    Didn't fit

So I don't own this bra anymore - but for me this used to fit like a pretty 'typical' UK 32G. No very noticeable excesses in cup depth, width or height.

Fantasie bands do tend to run a tad large, like Freya's, so this 32 fit me on the tightest hook. The shape is somewhat vintage/pointy, but in a way that I don't mind.

There are some common fit issues for me, that apply to most of my 'off the rack' bras with no alterations:
    - Strap placement (too wide)
    - Gore (too high)
    - Cup edge (too closed off)
    - Projection (not quite enough)

Most of these issues just have to do with my ... build I guess: tall-ish roots, close set (when supported), more projection than I used to think, and apparently I have a sensitive armpit area? My FOT tissue makes me prefer a stretchy upper cup (which Alicia sadly doesn't have) - and often I lean towards too-small-ish rather than too-large-ish bras.

    Some of these issues have actually eased a bit over time, with my breast size 'settling' over the past couple years, some aging / gravity and also losing a tiny bit of weight, my upper fullness has gone down a bit - which makes average cups cutting in slightly less of a problem. There's always a bright side, right? (;

Also, despite these (normal to me) minor fit issues, Alicia was actually very wearable, quite comfortable, the fit was pretty decent overall.
I did love the general black & pink 'blossomy' aesthetic of this bra!

However as I owned wayyyy too many not-quite-perfect bras; when I moved countries last year it didn't make the cut.
It ended up finding a good home with a friend's sister though!

Alicia -in different colorways- as well as her sister cuts are still pretty widely available (eBay, BareNecessities, Bravissimo) and I think they could work very well for many people. All in all it's a supportive yet 'dainty' looking bra, that is well suited to a variety of shapes I would think!

The Great Amazon Prime Wardrobe Try-On, Part 3
My shape: full on bottom, soft tissue, narrow shoulders/roots.
Appearance: I've been on a beige bra kick, can you tell? https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" /> This one is a pretty caramel-ish color, with white floral lace pattern all atop the cups. The straps are a stiffer elastic with a ribbed pattern. The bottom of the cup is lined with beige satin. The lace atop it is more stiff, and the top of the cup has a thin piece of elastic at the top edge to help keep it close to the chest.
Fit: As you can see from the pictures, ... this bra is too large in the cup for me somehow. There's massive gaping at the top, and I can't fill the bottom because of the wire shape mismatch. These wires aren't as wide as the Jacqueline I tried in the same size, but still too wide for me. The straps are placed wider, as well, and dig into my armpits.
Yet another swing and a miss with my third Prime Wardrobe box o'bras. (So far? 0/24 I've tried have fit. wompwomp) I'm running out of styles and brands I can try in my size! Hopefully, Amazon will expand this service to offer more brands. Overall, however, I'm grateful for the chance to try all of these on and give my opinions and measurements to help with the database here.

    • Fantasie used to be such a reliable brand, but seems to be more of a hit/miss situation now a days. Sorry it didn't work out for you. (Hooray for Prime though, right?) It's definitely great for the database!

    • The only time I bought a fantasie, I checked here first and saw the cups ran large, so I bought a cup size down.

I really want to like this bra because style-wise, it is super cute! I love the crochet lace. The color 'fawn' is a really pretty, unsaturated purple/tan.

I think the fit in the cups is good, which have enough depth for my projection. Though, the wings are a bit longer than I'd like and extend past my breast tissue. While shirtless, the lace chafes my underarm because of this.

My only other complaint is that the band is pretty loose for a new bra, I can easily wear it on the third hook without being uncomfortable at all. On the first hook it actually allows the gore to lift ... slightly at the top. If I were to buy it again, my suggestion would be to go down to a 30 in band size, just to make sure I can wear into it over time.

The cups are very stretchy, which while comfortable, makes it not very supportive. Also, because my breasts are very soft tissue, the seams of the bra - especially the horizontal one where the lace ends - cuts into my breasts and creates this very unflattering boxy shape / in-cup quadboobing. That seam is a lot tighter than the one above it. Super unfortunate. It looks worse in real life than it does in the pictures.

Great explanation.. AS much as you seem to want to like this bra, the seams cutting into your breasts and the underarm would be a deal breaker for me. I agree is it super cute!

    • billi09 yeah very unfortunate! will definitely be sending it back for those reasons. hopefully will find another cute bra in the future that doesn't do that!

