I finally tried this bra because I've seen multiple comments saying it it great for projected + FOT. My size seems to in between 28FF and 28G, and my shape is projected, FOT, narrow and tall roots, super close-set, soft and self-supporting.
I'm getting wrinkles at the bottom of the cups and near the nipple area. It seems like the projection is in the wrong places for me. The cup depth measures 11" which is a lot for 28FF, but there is not much projection near the wire. I'm also getting some wrinkles in the top of the cups on my smaller boobs.
I think this bra would fit someone who's reeeeally full on top and projected at the nipples but not at the wire.
I thought the Freya Rio was discontinued? I guess not though! I was wondering about this fabric, how would you describe it? I don't think it would work for me, I need a lot of immediate projection.
BraOdyssey It might be, but I still managed to find one! I would say the outer part is a bit rough (?) cause it's full on tiny "holes". But the inside is mesh so it's not uncomfortable.
Daisy is a comfortable 28F and extremely cute, in the pink & grey color. I love the simple ribbon straps with silver hardware.
The shape is fine. I'm projected so most unlined bras end up bullet-shaped, and in contrast this manages a pretty good rounded shape. The angle shot from my photos shows it best. It's not the most perfect boob shape of all time, but I like it and I'm satisfied with the appearance.
(Ignore any visible quadding in my photos... not the bra's fault, my boobs are swelling a little big for all my 28F's that used to fit fine).
I was surprised how comfortable I ...found it since reviews seem a little mixed. I usually don't like wide wires -- I double checked my photos and indeed I agree, the wires are a little wide! But somehow their shape works on my body. ~boobs are mysterious~.
I don't feel anything uncomfortable under my armpits. The wire internally is not too tall at the side, which I suspect helps.
The band is SO comfortable. I feel like that grey band gives the band this feeling of extra comforting stability that not all my balconette bras have. I wish all my stretch-lace bras felt like this at the band.
I love the lace. It's scratchy on the outside but feels elastic and smooth on the inside, so there's no boob-feel scratching. It's certainly smoother than several of my Panache stretch-lace styles. The outside lace might be scratchy long term.
Wish I could keep this bra but I got pregnant and the girls are already swelling. I'm pretty sure my days of being 28F are about to end so back it goes. This was an Amazon Wardrobe trial and the price was decent at $45.
About me: 60HH in Comexim. 28 band in everything, usually 28F, getting bigger these days though. Projected boobs, a little pendulous, soft and achy from hormones/fertility meds. Read more 217 more words
This bra is so pretty. I really like the navy blue with the hot pink. The lace along the top does show a bit in thinner fabric/tighter shirts though.
I like the construction of the cups, it is very similar to a Comexim 3HC bra with a three-piece half-cup constructed with three pieces with vertical seams. It has a nice rounded shape which fits my breast shape really well and looks good under clothes. It is a little shallow for me and I quad out the top a bit. Also, the gore floats off my sternum by about 1cm. This doesn't effect the comfort, but does show the cups are a bit too small for me.
I find this bra super comfy for wearing all day at work.
This was one of the 8 bras I tried in my first Amazon Prime Wardrobe Box! (Sadly, 8/8 did NOT fit) Ok so, what the heck is up with the ONE HOOK CLASP for this bra? So stupid. I don't understand the reasoning for that, other than looks? I dunno, maybe I am weird, but I didn't feel like one hook would support me at all. I can't imagine what someone with larger breasts than I have would feel about this! ANYWAYS! I ordered this bra in two different sizes and colors: this one was the cobalt color in 30G. I usually wear a 32G, but figured, what the heck? ...The 30G is Prime Wardrobe eligible, so I'll take a chance. This bra must have larger cups, because it fit me way better than the 32G did. This sorta feels more than a 32G to me, so maybe order down a cup size if you are thinking of trying it. (The actual 32G was LARGE in the cup and had a stretchy band.) The bra itself is pretty cute. (EXCEPT THAT STUPID HOOK!) The wires are a bit too wide for me, though.
