Pros: -Gives a natural rounded shape to my breasts, they tend to look super round in anything but Rebecca is great for t-shirts -The cups feel very nice, very comfortable padding material
Cons: -Scratchy feeling -The band is large, I went for a 34 and it was snug on the tightest hook but I could wear it enough without an extender -The wires are thin and a little flimsy
Overall, it's a really good bra. I love the way my breasts look in it...before I scoop and swoop. Even after I do, it's still comfy if you disregard the materials scratching me. The wires are a little wide(for me), but workable.
Just as a reference, I wear a size 36HH/36J and my breasts are very projected, narrow-rooted, round(slightly pendulous...I think they are starting to head that way), full on top, and I have very narrow shoulders.
It does the job, but I feel like it was designed for someone a couple decades older than me, not that I really mind the way it looks. Fantasie seems to market towards an older audience anyway. My one complaint is that the gore doesn't tack, which may be because the cups are one size too small, or the gore is simply too tall. I believe it's the first one, as I get some minor pillowing when I press the gore against myself. One thing I really like about this bra is the elastic straps. They make putting the bra on a lot ...easier, and they make it more comfortable. The mesh and lace at the top of the cups is a bit itchy, but my skin is fairly sensitive, so I won't complain much about this. The band seems to have stretched a fair bit, as upon receiving it, I'm already wearing it on the far left set of eyes. It looks like the previous owner may have run it through the washing machine or been a bit rough with it while handwashing as it looks a bit worn out and some of the embroidery isn't quite right. At any rate, the price was right, and I will continue to wear it. I may list it eventually when I get more bras. Read more 125 more words
This bra works out really good for me. Although a 40 band would probably be a slight bit better , but not that much to where I would use a bra extender for this size 38. I love the upper lacy cups. Seems to be a well made bra also. I bought this bra on a bra transfer with another Bratabase user for 10$ and am quite pleased. It's really very comfortable and feminine.
I actually went to a lingerie store in a nearby city that carried extended cups, only up to a G in most cases, because I've been having so many problems finding a molded t-shirt bra. This was the best of the lot, so I got it, but now I find that this bra is too shallow in the bottom of the cup. The apex of the cups is also wider than my natural shape. The volume of the cup seems about right under, but since I am not filling it out in the right places, it won't work under my tightest shirts. It does give a very nice lifted shape under the right shirts.
I like this bra very much. It seems to fit me in the cups almost perfect. My only complaint is that it has only 2 hooks and not 3 .It has side support which I like.
Wire width on this is perfect for my wide-set boobs, good containment on the sides. Cups are a bit big at the top, but I can't fill out the tops of pretty much anything. I should be able to take it in near the gore to get it to lay better on top, though.
Visually, this bra is gorgeous. Comfort-wise, it isn't the best for me. It always starts out feeling great, but I have to fiddle with it all day long, and by the end of the day I am annoyed and chafed, usually with a red spot on my sternum from poky underwires. Not a winner.
The bra is very wide set. This is a problem with pattern upsizing, so the straps dig in around the shoulders. The gore was a little too wide, so it doesn't tack, and wires are too wide for my roots.
The bra gives you a more soft oblong shape than perfectly round.
Throughout the day the gore will ride up and poke uncomfortably.
The good is that the band is perfect in size. I have absolutely no problems with it riding up throughout the day. I filled out the top but just barely, if I wasn't FOT this would be a problem.
I love the feel of this bra but it is too east-west to wear with a lot of my shirts. I can only wear it with stretch tshirts and not when I want to look my absolute best. It is my most comfortable bra though. The wires go a long way around the side which I need as I have tissue going right under my arms. The central gore sits perfectly on my chest.
The first thing is, I have not had this bra as long as the website suggests, I bought it in the fall and rarely wear it, so it is still in pretty good shape. It was too tight in the band when I bought it, but I needed a bra right then and it was closest thing to fitting I had found in awhile. The wires are very wide, they wrap all the way around almost to my back, while leaving marks where they are on top of my breasts on the inside. In the side view, only about a half inch of the black and gold fabric ...is outside the wire, on the wing. They also distort with minimal tension on the band. The band itself is curved so that it sits higher on the back, even with the top of the cups rather than the bottom. The straps are very stretchy, as has been my experience with all Fantasie bras, resulting in a slightly droopier shape. This bra would be much better suited to someone with wider, shallower breasts that are a little further apart. The fabric is very pretty, black and gold lace in a floral pattern, very thin. It wears well and does not show through my thinner shirts. Read more 105 more words
This bra is made out of a nice, soft, supportive material that isn't too heavyweight and hasn't got as much padding as a normal moulded bra, yet supports like one. I find @Fantasie are quite generous in their sizes compared to other brands available in the UK, but I don't think it's too loose or big on me. The nude colour is great for UK complexions because it's not in 'orange' or 'tanorexic' like a lot of other nude bras. It's lighter and has a vintage or retro feels to it because of the accompanying briefs. The shape and style isn't anything fancy or exciting, but is smooth ...and comfy for everyday wear.