    Close to perfection!
This bra is my best fitting bra for now. The wires are wide enough for me, no quad-boob, slight wrinkling on my smallest boob. The band is a little big for a 32, I fasten it in the middle hood instead of the first. The design is a classic 4-part cup with side support similar to 30G - Panache » Andorra Full Cup Bra (5675)

    Pros:
-Amazing fabric, soft like silk but still firm and supportive. Not strech
    -Wires quite wide
-Straps are fully adjustable, they are soft and quite pretty
-The bra looks nice, classic. Its nice to have a bra that is not made of lace ... or «spacer» molded.
-The elastics (straps, band) do not cut into the skin (great for my sensitive skin!)
-Good projection, quite deep cups. I would say the projection is a little bit less than 32G - Panache » Jasmine Balconnet Bra (6951).
-Good side support, I feel like my brest stand in fron of my chest, not on the sides. this gives a slight minimizing effect.

    Cons
-Straps might be too wide for women with sloped shoulders. Even if they are wide, the fabric does not cut in my underarm
-Good coverage, not the best bra for showing cleavage
-The shape is a little bit pointy, but I've learnt to appreciate it
-The seams are thin, but will show under a tigh ou light coloured t-shirt.

Love affair with Fantasie is now a marriage of convenience.

    Good quality bra.

Cons: No side support. Note to self: need side support. Seam across cup is super thick and shows under thin shirt. Shape is really bad: droopy, almost squarish. Gore is narrow and yet it seems wide, or the cups splay wider than I am used to/prefer. Straps are so wide-set I couldn't shorten them and have them fit. Oddly, I had wrinkling in the side (due to no side support panel?)

Need a good beige bra and this isn't it.

    Update: late July 2012

Fits better as my breast tissue migrates.

Original review: Same as the Lizbeth--I bought in haste, with a short time to shop before meeting family. Sin in haste, repent at leisure.

Good: straps don't slip! Very pretty. band fits OK for a few hours and then the wires dig in. Gives me a nice shape and really brings my breasts up.

Bad: Wires are far too wide and end behind my arm. Cup seemed perfect in the store but is just a little too big (wrinkles at the top). Cups come up too high under my arm. Same old story: I'm petite and need something that is lower cut.

    Sigghhh.

Update Sept 2013: Finally decided the seam is too bulky and shows through most of my shirts. Good for when I wear layered clothing.

It does fit better not that I know how to settle in to a bra better.

  7. Smoothing T-shirt (4510)

My absolute, absolute favorite bra of all time. Looks great under everything, keeps them up and in front enough for my waist to be defined when I'm wearing something that isn't clingy, but doesn't have the effect of "push up" being obvious. I'm obsessed, I've owned four or five and I wear those bad boys out; even after it's time to replace them, they tend to be better for me than a brand new bra of a poorer shape or quality!

Pros--very comfortable and secure, gives you a fantastic shape
Cons-- very date-night under an outfit, but doesn't look all that fancy once your top comes off.

  8. Simone Plunge (2301)

The size seems true to what's on the label (with a relatively stretchy band of course). Unfortunately, the elastic strap at the bottom of the band has started rolling in on itself and created a sharp edge, which gets quite painful after a while.

Other than that, it is comfortable and the underwires/band don't come up too high under the arms. It does show under clothing quite easily due to the high contrast of the pinstripes.

    @Fantasie Smoothing Molded Strapless

Per HerRoom "Tomina's Tip," this bra cup runs large so they recommend going down a cup size. Im a 32H, center full with close-set breasts. UK 32G is the largest cup in that band that they make.

The wide band is initially very tight, but eventually stretches by 1 inch. It has 2 rows of gripper tape running along the top edge of the band. The band makes this bra feel very secure. I can jump around and it slides down in the front by maybe 1/2". It also has a flat wire in each wing.

The cups ... are tall so I don't spill out when bending over. However, the apex of each cup is pointing too far east-west instead of straight forward. Also the top of the cup and the underwires are quite wide. I usually wear the removable straps crossed in the back to hug the top of the cups inward. This also helps to add a little volume toward the center of the cup. I also have to adjust throughout the day bec my breasts naturally want to move toward the gore and there is not enough volume there, so I get quad-boob. Doing a gore adjustment helped a little to give more volume in the center, as well as wearing the straps crossed in the back, but I definitely needed to use a bra extender. And that east-west problem did not improve.

There are 2 loops in the front of each cup to hook the straps to. The set of loops I use (closest to the center of each cup) tore out from the seam.