When I first saw the Vixen, I loved its look and immediately thought (or wished?) it could be a perfect fit for me. And it is! Thanks to annabellynn who made this possible via exchanges. It seems like Freya designs some of their plunges specifically for my shape with narrow & deep features. The fit is similar to Arabella or Oh la la. I read comments and reviews which were mentioning the cups being too closed on top, but this doesn't interfere with the fit on me, despite my tall roots. When wearing it I feel as if I weren't wearing a bra at all, but my breasts are simply lifted by a magic force! So it must be magic. And it seems the force is with me, too. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
Looks gorgeous on you!! I so wish I could find a Freya Plunge that fits, but they are too deep when the cup is finally wide enough. Sigh.
Thanks Love4Pollinators! Yes, the unpadded Freya plunges tend to be deep. You might have better luck with their half cups.
My new fav, too! Freya plunges are amazing!
So cool that it works for you! Yay!
The measurements on this look really nice. I've never liked freya because I've always gotten a pointed semi droopy shape but now I'm wondering if I just needed to size down
revisa I think the newer model plunges don't fit as pointy on me as the older ones.
Freya's padded half cups have always been a go-to for me. Fearne was on my must-have list since I saw the AW16 previews. I just love the pattern and the bra looks so much nicer in person than in the promo photos. The material is delightfully soft and smooth with quality finishing. I think it's flying under the radar, and that's a shame, because it's beautiful. Unfortunately, the 4-part padded half cup from Freya is a shape mismatch for my narrow, projected, close-set, FoB, short-rooted boobs. I wish it fit. There's a full review on my blog!
OMG! I couldn't be happier!! I finally found a bra that makes my boobs touch each other! I didn't think this would ever happen anymore! But look. At. This! I am freaking out about it! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":D" />
oh no! :( The decos I've tried bevor in my usual 28FF did the same! I had to size down two cup sizes to get this! I saw you are wearing mostly 30FF, maybe try a 30E? As it doesn't have wires it doesn't poke or anything and its realy comfi! (And it's so funny when your boobs are touching! :D :D :D )
I'm glad I accidentally got sent this bra because it gave me the opportunity to find out which bra in the entire history of undergarments is the worst possible bra for me. I now avoid unlined seamed bras such as this one like the plague. The "fit" was basically what you might expect of a bowl of jelly upturned into a butterfly net. Obviously seams=support doesn't apply to unlined bras when they run into my soft boobs. I have never felt so horribly jiggly, floppy and unsupported in a bra. Not to mention how itchy and wrinkly the cups were. The material is like torture.
0/10 would not bra again.
That said, if you can wear unlined plunges, it seems as good quality as my other Freya bras.
My boobs are essentially liquid by now and still can be very well supported by unlined seamed bras. They just have to, you know, fit! It sounds like this was way too large for you or possibly that you were falling out the middle, leaving the cups not really filled--lack of surface tension in cups = jiggly wiggly saggy baggy.
I am sorry you had such a horrid experience, but I'm absolutely delighted with your review! Very funny. Thank you.
Ugh thanks for confirming to stay away from the Patsy's. I had the same experience with the Freya Ingrid Plunge, ack.
That was funny! Thanks for the review.
wendybien I get your point about fit. I ordered a 30G in the Patsy padded half cup and got this by mistake. I assume that I would need a smaller cup in the Freya unlined bras. I found a Freya Starlet lace at Nordstrom today and tried it in a smaller cup size, but it still didn't work for me. I don't fall out of the center like I do in a padded plunge, but it was still not a good look for me! Weirdly pointy and scratchy.
underwonder Yeah, these styles of bras obviously want more projection and a different shape from mine. I highly recommended the padded Patsy half cup, though.
I'm super projected and the Ingrid gives me that pointy, scratchy shape that you got with the Starlet. Something about the Freya style. I'll try the half cup style tho, thanks!
This review just got downvoted, but whatever, I stand by it. I've tried this and under seamed unlined Freyas in all sizes I could find and they are all a disaster on me. I now realize that I probably have some sensory issues that make me more sensitive to unlined bras than others. Downvotes, really? :P
I did not downvote this, for the record :-P But I can see how someone might, because the review suggests that unlined seamed cups are unable to support soft breasts, which is completely untrue. It is obviously true that unlined Freyas don't work for you at all, so that's legit, but I think someone probably objected to what they perceived as general misinformation.
wendybien Maybe and I believe you addressed that in the comments with me at the time, which I appreciated very much. I have since had much, much more experience with unlined bras, a ton of other Freyas, and I've never found one that works with MY breasts and that's all I can really review about. So for my historical record this remains accurate... I don't mind a downvote here or there, but I think someone is going through a lot of my stuff and downvoting it for fun.
