Freya Fancies was one of my favorite bras when I was a solid 28DD, thanks to the fact that it's pretty, comfortable, and comes in a beautiful assortment of colors. It took me a few tries to find the correct size as I started my journey with a 28D that I didn't immediately realize was too small and altered and wore for a while before switching to 28DD. However, since I have gone up a cup size in recent months, I noticed the 28DD's wires were too narrow and cutting in on the sides, and the closed top would dig into my roots. I decided ...to size up to the 28E, and I'm glad it still works for me! This review is specifically to discuss how the 28DD fit me, as I am currently a 28E, and my review under 28E is more comprehensive regarding the bra itself.
When I was a true 28DD, my shape was less rounded than it is now, and I was more FOB with a shallower top. I would have trouble at the time filling out the upper cup of other styles, like many other Freya plunges (Fearne, Sansa) and most of the Cleo/Panache bras I tried. This bra surprised me because it actually gave me a really nice rounded shape, very different from the pictures posted here of others wearing the 28D-DD-E size range and looking deflated. The measurements on this bra run deeper than similar size bras, but I believe it's due to the tall plunge cups, since my normal size has always worked for me in this bra.
The wires needed more adjustment for me in this size, however. The 28DD wires tend to have a strong J shape, and I need more C shaped wires. I always had to reshape them if they came in very J to open them up more, and I now realize that it's because the wires were too narrow for me and I really needed something wider. Thankfully the cup shape still worked for me once. the wires were opened up, and the 28DD was a great depth on me. So, I think this bra would suit both narrow and wider breasts as the wires are easy to adjust.
The band runs big, however, so while it works for me, it's hardly what I would call snug. If possible, I'd recommend sizing down in the band and sister sizing up to your normal cup size's equivalent. However, the shape of the cups really suits a round shape best, so I would not recommend this style if you are very shallow or if you are empty on top. It is a super comfortable bra and I love it for summer. Highly recommended if it suits your shape! Read more 364 more words

I should've known to trust the random Amazon review I read before buying this bra that it is a weird fit. I purchased it anyway just to try, and couldn't agree with the reviewer more. This is one weird bra.
First, the cups are made from a lightweight but stiff mesh that stands on its own. Not the soft and comfortable mesh from Cleo Marcie and Curvy Kate Florence, but something with inherent stiffness. Since the cups stand on their own, I can form them into shape without anything to fill them out, and truly see how oddly they are proportioned.
This is a standard three ...piece cup balcony style as found in many of the UK brands. However, the cup here is extremely deep and juts out horizontally for a very deep bottom cup. The side of the cup is shallow, but the cup is very full at a point that is off-center and towards the gore. The top of the cup is extremely closed off and the elastic sits flush against my chest while the rest of the cup is a baggy mess.
The band also seems to run big and doesn't feel firm or secure. I don't know what kind of breast shape this would fit, but certainly someone with extreme fullness and short roots as the style doesn't work for shallow shapes, and the tight upper cup would cut into tall roots. The Freya Starlight Side Support is a nice bra with a lot to like. However, it's just one of those styles I don't absolutely love, since I paid full price for it. Thus, I decided not to keep it, but would still like to comment on this bra's positive points.
First, this bra reminded me so much of the Agent Provocateur Sidonie from AW 2011. A classic, retro-style bra made from rigid, open black lace, Starlight doesn't have the gorgeous daisy lace pattern of Sidonie, but it has a far nicer cup construction and supportive design. This is a three piece cup with side panel ...that is solidly constructed. The band is firm and supportive, and the gore is much taller and more stable than Sidonie. Design details are minimal, with just a tiny ribbon tack at the gore, and subtle gold hardware.
The main problem with this bra is that the lace is SO stiff and scratchy. I thought the lace on Freya Fancies and Freya Daisy was stiff, but that's nothing. If you close your eyes and touch this bra, it feels somewhere between a burlap sack and a fishing net. It's not uncomfortable to me once it's on, but it makes handling the bra very unpleasant to me. The stiff lace also affects the fit, as it doesn't sit as smoothly on the body as a softer material. Ultimately the lace for me was the dealbreaker on this bra, and while I'm sure it will soften up with washing, I just don't want to deal with it.
The other point to note regarding this bra is that it is the exact same cut as the Freya Rose Tapestry Side Support Bra. That particular bra gave me serious orange-in-a-glass issues due to the narrow width of the underwire, while this particular bra fit me fine as the cup width was about 1 cm bigger. Thus, this cup construction plus the rigid fabric is not very forgiving in the fit. There also seems to be something unusual about the grading of the cups when you get to larger cup sizes, based on the reviews of others. Other than that, the band felt secure and comfortable, and I had no particular fit issues. I also tried 28D, which was predictably too small for me, but felt true to size.
This is a lovely retro-style bra, but I would definitely recommend you try before you buy to determine if the shape and fabric are for you. Read more 319 more words
Freya Rose Tapestry is probably one of the few printed bras that I am actually drawn to, since I usually prefer to wear solids. However, unfortunately the shape of this bra is not a good match for me. While Freya lace bra seem to work well for me, I've been struggling with the fit of their fabric bras, and have concluded that the narrow wires in many of the styles just isn't for me.
