras I am so excited to receive my matching panties... I can't wait! Just so I can put the set on and prance around in front of my mirror (imagine the "Faith" scene from Rules of Attaction.)

I love the cut-- they call it 'Brazilian brief' but it's basically just cheeky low-cut hiphuggers (at least that's how I imagine them to look in person)... a bra this beautiful definitely needs the set! and fwiw, I think I paid $35 on Amazon for mine? And $13 for the panties. (Which... I guess is expensive, when I used to just get the 5-7/$25 deal for VS panties.) BUT.. less than $50 for a set this beautiful is pretty inexpensive, IMO.

Really though, one of the cases where the bra is way more beautiful in person. Worth it. (I so have a developing 'problem', lol.) If you're more FOB (with slight top-fullness, but flat on top worked well enough for me) I SO recommend it!

Under $27 (free shipping) for the magenta colorway in 30F (eeep, the 30FF is like $20 more though). The other ones are $74, but magenta is clearly the best color. ;)

I looked at your old halfcup review. I wonder if you'd have these same issues in a balcony at the same size? This is the seller I bought from, and returned a set that didn't end up working at all...so, if you have to return it, you know. I'll stop pressuring you, now. ;)

    • 1

That is a great price. I'll almost certainly need a 30E now, though :( I'm going to see if I can find it nearby.

    • 1

Thanks for finding it! I haven't tried any more Fantasie bras in my current size, so I don't mind the pressure :)

  8. Speciality Smooth Cup Bra (6500)

when I wore it in a way that the cups were fully filed it started to cause pain, so I had to loose the straps, and the cup wrinkled. It feels too tight at the top and too lose at the bottom. And it pushes my breast to the sides, what doesn't help.

    edit:
After loosing some weight it fits me better. I have about this same horizontal breast perimeter (29.5 cm to 29 cm), but now I have less tissue on the top (27.5 cm to 24.5 cm vertical). Now it is really supportive and comfortable... The only one thing is, that it leaves marks on my sternum, but I don't find it painful.
I wear it on the tightest hook.

This bra is wrong in every way for me in theory but I find myself, at the beginning of my bra journey, reaching for it often. It's supportive and comfortable and on me gives a kind of pointy east-west silhouette, which I honestly don't mind as much as others appear to, but I usually wear vintage clothes. I'm a moron and accidentally bought a bunch of UK J-cup bras (I measured myself at a US J) but this one fit well enough to keep. It's not very FOT-friendly, and I can't tell if the bottoms of the cups are bunching up because the cups are too big or because my boobs are scrunching the fabric down.

This fits true to size for a 30E.
I need narrow separation, and this bra delivers. However, there is a little extra room in the bottom of the cups I can't quite fill, but it is not too bad. The underwire goes a bit wider and out-side edge downward angled than my narrow breasts prefer.
    Very lacy, full-coverage.

I like this bra, but it does not fit.
Band: a little bit big. I am in between 30 and 32, so 30 was perfect for me. 3 hooks for a secure support.
Straps: not too wide set, but the straps themselves are wide.
Wires: very wide, too wide for me (I usually like wide wires), but still comfortable.
Cups: quite shallow, there was a little bit of empty space at the bottom and the sides. The cups are wide set. I am not sure why, but I had kind-of quad-boob, I believe its because my breast are tall?... It is not due to spillage, but the top of the cup cuts in my breast tissue
Fits more rounded than other Fantasie bras.

    I will return this bra.

I picked this bra up at Nordstrom Rack... it only took 3 visits over the course of about a month before a bra that fit me showed up there. I tried on a number of Freya, Natori, Chantelle, Dkny, and Calvin Klein without success, and then this one-- band just right, gore tacking perfectly, cups filled on top with no gapping, and the wires sitting right in my IMF. Check the tag, and it's a Fantasie bra. Ha, I should have known.

I have had better luck with Fantasie than any other brand I've been able ... to try out. Their side support full cup bras seem to be the easiest to find, and so far all the versions I've tried on have been perfect for my breast shape. A little more coverage than I'd really like (won't be wearing this with any low-cut tops), and they give me a bit more of a natural, slightly pointy "green" shape rather than the more rounded "purple" shape I'd prefer, but eh, it's a bra that fits. I'll take it!