You can't take it too personally. One time I made a very mild criticism of a particular blog and over the next couple days I got a number of downvotes on that comment exactly matching the number of bloggers who contribute to it, which I thought was hilarious :-D They also went round looking for other comments of mine to downvote. I just ignore it, obviously if someone is far gone enough do do that, they are the ones who have a bee in their bonnet. It's not like you get booted off the island based on how many up or down votes you get!
I didn't know if it would work because I had heard that some of the Deco line didn't work with a lot of breast shapes. I tried on several plunge bras at the store (The only demi was a multiway in 30E and I didn't need a multiway). The wires don't cut in, the straps don't want to fall of my shoulders, the gore tacks, I only gap when I bend over etc. as to be expected in a molded bra, but fill it properly with no quadboob when I'm up straight. And I actually have cleavage! In something that's not 3 cup sizes too small!
The sizing advice on HerRoom for this bra states that you should order a band size larger than usual, but I don't necessarily agree with that, at least not for the smaller sizes. I normally would have started with a 28DD but on the sizing advice I chose 30D instead. The cups just fit but the band is definitely large -- I have to wear it on the tightest hook. (Incidentally my actual ribcage is 27.5" ). The 30D band measures 24" long, which is consistent with 30 band sizing. Maybe the bands only run small in the larger sizes? I don't ...know, but either way I will order my regular size next time.
As for the bra itself, I really like it. The seams lie flat and aren't particularly noticeable, even under t-shirts. You can see they are there, but barely. Someone would have to be on the lookout for bra seams! The overlay fabric, since it's not stretchy, ripples a tiny bit here and there because it's not perfectly fitted to the foam lining. This isn't a big deal to me because again, it's barely noticeable even when you're looking for it.
The foam lining is super thin (literally about 1/16" ) and soft. Contrary to other reviews I've seen about the Retro Basic, I find it gives a very nicely rounded shape, and it has great pushup with no padding -- a real feat. The wires are cleverly angled upwards on the sides for great cleavage.
The straps are non-stretch in the front. The gate back is really cool. I had a Wonderbra many years ago that was this exact same style (seamed, plunge cut), with a gate back. I loved that bra and it's the only other one I've seen with this back style.
*** Update *** There are rumors on the web that Freya slightly changed the lining of this bra (apparently it used to be thicker, more like padding). So maybe they also fixed the band sizing issue? This bra was purchased in the Spring of 2010 from Bare Necessities. Read more 251 more words
This bra is totally cute, I love the colour. The pink and green go great together. (I bought the pistachio colour).
The bra is completely unlined which makes it really sexy and seethrough. The seams lie very flat and are undetectable under t-shirts, although I think the embroidery may show through.
It gives a nice natural shape as well.
My only complaint is that the underwires end shorter on the side (2.5cm shorter on the sides) than where the cups end.
Fit: The band is slightly tight, but a 30 would be to big I think. This combined with the shorter wires make it a ...bit uncomfortable, but I think it'll be more comfortable as it loosens up a bit.
The cups fit great, like a glove. Except on one side, where there's wrinkling, but that's kind of expected if you're not the same size on both sides.
Edit: After wearing this bra for a day, I'm concluding that the wires are a bit too narrow. I think it would be perfect if they were 12 or 13cm wide. Oh well, it's still cute, I just need to stretch the wires a bit.
If you have a narrow root, this bra could work for you.
Update: I don't wear this bra anymore. Turns out the cups were too small and it gave me a pointy shape. Read more 121 more words
Maximum sideboob. Is this what people mean when they say a bra is "east-west"-y?
I tried this Freya in 28G from Amazon Wardrobe & I'm bummed it didn't work because the color (Shark) was lovely, the cup lining was comfy, and the 28 band was really comfortable. Probably the best Freya 28 band I've ever tried.
But the cups are just wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too wide.