It's definitely one of the more pricey bras. I got it for £38, which is the most I've ever spent on a bra. For me this isn't an issue because I'd rather buy a well-fitting bra than a cheap bra. The quality is superior to a normal department store model and so I expect it to last longer.
My only personal quibble is that I've worn moulded cups all my life (generally because I've always worn the wrong size) and don't like unpadded ones because they tend to show cold nipples easily. The same thing happens with this bra so I make sure to wear it on warm days or under several layers.
All things considered, this is a great bra. Read more 123 more words
This bra is great. It's super soft, very supportive and so pretty with the brown and light pink pinstripes. The straps are completely adjustable and the bra itself gives a nice natural shape. I'm generally a 30F, so the band is just too big for me.
I would recommend this bra to anyone who loves the shape of the unpadded Cleo balconettes but finds themselves between sizes, even more so if the size that fits in the wire and bottom of the cup is too deep in the upper cup. Order the smaller of the two cup sizes- I find the 30DD Celia fits me wire and wing-wise like the 30E Cleos, but isn't nearly as deep.
This is a very pretty, super-comfortable bra which offers good lift up and forwards (probably more of a Meg shape on me than a Bella/Melissa, but still very good). I have low-set breasts and the ...wire/wing comes pretty high under my armpit (which I love as it minimises sideboob), but this may be a problem for anyone often troubled by wires. The sole downside of this bra for me is the loose and super-stretchy band. I can fasten it on the tightest hook and still feel comfortable (I measure 29). I think I'm going to keep the bra and hope it doesn't stretch too much, but I have small breasts which don't need too much support. If you're sub-30, this band will probably be too loose.
There is a teeny bit of loose material at the seam/apex, but it's smooth on the lace at the top - this may be not be so good if you're fuller on top. Otherwise it's a great fit. I'd love Fantasie to bring out a plain cream/white bra in the same style to wear under light tops. Read more 151 more words
Wires too narrow and bendy. Molded cups are silly shaped. Apex is way too high and empty. Folding underneath because my boobs want to be in the apex. Band 2-hook and not really supportive Volume - mostly okay. Straps are too wideset. Somehow, I still quadboob slightly when I'm sc/swooped properly.
My previous experience with Fantasie wasn't that great: I felt the cups were too deep and the wires too narrow for my ...shape. However, I recently got a nice set of Fantasie swimwear and a quick in store try-on of a different model suggested not all might be lost. I read in reviews that this model is generally thought of as 'slightly minimising' which should work well for my shape so I decided to give it a shot ...
Bra description:
A simple, yet nice looking bra. The cups are completely plain and made out of moulded spacer knit of a slightly stiffer kind than the Chantelles I've come to love, yet nowhere near as stiff as 'regular' moulded foam. They come up quite high and are quite full coverage. The centre gore is also high, which I actually prefer in a bra. The cradle part of the band and front part of the straps are decorated with lace embroidered in a geometrical pattern, giving this otherwise plain bra a feminine yet modern touch. Small, 'straight' bows decorate the centre gore and the points where the cups connect to the straps. The wing parts of the band are made out of a completely opaque stretch material that looks a bit like swimwear lycra, but is much much firmer. The back closes with three sets of two hooks and eyes.
Bra fit:
Unfortunately this bra doesn't fit me. It actually is laughably big, even on my larger breast. The 32D version almost fits my larger breast, but it is way too roomy on my smaller breast. The cups of this model are clearly meant for someone with rounder, fuller breasts than I have. My breasts are conical and slightly shallow and just don't fill them out the way they should, especially towards the top. The wires in this 32DD are just perfect though, which just confirms my initial suspicions that Fantasie is too deep and narrow for me.
