Ahhh I've done it! I've found the unicorn comfortable projected strapless! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":D" />DDD Seriously, words can't express how thrilled I am to have finally found one that works for me. This runs small in the band and large (ish) in the cups. Full review on my blog https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />

      What is the cup height?

    • 1

Now this is great news! So happy it fits you. :)

    • 2

      Congrats on your unicorn! (:

    • 2

What a lucky find. You look great! :)

    • 2

Comfortable strapless seems like an oxymoron. ;-) Great news!!! Beautiful!!

    • 1

      Thanks everyone! :)
I also thought that a comfortable strapless was impossible, but this one is amazingly soft. I've even worn it under sweaters and things just as a normal bra!

amandafire I added the cup height, so you should be able to see it now.

My dh is from a country where I'm almost positive they don't actually sell one pieces so he's a little horrified if I wear one all the time. I'm horrified to wear a bikini most places in public .... So we compromise. I got this for the rare occasion I'm willing to go out in one. I'm pretty happy with it. The wires are narrow and the band is firm. The bottoms give moderate coverage. My hips measure 38" and I bought UK 12/ Euro 40. I often wear size 6 or 29 (US) in jeans if that helps at all. ... The top is built just like a bra except it's got the swimsuit latch instead of eye hooks. The fake tie is on crooked but that's an easy fix. I think the pattern camoflauges underwires and tones down the bra esthetic. I wouldn't have paid full price but I got the set at pretty steep discount so I'm pretty sure I'll keep it. I'll have to wear it around my room a bit more to decide for sure first.

Thanks. I was self conscious even before I had these kids who left their marks. Of course now I think why did I worry so much before when I was 20 haha

    • haha i remember being excited to show a bf my new suit that I thought was really flattering - it had a built in bra that worked for me, and it was a tankini . . . . he was completely disappointed and clearly did NOT find it attractive

But its adorable and so are you!

    • dbmamaz , I'm guessing he felt like it had too much fabric no?

lol yes, i think so. But post-baby bellies are really nothing to look at.

We dated for a month or two before I called it quits. He was just weird. He seemed to want a woman to look good on his arm at fancy restaurants and on expensive vacations, except he was kinda broke.

and thats not at all what I want from a relationship

and he was not honest. and he had awful breath

      gee, i'm glad i'm happily married, dating . . . oy

      He sounds like a treat

come on, i'm sure we all have some awful dating stories. at least any of us over 20?

Never heard about this bra until 2 weeks ago. I had to try it out because it was so beautiful, and on sale.
It looks like it's a seamed bra, but it really isn't, the cups are molded.
I wore this for a few hours while lounging around my apartment, and it wasn't the most comfortable bra, due to the boning on the side. I, very tempted to remove the boning because I won't be able to wear the bra for long periods of time with it in.

I think this would work best on even or FOT breasts; I'm not sure if there's enough depth at the wire for vFOB breasts.

LOVE the fit of the Lepel bras! Super comfy, nice shape. Just wish they had some slightly more fashionable, not-lacy styles. Also wish they made a 28 band. The 30 fits, but once it stretches out it will only *just* fit.

Compared to the Fiore Balconette, the Fiore Plunge has:
    - longer band
    - shorter gore
    - lower-cut sides
    - shorter underwire
    - lace detail on the straps comes to the same height
    - no lace trim on the bottom band.

I wanted to try Lepel Matilda (126304) for long time and now I finally did it. And it's surprise for me. It fits, it's comfortable and pretty and I have it for a good price.
If you also would like to try it, be careful about the colours. Aqua/Purple, Black/Gold, Ivory and new Lipstick Pink/Yellow have moulded cups without seams but Lipstick Red, Magenta/Purple, Coral/Purple have padded cups with one vertical seam and they fit differently. The Aqua/Purple fits me but Magenta/Purple doesn't.

Oh wow that's a tremendous bra! I love the way the purple band feels like it "peeks out" of the cup lace at the bottom! I know you say you don't love the color but for me it's A+++++. Interesting that the different colors have different constructions though, good to know that

    • 2

I love the colours of this bra, and the fit on you is great. What was your fit issue with the seamed cup variant?