My boobs were sitting so far out to the sides. There were wrinkles at the top of the cup because there was so much side-room for boob!! Crazy.
The wire was just... in the wrong place everywhere. Not even close to my IMF. My boobs just ...folded up inside this bra. I highlighted the empty space in the photo of my armpit.
Is it too big? I tried 28FF's before this and they were all too small at the cup so I was trying 28G next.
Am I too narrow for this bra? The cups feel just so, so, so wide. I've had this problem with a bunch of "large cup 28's" but I am convinced my boobs aren't that narrow, they don't match the little drawn icon of narrow boobs at all, and I didn't think "boobs across 100% of my front (but not halfway to my back)" counted as narrow.
It's really too bad because everything else about this bra was comfortable - the band felt great (minus the wire), the cups were soft lace and so comfortable, and I loved the color.
About me: Usually UK 28F / Comexim 60HH, but 25 weeks pregnant and +2 cup sizes (for now). Too bad I still need (desperately) need 28's, it would be a lot easier to wear 30s. Read more 175 more words
so, I'm not sure which ones from amazon will work for you? I understand that you prob don't want to invest tons of $ in bras r.n., if your cup size is still changing though.
edit: congrats on the pregnancy! Not sure if I said that before. : )
I wonder if it’s too tight of a band, causing wire distortion and pulling too much on the cups.
It’s been a long time since I tried on Freya balconette styles (in 30F and a few 30FF), but I recall there was significant variability in wire width between styles. And I do remember a few where the wires wrapped around my sides like that.
I’m not sure if there’s an easy way to determine which styles will have narrower wires or if you just have to look at Bratabase measurements for each style.
I think for Freya (could be confusing with another brand though) there is a cup size at which they change the design/shape of the cups for larger sizes, and the wires are wider above that point, but I’m pretty sure that is a larger cup than 28G.
Calluna I wish the band was too tight! Because if I could find a 30 that didn't feel like a saggy bag around my ribcage, I would definitely buy 30s in a heartbeat!! But the band was soooo comfortable. I actually loved the length. :(
I gotcha! Part of the pictures looked like maybe there was a little bit of wire distortion, but I couldn’t tell for sure.
meerkat This particular bra makes the shift at GG, I believe (based on me recently trying on this bra in 30G and 30GG).
callie510 , anya99 has tons of comexims around your new size (60L?) although if you're still getting bigger, hmm.
Ive given another go at the Idol. This time I went up a band and down a cup (actually 2 cups). Now it seems to be well fitting. What can I say about it- the cup sizing goes biiiiiig. And thats a good thing for those who r big-boobed. 36H was parachute , 38G fits well in my opinion. I do have some hopes.. , well - tag removed, I'm keeping it. Wish me comfortableness https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" />
Second attempt with the Freya Fearne and I just can’t get a good fit. In fact, I can’t get a good fit with any Freya bras I’ve tried! And I’ve tried quite a few in different sizes. More on that below...
I ordered this from Belle Lingerie on eBay. They are in the UK (I’m in Canada) but it was shipped to me very quickly, like in 2 weeks. Oh and they accept returns! You have to pay for return shipping but I’ve got the covered under PayPal international returns. Overall a good experience purchasing from them.
The Freya Fearne is quite pretty and the materials are soft and ...stretchy. The cups materials are quite thin.
The band on the fearne is stretchy and larger than the size indicated. The 32 fit me just fine and I’m normally a 34. I tried the 32F and the cups were way too small. But the 32FF cups were too big. Space and wrinkling at the top of the cups. The shape I got looked unsupported and saggy, wah wah.
I find that I get this weird unsupported sad looking shape in all freyas. I can’t quite figure out why. I’ve heard people say some freyas are good for FOB shapes but they absolutely do not work for me. I also find their straps are never short enough for me, I’m always tightening them way too much.