The band on this bra feel slightly looser than the band on the 32D. It does the same odd thing on me though: no matter what I do to the straps, it keeps angling upwards. Although I think I could size down in the band, it's not exactly 'riding up' -- it's the shape and design of the band that makes it LOOK as if it's riding up on me. My conclusion is that this band is designed with a slightly 'straighter' or simply less conical torso in mind. My torso is very very conical and I have this same problem in a number of bras, including the 30DD - Masquerade » Rhea (6121) that I love. It makes the band feel weird and uncomfortable and somewhat throws off the fit of the entire bra.
Conclusions:
A nice, simple everyday bra that I really really wish would fit me. Alas, as it doesn't even come close to fitting it will be returned to Bravissimo ASAP.
Bought used off e-Bay, so measurements reflect light wear. I use the last hook, which is odd because on Fantasies I have worn for months I still war on the loosest hook. No top quad boob, and I love the side boning/support. However, I am starting to see quad boob on the inside of the cup. My boobs are close set but not incredibly close, but I am falling towards the middle more.
Very pretty dark red/maroon and black--just wish the straps were maroon and not black.
Same style as Lizbeth, just different color. Everything else is identical.
Update: alas, after a few hours of wearing, I get more of an upside down 7 look.
It's so beautiful, and it does fit you in the pictures! Are the wires on it easily distorted?
I have never experienced distortion that I could identify, but, since you asked, I went and did a little test. On the Lynsey, the wires feel firm. I took the two ends of the wire and tries to GENTLY spread them and could but it seemed firm. So I tried that on the Freya Arabella and it seemed much less firm. On the Cleo Lucy it spread and twisted! On the Chantelle Rive Gauche, the wire spread and twisted. Wow. I had not idea.
Aside from the slightly pointy shape I get from this bra, I love it. It's super comfortable. The straps are soft and stretchy, which is how I prefer them, and the band is nice and firm. The cup is like microscopically too big and with the slightly pointy shape that means it might be a good candidate for the Bras I Hate alteration to give it a more rounded appearance.
It's so comfortable though. It's pretty perfect. My 30FF was too small in the cup - I thought it was the wrong shape for my boobs, but it was just too small. The 30G I have is in the mint color, which to me is not as cute as the chocolate brown, but I will live. Yay!
First off, wow what a pretty bra. I love the colors. Now that I've gotten that out of the way... I'm looking for a good non-padded bra that not only offers some support but gives me some cleavage as well. So how does the Kathryn measure up? I wasn't sure how Fantasie bras compare to Freyas in terms of cup size and fit, so I tried a 30G first. While the wires came back far enough in the sides, there was some gapping at the top even after I scooped and swooped. So I went down to an FF, with better results. The cups seem wide enough and go ...far around the sides enough. I fill out the cups after scooping and swooping. The band of the Kathryn seems looser compared to, say, a Freya Tabitha plunge with a 30 band. I tried putting it on the second set of hooks to compensate. I hesitate at trying out at 28 band, because ribcage is 31" and unless Fantasies have a reputation for being REALLY stretchy, I would probably suffocate D: While I feel like this bra technically fit, I also feel like the Kathryn is designed more for breasts that are full on the top, as opposed to full on the bottom, like me. While my breasts were lifted, the top of of them did not have the illusion of fullness that I'm seeking out. Like, the shape wasn't quite as rounded as I like. If I were to compare this to the Freya Tabitha Plunge, I would say my boobs looked better in the Freya. However, this could be a difference in cup size, as my Freya Tabitha is 30F. So in conclusion, this is a very pretty bra that fits comfortably and the wires go fully around my boobs and all, but it stops short of giving me the ~*Perfect Rack*~ --whatever THAT is. I bet if you have breasts that are full on top, this bra will make your rack fantastic, though!
[edited on 2-26-2013 to add]: Now that my underbust is 30" I would say that this bra is getting too loose. I'm using the tightest hooks, but I can still shove four fingers through the back of the band https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> I can no longer say it fits because there's also a small issue where the underwires go into the sideboob area. Well that's a shame, because the Rebecca is quite comfortable. I could sleep in it if I wanted to! And I've gotten used to the boob shape. Oh well https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> maybe this will be the bra that I experiment with band alterations https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> Read more 345 more words
The fabric is too stretchy and the underwires too flexible. When you put the bra on, the wires stretch out and collapse so that the gore can't sit flat on the sternum and the wires poke into the breast tissue. It seemed like the cup volume would be appropriate were it not for the cups stretching out oddly and flattening in the center, creating quad-boob on top and excess space on the sides.
