30DD is the second out of three sizes I tried this bikini top in.
Turns out, the 30 band is unexpectedly too small. It cuts into my ribcage (my ribcage is 29" measured loosely), the underwires dig into my ribs, and the top leaves red marks against my skin even after very short periods of wear.
The cups fit well, and thus run large in my impression. As I'm usually wearing 30E as a cup size, I'd say they fit larger due to the slightly stretchy fabric and the open cups.
If in doubt or between band sizes, definitely size up in the band with this bikini. Consider a smaller cup size if you a) prefer a low-cut cup, b) don't have a 100% projected shape.
That being said, the bikini top looks nice and classy, I love the blue-ish shades and the contrasting black seams. By far one of my favourites from Freya's swimwear line.
Another one of the few sizes I tried this bikini top in!
This is my regular UK size of 30E and it has two issues:
- The band is too tight, stretching to just 29". This is definitely a surprise in a Freya bikini top (as Freya is notoriosly known for their loose bands). This bikini is an exception.
- The cups are rather large and covering. There is no gaping by any means, but I feel that cup size might become an issue as soon as I'm wearing this for swimming - remember that swimwear fabrics tend to loosen up and stretch when wet.
In the end, I went for a 32D in this top, which is a surprise given the fact that I'm on the larger side of 30E already in most bras.
When I started with my search for a bikini top, I realized that 30DD fits okay but gapes on the top when I moved my arms forward. Sizing down solved the problem and luckily the bikini still fits without quadboob. I am FOB which should also help. I'm not a huge fan of the design - its okay - but I feel safe when swimming. The top of the bra tends to turn down when I'm swimming which results in the white inner side of the cup showing on the top. I thought about fixing this with a few stitches but I have not tried till now.
When it fit last year it was very comfortable, though the straps were fiddly if I wanted to wear them any way other than tied around my neck. Good material, solid construction otherwise.
I love everything about this bikini! I think it is a really cute design, especially the option to have either cross over or halter neck. It is comfortable and supportive and gives just the shape I like : it has a subtle cleavage, nice uplift, and natural shape. I only wish I could find a bra that fit me this well!!!! It is so confusing to me that Freya (and the same with curvy Kate) bikinis fit just how I like but I can't find any of their bras that fit at all! I wish they would make a bra just the same shape/style/cut as the bikini.
Re ...the fit: I think the back fits nice, although is not super tight. At the moment I am not wanting to wear my bras really tight so I like the fit of this, although I will have to see if it gets loose when I go in the water. I think it is a standard 30. The straps can be worn halter and therefore as tight or loose as required. Although if worn cross over they can't be adjusted. On me they were ok as a cross over, although if I could adjust them I would make them a little tighter.
The cup fits very well. One of the best fits I have ever had. My breasts are full in the centre where they meet and very close together. And not full at the top. Therefore I have mixed results with plunges - on one hand I need the plunge so the wires are low at the centre and not sitting on my breast. On the other hand, I often end up with quad boob or my breasts falling out or being pushed to the centre because of the plunge, and gaping or wrinkled fabric at the top of the cup where I don't fill it out and often plunges seem to be too high under my arms and where the straps meet the cups. But with this bikini none of that! As I said above, I only wish I could find a bra that did the same https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> Read more 255 more words
Any suggestions regarding a bra that would be similar to this bikini would be great! ......
It's a very pretty bikini! I think you need a cup size up as well, both cups have quaddin š
I think the way I hold the camera creates a bit of quad boob, I think if I am standing with my arms to the side it is ok.... But I don't mind if there is a tiny bit of quad boob. I find basically everything is like this! For me this is as close to fitting as I seem to be able to find! So I can live with this even if maybe it isn't perfect, perfect :)
That makes sense! It's hard to get good pics on your own!
This is my favorite swim top! It lifts and supports the girls perfectly and gives a beautiful round shape under fitted rash guards. The blue with white trim is super cute too! And I love the higher sided bottom option that doesn't create love handles.
I bought this one along with the Freya fever. For some reason I thought it would fit in 30E and boy, was I wrong. Iām really sad it didnāt work. It was a bargain and the colour is so beautiful. Unfortunately not only I donāt get enough support, but also I quad quite dangerously. The band - runs definitely loose. Itās even hard to say if the cups are wide enough without altering the band. The cups - I first thought it was wearable but then I realized that the underwires are actually sitting on my breast tissue under my armpits and my boobs are outside the cup. As the band ...is loose, I didnāt feel it immediately. The center gore is floating, itās not even touching my sternum. The cup edge cuts in. The straps - I really like how the halterneck looks on me but I hate feeling the straps on my neck so I wouldnāt be able to wear it even in a right cup size. The bra is convertible though so you can wear it with regular straps. The only hitch is that they are very long (way too long for me) even though theyāre partially adjustable with notches in the straps. Iām not sure yet if Iāll be keeping it ājust in caseā as it was cheap (15ā¬).