    • 1

erispe The biggest issue was how my breasts look under the T-shirt. The bra pushes my breasts together which could be good but it isn't. When I put something on, it looks weird. I don't know how to describe it exactly. Till now I have this problem with all padded bras with one vertical seam, e.g. Masquerade Delphi Basque (6417) and antoinette. However non padded fit well, e.g. 30E - Freya » Marvel Side Panel Bra (1501) or 30E - Fauve » Chloe Vertical Seam Bra (0311).
I tried to take a photo of this in Delphi basque, but it isn't visible very well: https://goo.gl/FXf050

I have a wide and shallow root, and this is tied (along with b.tempt'd Ciao Bella) for the best-fitting bra I've tried. However, both of them give me an undesirably pointy profile, so I will likely have to return it https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />

EDIT: I returned this bra (others on reddit.com/r/abrathatfits confirmed that this style has changed recently, possibly explaining the pointiness), and found that the 30DD Betsey Johnson Eyelet Lace is an even better fit - the band is smaller, and the cups have a nice, rounded shape!

It's the second time I tried a t-shirt/plunge bra since I have registered to bratabase.

I got this bra from Amazon for only 10.99 Euro. The quality is very good, but it seems like a shape mismatch to my projected boobs. The wires are too long and poke into my armpits. And there is still space on the top. Will return it back.

Edit: I think the shapes of Lepel is very similar to the shapes of Change Lingerie. Both of them have long wires and shallow cups, no matter if it is a balcony bra or a plunge bra. I also had the same issues when I was trying a plunge bra in Change store. But the cups of Lepel are a little more separated according to the measurements.

    Didn't fit

I have to say that I have extremely mixed feelings and emotions about this bra. I have a sentimental attachment to it because I bought it at a Bravissimo store while we were on holiday for our 20th wedding anniversary. I have ordered some bras from Bravissimo in the past, though never went to a store because we don’t have them here. I made it a priority to get to one (actually made it to 2!) and thanks for being positioned near Apple stores for the menfolk to occupy themselves while I was trying on bras. I was in between sizes with Freya Patsy half cup which I’d ... really wanted, but this one seemed to fit at the time, and the price was right. The strap is a little twisted inside and doesn’t lay flat (lies flatter once on) and they gave me a discount for it. I say fit at the time, because at that point, I was only leaning forward and jiggling into the cups, and not swooping and scooping as the second Bravissimo store fitter had me do. So once I readjust my tissue, I get some quadding on my bigger boob. That said, I’m not sure if the F would be too gappy on my small side. The slight quadding doesn’t seem to make a huge difference. Now, I tried the 30E on because I had asked for 32DD which is what I had been wearing, and they didn’t have it, but said the bands ran large on this one so they sister sized me to 30E.

What I love about this bra: I love the print. The blue is very nice and the shade of ivory to contrast with the birds and bow is just right. It’s not to jarring...I think it’s rather cozy. The material is very soft. It’s a single piece of foam cup with a silky cover overtop. However, there is a small vertical seam on each cup, which does affect the print placement. The seams give the appearance of it being a sectional cup, but they are a red herring. It’s relatively light compared with my Freya Deco Spotlight bra, and not the boob armour the Deco is. I get a great rounded shape from this bra, both under clothing and...not. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />

The in between and partially irrelevant: The straps are stretchy and don’t have full adjustability, however, I do actually have some space left to tighten as needed, when I usually have to tighten all the way, even when I’m in a snug band. As previously mentioned, the elastic strap inside the printed material is slightly curved on one side and doesn’t lay down flat on its own, but is flatter with wear. Either way, it doesn’t seem to affect wear or comfort.