For reference, I am FOB (2/5), somewhat narrow-rooted, with moderate projection. I have some inner fullness but my breasts are widely spaced and slightly splayed. I struggle a lot with gapping and wrinkling in the top of cups but I've yet to have that issue in a Fantasie bra.

I purchased this bra online from the @figleaves UK store as I needed a new bra quickly (my weight fluctuates often) and didn't want to wait a month for my usual Ewa Michalak order. I think it's quite pointy, and the wires are too wide for me - ending behind my arms if they are resting at my side. The center gore doesn't sit quite flat, but this is likely due to my uneven sized breasts ( as buying a larger size to fit the larger breast the cup on the smaller breast is too loose and it's only gaping a little. Fairly comfortable and the fabric is quite soft and the cobalt (blue) colour is quite pretty.

I already had this bra in a 30G, but the band was too tight. I bought a 32G to be more comfortable. These two sizes have a few differences, first the straps are wider in the 32, and there is a «side support» panel inside the cups of the 32. This panel does not seem to do anything. I do not feel like my boobs are more supported on the sides, or pushed towards the center.

The cups are a little bit big for me, which makes the bra look quite bad. It looks like mw breast is just hanging in a potato bag... But the wires are the perfect width and length for me. I have quite projected brests so I do not understand why the wires are ok but the cups too big.

The fabric is very nice, soft, and the bra is comfortable. I might just alter the cups to remove «excess» fabric.

I waited so long to finally find this bra at a price I could afford. Sadly, the only size I could get didn't fit. It is too small in the cup and too large in the band for me. I could go up a cup, but Fantasie doesn't make 28-bands and my ideal size would be a 28G. Fit aside, Marianna is one of the prettiest bras I've tried. There's a full review on my blog.

Beautiful and very Fauve-esque! I've wondered about this one but haven't seen many reviews, so this is very helpful. Sad to hear it didn't work for you in this size!

    • Thanks! VioletIridescence, yes, it is very Fauve-y! I love a lot of the Fauve half cups, too, but was too late for most of them.

It looks like the depth runs on the small size of a 30F also

    • 1

I had a bit of a frustrating experience with this bra too. In my regular size (30E) it was too small in the cup, but when I sized up it was too wide for me - which I also find with Fauve half-cups (annoyingly, as they're so beautiful).

This band stretches quite a bit - feels more like a 32 than a 30, which is unfortunate, because Fantasie doesn't make 28s. I've found it works decently for projected shapes, but there may be a bit of gaping at the top (but less than there often is for other molded bras or especially plunge bras). For cup sizes lower than this, the band seems to be firmer, which is bizarre.

I loved this bra. It had the shape I have been wanting (slightly pointy 'rocket' or 'bullet' bra shaped) without being too pointy. It had the side support I wanted, but the straps were just to long for my short frame. I couldn't get them to tighten up enough to get the lift that I wanted and it made my breasts point down to the ground instead of outwards. After wearing it only once, I decided I couldn't wear it any more.

A very nice, simple, lightweight lace bra. Typical Fantasie: supportive, comfortable, gives a natural and lifted shape. Really sweet colorway reminiscent of EM Summertime: vintage lace with warm orange and antique gold embroidery. Nothing shows under knit top, its a very 'discreet' bra. Straps adjust fully, lace is soft, band is true to size, side support panels help to bring everything front and center. Balcony cut with fairly high coverage in the cups and firm wires that enclose the full breast on the outside. Top soft lace panel is a little bit stretchy so it doesn't cut in but holds on nicely, no gaping. A wardrobe staple, especially for warmer months!

I found this bra 10 years ago, and have worn this model almost every day since then. It gives a perfectly round but still natural shape to my breasts, which I feel like works well due to my very soft tissue. I still love this bra, but I have to start out wearing it on the tightest hook and it quickly becomes too loose because I really need a 28 band, which Fantasie doesn't make. My only other issue is my breasts vacillate between a 30FF and 30G, and are often squarely in the middle, with slight quading in the 30FF and extra space in the 30G.