I read some rave reviews about this cut, some of them saying it might be better to size down in the cup. Iām between 30e and 30f now, but most of my 30e doesnāt fit me anymore, besides some Freya bras. Therefore I thought it would be safe to order this one in 30e. Well, this cut does run large in cups but not a whole size or at least not on me. Itās actually hard to say if it fits as there seem to be a kind of shape mismatch. This bikini top features some of Freya characteristics I particularly dislike and which definitely convinced me to stick ...with EM bras: - The underwires are shorter than the channels. I donāt understand why they always put shorter underwires. In my case it causes a lack of support. - The part of the cup between the strap attachment and the outer underwireās end is very long, too long for me and it wrinkles. - The upper part of the band is too long and it doesnāt stay put. This bra just doesnāt seem to be made for my shape and proportions. The cups cut in (the quad boob decreases with wear though, itās less dramatic than of the pics) but I donāt think a bigger cup would be fine since thereās already too much room under my armpits. Itās important to note that the cup material is more or less stretchy. Other than that, the band is rather standard. I have a Freya Supernova bikini top in 30F which is super tight and extremely uncomfortable. This one is much looser but still firm and supportive. I think itās ok for a bikini top but would be definitely too loose for an everyday wear. The elastics in the band seem large enough to not cut in. This bikini isnāt a perfect fit but will try it in the water before deciding if itās wearable or not. Read more 209 more words
I bought this and one other bikini while on vacation last year. At the time I thought it was a decent enough fit although I never wore this one, I wore the other one once. It is too small in the cup, which I knew when buying it but it was better than other bikini tops I tried that weren't from full bust brand. I think the underwires are actually fairly narrow for a bandeau as well, but am not sure as I usually don't buy 30D bras. The gore measures wide and tall, but since you can ruche the center it can get narrow and shorter. This would probably work best for someone who is more FOB and shallow.
This top is very pretty, and I'm sure would be lovely if I could fit into it. However, the band is sooooo tight! Even stretched it is only 31 inches... so I'm not sure how it can be considered a 32? The cups are a nice shape and may fit if I could get it on, but as it is I don't really know. I'm sad because the suit is nice looking and well made.
I really like the bright flowered pattern of this bikini top, but I'm going to have to send it back because it doesn't fit me well at all. The wires are really wide and the gore is wide too, pushing my breasts further to the sides than their natural position. The cup is too shallow so the wires also stay low, meaning I hardly get any support, and the volume that doesn't fit in the bottom of the cup quads out of the top (which would dig in even in a larger size, I think, as the edge is very closed). I do like the idea of the ...straps - they are fixed to the top of the cup, with hooks on the back of the band and five different loops on the end of each strap - so in theory you can wear them straight, cross-over or tied at your neck in a halter. However the hooks don't seem to hold the straps very securely, and even wearing the top for just a couple of minutes I felt they were likely to slip out. Tying the straps behind my neck sorted that out and gave more support - but at the cost of putting all the weight of my breasts on my neck, which started to hurt after 2 minutes and would be awful if I tried to wear this top for hours. I have an older Freya swim top that fit well, so I was hopeful this top would be great but unfortunately it has a very awkward fit. The cups are very wide set, and pull my breasts way out to the side. The wires themselves are also rather wide. This top doesn't really offer any uplift, but feels like it is smooshing my breasts down and out. Quite odd all in all.
This was the first cup-sized swimwear that I got! It was quite a relief to not have half of your boobs escaping from flimsy, unsupportive triangle bikinis. I love love love this style. Unfortunately, I grew out of it almost immediately, and later repurchased the same top in 28F - Freya Swim Ā» Calamity Banded Halter Bikini Top (3587) (longer review over there!)
I was going to do a positive review and then I put this on and realized how badly it cuts into my boobs. Oh well.
This bikini is incredibly adorable! It looks like Minnie Mouse. I like the color combination and the shape of the neckline. The decorations at the edge of the cups really make the style. They are a bit impractical though, since they are made from thin strings which can gather sand and mud when swimming in a sea/lake. This doesnāt give an incredible uplift or shape, but good enough for a bikini and still keeps the girls decently in place. Itās also comfortable overall, although ...the neck tie does put some pressure on the neck.
I got this originally in 28E, and then repurchased in 28F after it got way too small. Although Iāve been wearing some newer Freya swimwear purchases more recently, I now realize that this style might actually fit better. Itās not ridiculously wide like some of the padded options. It offers some degree of projection, although still not a huge amount. My biggest issue here is that the trim at the edge of the cups cuts into my close-set, center-full breasts. Itās still not horribly visible, though, and the fit becomes a bit more flexible when the suit is wet. The closed edge does manage to keep my boobs somewhat separated, which I appreciate in something that I wear in public. The gore is luckily very low and doesnāt bother at all. The band feels a bit tighter than standard Freya, and feels snug enough for my 26 inch underbust (at least as a halterneck).
Another slight minus I have of this bra is that itās unpadded. Iām not a fan of nipple show-through, and itās cold in Finland! I also got the brief in size XS. Freya bottoms are usually rather loose for me even in the smallest size, but the swimwear seem to run a bit tighter. These fit rather snug, but are still a bit too high rise in the back for my taste. I wanted to like this, I really did. I liked the design. I liked that it was a tankini. But, I don't like the fit!
Freya bands usually run big in the band and they didn't carry this in a 28 band, so I was prepared for a looser fit. I also adjusted the cup based on the band I was getting, expecting the sister sizing to come to my rescue. At first, it seemed okay, but scooping and swooping was a terrible, terrible mistake. I would have to go up to maybe a 30F or 30FF to fit the cups the quadboob was so bad.
Maybe it's the construction? It doesn't have an underwire, so scooping and swooping didn't really work as well. Also, there's this awkward seam that runs where the underwire should be, but then shoots up at this unnatural angle that my boobs want to follow.
I tried adjusting the straps, no use. I tried not scooping and swooping and felt flattened out a little. It's probably a shape thing, but this isn't for me.