Anyhoo, sadly I’m done with Freya. Why are the only bras that work for me Polish? Read more 141 more words
I bought this on a whim from ebay because the design was so pretty. Freya unlined bras in my calculated size 30F tend to run very large in the cup even though the shape is perfect. As I somehow still haven't learned my lesson, I ordered this in 30F without thinking, but I was pleasantly surprised that the cup wasn't super huge! There is only a manageable amount of wrinkling at the top. If I aggressively swoop & scoop, my bigger side can almost completely fill the cup. I'm so happy with the fit, after I had to alter another Freya bra cup to make it not look ...outrageously large. I have even fullness, narrow roots with slight projection, and lots of Freya bras have great shape for me. As for the band, my ribcage measures 29" and this is perfectly snug. Lots of people say Freya bands run loose, which is probably true since I find many 30 bands too tight compared to this one. Anyway I'm really glad I stumbled upon this bra. Contemplating whether I should try to hunt down the matching panties... Read more 78 more words
Okay, so Daisy Lace isn’t for me after all. I thought maybe the 36HH and 36H were too big, but the 36GG is obviously way too small.
Quadding, not enough projection at the bottom, and a new one for me: spillage on the side! The gore comes close to tacking, but still isn’t tacked. The band is pretty snug, I don’t think it’s actually 36”.
The wires felt okay, they weren’t too wide and didn’t appear to be too narrow.
It’s a cute bra, but it either doesn’t fit or gives me mega torpedo shape in the larger sizes, so Daisy Lace is unfortunately a pass. Oh well!
I recently decided to give some Freya bras a try after years of avoiding them. Back in the day the J+ range was just no good, scaling was just off and they weren't supportive enough. It seems that they improved some styles but there is still a lot of hit and miss going on. Wires in general feel more sturdy in newer bras. This Florri bra from SS19 I'd put in the "hit" categorie. I was shocked at how decent it looks and how supportive it felt. Maybe I just rate it so high bc other bras by Freya were so bad? It's not the best bra out there ...but it's decent.
The fit: I went for 30K here because about 1 month ago my size fluctuated just a tiny bit lower and many of my bands felt too large. I can easily wear a 30 band in this bra when I need 32 in others. So I recommend if you like a firm band, to size down. The wires are of average width and height for the size range therefore just okay for me. I often have issues with too wide and tall wires in the K-cup range. So they did good with the grading here. The cups have a nice depth and the upper section is roomy enough to not cut in on full-on-top boobs despite there is no stretch lace there. The material feels soft and smooth it's a nice woven fabric. the lace is delicate but not flimsy or itchy. Cups in this size are fully lined on the inside. Straps are fully adjustable and quite long so good if you need that. The bra gives a really nice uplifted, front and center round shape. It feels supportive enough for a full day of wear.
I just have 2 issues with it: first the wire channel isn't very much padded and the wire can give me pain on the bottom towards my side until the end of the day. There is some slight wrinkling in bottom so maybe there is not enough immediate projection to fit properly there. It's not bad by no means, I still find this bra more projected than many others in the size range. Second issue is just a size issue as I recently fluctuated just a tiny bit up in size I get slight overspill on top towards the center. The bra is still wearable and one of my better fits these days. That bra is so pretty! I love the stretch lace. Glad it fits you well.
This is a lovely bra. I must keep an eye out for it!
In regards to your pain at the wire, I am going to go on a round-about gander...
With a different Freya bra I have, the cups were too tall, and I decided to do a different alteration than I normally do to get a good fit. Instead of folding and tacking the lace, I shortened the cup at the wire. I folded the material and tacked it in place - no cutting as I was not sure if I would be successful. The alteration turned out beautifully, and the bra is in my rotation. Good fit, no pain, and pretty. Win Win Win!
For me, when the cup wires sit too low, my ribs get painful quickly. With your comments and the pictures, the cup wires are sitting too low and causing you pain. Painful bras are no fun regardless of how pretty they are.
Folding the bra cup at the wire and sewing it down would address the fit and pain concerns. I do not know alteration terminology, but it is like a dart. You probably would not have to do the whole length, just more at the center angling out to taper off at the sides. This alteration would allow you to have that much-needed projection at the wire as the cup is essentially moved down and more room is available at the wire. This would allow the wire to fit further up on your torso firmly into your IMF.
Basically, removing the ill-fitting wrinkled part of the cup at the wire and raising the cup wires off of your ribs for a pain-free fit.
If this works, you've just opened up your world into pretty, more inexpensive unlined Freya bras that do have consistency in their models and sizing. Win on the pretty and win on a painless fit.