First, the styling of the bra: I really like the feminine rose print, which has a bit of a digital pixelated effect to make it look slightly more abstract. The fabric ...is a supportive yet lightweight poly/nylon blend that feels really comfortable (same as Freya Fearne), and the geo lace detail is not quite soft, but certainly not as rough as Fancies or the sharkskin-like Starlight Side Support Bra. There are silver connectors on the straps, and the center gore has ribbon with a triangular silver charm. Not my favorite details, but they are subtle and don't bother me.
The cut of this bra is identical to the Starlight Side Support Bra, with a three-piece cup with side sling panel. This shape usually works well for me (Panache Envy), however this bra in particular has very narrow wires. The width of the cups measures smaller than my Starlight, so I get the orange in a glass effect because I can't squeeze in to the cup and fill it out. While the top edge sits flush against my skin, the cup looks a little baggy. If this bra were final sale, I would probably adjust the wires and open them up, but I didn't want to mess with this bra in case this didn't work out, and decided to return it.
If you have a narrower and more projected shape, I would highly recommend this bra as a beautiful and comfortable option. The shape is a little retro, but not as pointy as Panache Tango or Panache Andorra. Overall I love the style, but I need wider and shallower cups. Read more 244 more words
Freya has turned out to be one of my favorite brands because of the availability of 28DD across so many styles, and thus I decided to give the Deco Plunge a try when looking for a new seamless lightly lined t-shirt bra.
However, I was surprised to find that this style fits nothing like the unlined Freyas I've tried. Though I was warned in advance through reviews that the cups run narrow and tall, I really had no idea what this meant until I tried the bra on for myself.
But getting the bra on was a challenge. Since I wear such a small band size, there's been ...less than a handful of bras where I felt the band was too small. This is the absolute smallest of the bunch, and I could barely get the band fastened. On the plus side, this means that the band is very powerful and firm. I would definitely need to size up to a 30 in order to fit this band.
The cups, however, are indeed just as narrow and tall as they were reputed to be. They pushed me to the center and gave me great cleavage, but I really couldn't do much to improve their fit since the band was squeezing me like an anaconda. Unlike Cleo Maddie and Lexi's abnormally short cups, which visually look too small on me despite fitting well, Deco's cups looked disproportionately tall and huge on my frame. Because of this cup shape mismatch, I don't plan to try this in a 30D.
I would suggest sizing up in the band in this style, and avoiding it entirely if you are petite as the proportions may look very strange on you. However, this is the most powerful and supportive bra I've ever encountered, and might be a good choice for those who need a 26 band and can't find anything small enough. Read more 213 more words
I want to love this bra. It's so cute. But I hate it.
The Good: 1) It's cute. I have it in white. It's adorable. 2) The cups are relatively open on top, good for functionally FOT people like me 3) They're not kidding when they call it a half-cup, even on my short roots it only just covers what it needs to.
The Bad: 1) The cups are too small. They don't run small, I've just had some recent tissue migration and figured out that I'm more of an E than a DD. 2) The band seemed to stretch really fast. When I got it I could fasten ...it on the middle hooks but now I have to use the tightest. I've heard Freya bands run bit, but it's only been two months and I honestly haven't worn it that much for the reasons below...
The Ugly: 1) It is ITCHY. Like you know the itchiness of a healing tattoo? Or gravel rash? That but everywhere the band and straps touch. 2) The wires are hard and they dig right into my close-set boobs. I have nasty red weals on my boobs after I wear this bra.
I don't know why I still have this bra. Actually that's a good point. Who wants a Freya Rapture half-cup in 28DD? Preferably in Australia/NZ? Read more 114 more words
When I bought this bra, it was already slightly small. As such, I didn't wear it. Now that I have gained weight, it really does not fit, so it's time for me part with it. This is a solid bra. The cups are non-stretch fabric. It creates a more natural than a rounded shape.
Although this bra is too small now i loved this bra as a cute bra but doesnt give THAT much support and are soft. It tends to make boobs look a bit smaller.
Vertical 3 seamed soft padded bra, very open on top.
Initially the centre gore dug in painfully but after bending them back slightly the bra is much more comfortable. I personally find a bit of quadding in the centre (it seems the gore is slightly too wide for me) but elsewhere the fit is ok. Not sure why but I'm very underwhelmed by this bra, even the appearance!
I find the material a little scratchy but it could improve after washing. Returning due to the too wide centre gore.
I'd read reviews suggesting to order a cup size smaller, and that seems accurate. I'm actually tempted to try two cup sizes smaller.
Stretchy band, and the straps are too far apart for me. I have some empty space in the cups, mostly along the bottom and sides, and I have to choose between the wires stabbing me in the sternum or the gore riding too low. It fits nicely if I clip the straps together in the back (with a purchased band, no J-hook on this one), but I find that too uncomfortable for what would be an everyday bra. It's frustratingly close to a perfect fit. If I pull in as if the straps were attached further inward on the cups, everything falls into place.
It's a good t-shirt bra, and the fit problems wouldn't show under clothing. If it were cheaper, I'd keep it and try to alter it to be more comfortable. The search continues for something actually scaled down for a smaller frame.
This so accurately describes the issues I’ve been having with this bra, thank you! The straps seemed a bit wide and the band too stretchy, though so close to being perfect everywhere else. Guess it’ll be going back for me too.
This is a good bra. The band is a bit loose for a 28 and the cups fit more like E than DD; I've heard that this is typical of Freya. I like the tartan pattern and the little buttons.