I'll probably start a fit request for suggestions once I take pictures, but I found this bra too tall in the wings/sides of cups for me. I'm only 5'2" and it was digging into my armpits and that chubby part between your boob and your armpit (is there a name for that?). I had some wrinkling in various spots depending on how tight/loose the straps were, which I expect with my boobs, so overall the fit wasn't perfect on me, but the cup separation and band size were spot on. I love the soft cups, and think for a taller lady, this bra would be a fantastic every day bra. A note on the straps: As I said before, I'm short; and I had the straps 2.5" from their maximum length. They are stretchy and fully adjustable, but if you're really tall, you might find they're not long enough or dig in.

I already had this bra in a 30G, but the band was too tight. I bought a 32G to be more comfortable. These two sizes have a few differences, first the straps are wider in the 32, and there is a «side support» panel inside the cups of the 32. This panel does not seem to do anything. I do not feel like my boobs are more supported on the sides, or pushed towards the center.

The cups are a little bit big for me, which makes the bra look quite bad. It looks like mw breast is just hanging in a potato bag... But the wires are the perfect width and length for me. I have quite projected brests so I do not understand why the wires are ok but the cups too big.

The fabric is very nice, soft, and the bra is comfortable. I might just alter the cups to remove «excess» fabric.

I loved this bra. It had the shape I have been wanting (slightly pointy 'rocket' or 'bullet' bra shaped) without being too pointy. It had the side support I wanted, but the straps were just to long for my short frame. I couldn't get them to tighten up enough to get the lift that I wanted and it made my breasts point down to the ground instead of outwards. After wearing it only once, I decided I couldn't wear it any more.

Beautiful teal but alas mostly black. Why, Fantasie? I don't want a black bra. The teal part is gorgeous.

Straps are a little too wide set, as per usual. Fantasie, we're not all broad-shouldered, you know. Band seems a little less firm than my other Elodie bought 3 years ago. Everyone is cutting corners.

Fits FOB, projected, close-set. Medium width (I really need narrower but can't find any).

  15. Lynsey Bra With Side Support (2562)

Bought used off e-Bay, so measurements reflect light wear. I use the last hook, which is odd because on Fantasies I have worn for months I still war on the loosest hook. No top quad boob, and I love the side boning/support. However, I am starting to see quad boob on the inside of the cup. My boobs are close set but not incredibly close, but I am falling towards the middle more.

Very pretty dark red/maroon and black--just wish the straps were maroon and not black.

Same style as Lizbeth, just different color. Everything else is identical.

Update: alas, after a few hours of wearing, I get more of an upside down 7 look.

    • 2

I have never experienced distortion that I could identify, but, since you asked, I went and did a little test. On the Lynsey, the wires feel firm. I took the two ends of the wire and tries to GENTLY spread them and could but it seemed firm. So I tried that on the Freya Arabella and it seemed much less firm. On the Cleo Lucy it spread and twisted! On the Chantelle Rive Gauche, the wire spread and twisted. Wow. I had not idea.

Yowza, it is extremely comfortable and I love the shaping it gives me.

The only downside is that the bra is patterned in black and white, and this shows through a light shirt. I wouldn't wear a dark bra with such a light shirt, but the orange T is my go-to for trying on bras. The white patterning is not visible under a black shirt.

    It's a definite keeper!

I usually wear a 32G/30H, but have had this bra in a 32FF. I decided to try it in the 32G, and WHOA! It fits so much better.

It is extremely comfortable. The fabric for the cups is fairly stretchy (thus why I can wear the FF), but still very supportive.

It's a seamless bra, so good under t-shirts. Also, some of the advertising for this bra calls it "molded"... it's not lined, padded, or shaped. It's basically the unlined, unpadded, unshaped version of the 4510.

The only potential "drawback" for me is that my breasts apparently sit quite close together, and even though the center wires on this bra are close together, they spread my breasts a bit.

I like this bra very much and intend to get another in this better size in black.

This just came from Breakout Bras; it was a size and style recommended by the fitter based on other bras I own and those that I've returned. At first I was a little uncertain about it, because I have never worn a molded bra. And I don't love the way it looks when I wear it (just in the bra)... because it makes me feel booby and fat (booby yes, fat no).

HOWEVER, it is super comfortable and it looks GREAT under clothes, so it's a keeper.

There is lovely lace detail under the cups along the wire, and just to the sides of the cups as well.

Out of my molded bras, this one is my favorite. It gives a little lift and is a little more centered (like when you do the elbow test, it doesn't push anything in). I do get a little gap at the top by the strap but understand sometimes that happens with molded bras. I like the shape of it.