I want to know if it will work, so you must give it a go!
bustyand no it's not stretchy lace on this. Maybe it is in smaller sizes? Im this size it has extra lining in top which isn't stretchy.
edit: just checked it, the lace itself is actually stretchy but the lining isn't, which makes it redundant. :/
jazzypants That sounds very interesting and I love to try this with my bras. I have quite a few here that are not super awful but just slightly wrong. I really struggle in my current size with too tall fabric under the arms or / and too much cup height - but at the same time don't have enough room in bottom and top center area. So I dread sizing up bc there will be even more excess material where I don't need it and some bras even poke me under the arms or the fabric comes so high it just bothers me. Do you have pictures of your altered bras? I have sometimes trouble visualize it from written tutorials :S
jazzypants Btw thanks for suggesting and the long comment <3
The alteration in the bra is not visible as I put a liner in the cup. To get a better visual of what I mean, picture this....
Place the bra on a table in front of you with the inside of the cup visible.
Horizontally, pinch the fabric of the cup along the wire for 3 inches length-wise centered in the cup
You'll probably need an inch of fabric in height right at the center than tapering out to either side.
One thing to think of is the height of side wires though you may have enough space to play with there.
I do think this kind of alteration could salvage a lot of bras when options are not readily available or perhaps financially feasible. Or even when the bra is really pretty and everything else is lovely. Basically taking a bra without enough projection at the wire and moving the projection that does exist in the cup lower to where it is needed.
Must try to see if it will work!
jazzypants , that makes ME want to try this alteration. It could solve two problems at once for me. If I get the guts to try it I’ll let you know.
Yes! Let me know and I shout out the challenge to all - I know there are lots of folk out there!
This is my first try with the Daisy Lace Balcony bra by Freya.
As with most Freya bras, this bra has wide wires. Really wide wires. It also has that side pocket where your boobs kinda end up in your armpits. The gore is wider than other Freya bras I’ve tried in the past, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The bra is very pointed at the apex, giving that ‘vintage’ look.
I actually kinda like this bra. It’s cute. The colors of blush and gray (which is also available in the Offbeat Side Support bra) coordinate really well together. The material in this bra is not stretchy, ...so there isn’t a lot of give. I would almost compare it to the feel of Elomi Charley.
The band is comfortably snug. Straps are fully adjustable, smooth, and wide.
The 36H is a little too big for me, but I’m worried if I try the 36GG it might be too small. I think I’ll try it anyway because this bra has really caught my eye!
Yeah! I feel like Freya tends to run big in our size range so I would be curious to see it in a size down on you. It definitely seems big on you, not just in the wire, but in the cup—that will definitely exaggerate the pointy shape in my experience.
I'm brand new to seeking abtf and this was in my first haul of Freya bras, and UK bras in general. So I may not know what I'm talking about! Haha That said, I found this bra to be very wearable comfort wise, and well constructed, so I decided to keep it. I find the band too large for me, however, and it does ride up soon after putting it on but since it's far better than my previous go-to bras/size, and super soft/comfy it's staying for now. I definitely need a 30 band and sadly the sister size of 30E in this bra, and in the longline version were slightly too small in the cup leading to some spillover as it cut in along the top and pushed my tissue around in strange, unexpected ways giving me a bizarre shape - such as a large "dimple" in the bottom of the bra, for example!
This is my favourite bra of all time (so far). It is the first bra I got when I was fitted in March 2020 and have worn it a lot since then. AFAIK Freya bands run a bit loose, so even though I'm a 32 with most brands I got this one in 30. The band was a bit tight in the beginning but after wearing it for a few weeks it's become comfortable. The cups fit perfectly every day despite fluctuations in my cycle. It is my go-to everyday bra and I can wear it with almost anything as it also offers cleavage. The "high apex" doesn't allow for very low cut tops but it's perfect for everything else, even underneath T-Shirts (which I did not expect as it is not padded). Defenitely gonna keep it and rebuy it if it ever breaks.
I thought the Freya Rio was discontinued? I guess not though! I was wondering about this fabric, how would you describe it?
I don't think it would work for me, I need a lot of immediate projection.
