Lovely bra, great rounded upfront shape from the cups - no east-west boobs happening here. Unfortunately they included only 2 columns of hooks, and the band is a firm 29" which makes the bra tend to be a bit too low on me since it's too tight. Would be perfect with another column of hooks. Beautiful print and detailing, love the teeny black and white bows. Feels very well made.
Oh my goodness, the cups on this bra seem tiny to me. It actually looks like I have four boobs. The bad is delightfully small; it's good for someone who needs a 26-band. This bra is very pretty, but it's just too small in the cups for me to wear.
This has a beautiful muted print that is just a tad too big for me in the cups. It is more like a full cup than a balcony, and as is normal for Freya, the wires are not as strong, and the elastic is very stretchy.
This bra would work well under a strapless dress, although I'm not crazy about the shape it gives me under T shirts. It gives a bulky matronly appearance, but with a strapless top it is fine. It fits me better than any Freya I've tried, which are usually too deep for me.
Sigh. Not going to work. Re-ordered in a cup size up after I noticed everyone was saying it ran small in the cups. It seems to want to smash my boobs from top to bottom. I thought about altering it the way brasihate describes in her "making a pointy bra round" post, but I am no hand with a needle and thread, and I figured I'd be better off finding a few more bras that actually fit before I start dicking around with one that doesn't and trying to change that.
Arabella is a very sexy bra. It gives great support for being made out of sheer fabric. I have this in size 30FF which is my normal size in most Freya and Cleo unpadded bras. While I put this bra down as a "good fit", I have to say that the cups run a bit big. While its knockoff Lyla fits around my boobs tighter, Arabella is wrinkly. So I can't seem to quite fill the cups... But on my big days, the week before my period, it fits really well. This is one of my go to-bras during PMS.
I have the Cleo Lucy in a 30G (i believe a 30FF would have been a better choice)... How do you compare the two?
Hi, I think they are quite different. The band on the Lucy for one runs tighter than Arabella's, but I think that's mostly true for Cleo vs. Freya. Freya bands are generally looser.
The Cleo gives a more uplift rounded shape, while the Arabella forms to your boobs, gives a more natural shape... maybe a tiny bit pointy? Again, I think this is very typical of Freya unpadded bras vs. Cleo unpadded bras.
Cup volume wise, I don't think they differ too much. While the Arabella is a bit big in the cups for me right after my period, it fits me well during my PMS when my breasts almost grow a cup size. Similarly, with the Lucy, I can't completely fill the cups on my smaller days, but it doesn't bother me at all. It still looks very beautiful. I don't wear tight clothes and it's not visible under my clothing. I think a cup size down would definitely result in quad boobs.
When I first saw this bra, I knew I was going to get it because I just love the pattern and the colors. Of Freya's padded bras, I have only tried the longlines so far, and I seem to fall in between sizes 30F and 30FF. I have the Piper longline in 32E and the Ivy longline in 30F.
So I decided to order the Totally Tartan in 30F as well. I find it runs slightly smaller than the Ivy 30F cup-wise, so I have more spillage of boob towards the center. Band is quite stretchy. While I have an almost 30 inch underbust measurement, I think I'd ...fit in a 28 band if they made it. The other problem I have with the Freya padded half cups is that the center gore never seems to sit flat... whether I try it in 30F, 30FF or 30G. So I decided the Freya padded half cups are not for me. That won't keep me from buying their longlines though since I love them and they still give great support.
Overall, this bra gives great support, great shape and looks beautiful. It's just a bit too small in the cups for me, so I think I'll list it here on Bratabase since I don't reach for it. Read more 107 more words
Perfect fit. One of my favorite fits ever and very easy to wear. Band is a little small but doesn't dig. Not very practical for tight or non-dark clothing since the print shows through a lot
Stretched out a little, but did very well considering I am a poor college student and this was my only bra some months. I've lost weight so Im not sure how badly it stretched. Very comfortable and sleek. Had no problems with it until I dropped a size. Might be considered a big make.
I love the molded cup for headlight prevention and smoothness under clothes. I usually wear a 34 but this style is woefully off-sized. I have it in a 32 and it's still too big. The cup is almost right on the larger breast and a little big on the smaller; the 32GG (a cup size smaller by volume) fits great. It's not va-va-voom on me, but it is practical and reasonably attractive. I have beige and black and both fit the same although the black measures out a little smaller when stretched; it hasn't been worn as much. The straps on the nude ones are curled; I expect the previous owner machine washed them. It has 2 hooks; I'd rather it had 3-4. It comes up awfully high between my boobs & armpits. It's a little better in the 32GG but still seems unusually wide/tall on the sides.
I love the look of longline bras. So obviously, I've been lusting after the ones that Freya has been marketing these past few seasons. The Ivy is no exception - I love the print, and the style itself is so beautiful.
As far as fit goes, I get really great uplift, and because the band is so wide I feel nice and supported. However, I find that ones again the wires are scooping out wider than I need, and the outer edge of the cup (where it meets the band) is a bit too wide and cuts into my armpit. There is also a tiny bit of gaping, so I think I'm going to exchange this for a 30FF and see if that solves all 3 problems.
Update: Sent this bra back to Nordstrom in exchange for a 30FF - we'll see how that one does.
This was the result of a gamble on eBay. I hadn't tried Freya before and it was cheap second-hand. The band size is good (probably a little stretched from wear). The cup is at least 1 too small, maybe 2, but I wore it a few times anyway because it's really cute. The shape is good (if I overlook the quadraboob) and it's very comfy. In spite of the details (contrasting embroidery, lace trim & seaming), it is surprisingly smooth under most clothing. It is lined (not padded), which is nice. It's a 3-part vertical construction, so the shape is excellent for my fullish-on-top boobs. The underwires are narrower than my other Freyas, which is also good for me. The band has 2 hooks, but as usual, I wish it were 3-4 in this cup size. The straps are similar to the Antoinette, but a little thinner so they're actually good-looking with the plaid fabric. They are fully adjustable.
The fit of the 32GG is much improved compared to the 34GG, but I probably need a 30H. I would be concerned that the cups would overwhelm me on the sides if I went to a smaller band/larger cup, though. If I find one cheap, I'll give it a shot. I don't find this bra to be exceptionally pretty, but the shape is perfectly acceptable and it is very smooth under clothing. Some ladies get va-va-voom cleavage with this one, but I'm not one of them. On the bright side, I don't get quadraboob, which is what I most struggle with. It's comfortable although a little high on the sides/into the armpit (but I'm only 5'3" so taller girls may not have an issue with that). It's the one I choose when I have to wear a smooth cup as opposed to the bra I want to wear so much that I'll figure out which clothes to wear with it - solid staple.
I have the Cleo Lucy in a 30G (i believe a 30FF would have been a better choice)... How do you compare the two?