What I hate about this bra: The sides come up pretty high near my armpit crease, so when I get into certain positions (like moving my arms forward) it cuts into the crease. It’s not the end of the world, but it’s still not super comfortable either. I had this with my Panache Tango II plunge years ago (that was a horrible fit). I have had a few instances where I’ve had pain behind the gore. I’m not sure what exactly causes it. I think that it happened last time after I had been on the couch leaning up against some pillows. I recall the gore feeling like it was pressing in a bit then. Despite it mostly being a good fit, I feel like the wires press too hard against my ribcage sometimes, but sometimes I also think that it’s slipping away from my IMF a weensy bit. So maybe it’s just a wee bit too shallow or perhaps it’s the shape of the wire at the bottom of the cups. There’s just something about the band and/or wires that makes it not feel completely comfortable for everyday wear. I’d love to find something like it but without the fit concerns I have with this. I’m not sure that a larger cup or bigger band would fix the problems with this bra. I really love it it but I can’t overlook the problems I have with it.

Oh I love this print! I agree with you that is the best thing here! I don't know what size your ribcage is, so it's possible it's just doing this due to size per se, but I see some ride-up of the band at the back. You might be able to buy yourself more cup room and allow the band to sit lower and more comfortably by lengthening the straps a good 1.5 inches or more, and readjusting the back carefully. If you're petite or high-set and are accustomed to having to tighten straps to the max, you may not have as much experience as other bra-wearers at fiddling with the adjustment and finding that happy medium where they are just snug enough not to fall off, but still aren't doing any heavy lifting. Overtightening straps is a very common issue that can throw off the fit in ways that affect comfort. I don't know if it'll make it really comfy enough for regular wear but it could help a little for sure.

    • wendybien Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. You're the first, I believe. I don't think I have a comment on the other review yet. Anyway, regarding the band riding up and straps...I did recently tighten them some to see if it helps with the way the wire sits/fits under my boobs. I think that they are a bit tight and can use a little loosening again, though the pictures are mostly from when I got it. As best I can see, the band is straight and horizontal. If it's any lower, I don't think that it will be in my IMF. That said, yes I am petite and have narrow shoulders that tend to slope some. And I always feel like I have to tighten them a bit, though the fitters at the other Bravissimo tightened the straps more aggressively than I usually do. Snug underbust is 29" ish when I measured, but the two fitters here measured me 29" and 28" (respectively) but with a bra on, and iirc 35" overbust with the first fitter. The first fitter put me in 28F Envy and it was too tight...the wires were distorting and I had a valley of squashed skin under the band. That said, I think that a stretchy 28 from Freya for example might be ok. Does this help? I tried putting measurements in today and my recommended size is 30F, 30FF, 32DD, 32E. I've tried a 30FF Panache Clara and it's noticeably too big. So I think that I am mostly 30E/F with potentially smaller Freya bands at 28 (except Deco), and the odd snug 32. Thanks for your help and input! 💖

    • Doh! Double comment! I'm wearing it today and it is ok, better once I adjusted the straps to fit looser again. I started out feeling like it was not good today but I have eased into it somewhat. Perhaps it was me trying the old standby at La Senza a few hours ago and realizing that I have completely sized out of their bras, with the exception of the So Free unlined balconette in 32DD. The band is snugger on it than the lightly lined balconette. But it's not sold anymore/right now. It might return for spring/summer. But yeah, all of the 32 bands were on the tightest hooks and I could get at least 4 fingers in sideways between the band and my back.

So today I got my first ever bra that actually fits, and I am ridiculously happy about that. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":D" /> My evaluation of it is as follows -

This style is great for close-set, FOB boobs (FOT probably won't work so well), and it has moderate lift with quite a bit of projection. I really like that it doesn't make me look huge from the front, which is a problem I've had in the past due to trying to wear bras for shallower boobs. The support is great, which is something that really matters to me as I can't ... stand bouncing.

The cups are unlined, very soft, stretchy lace. I had thought that they might be itchy (I've never been big on lace), but they aren't, at all. The lace is also smooth enough that it looks fine under medium-weight t-shirts (probably won't wear it with anything tissue-weight, but fortunately I don't own many of those anyway). The stretchyness of the cups is going to be a really good thing for me because my boobs swell and shrink quite a bit with my menstrual cycle; I'm a little concerned that it might wear out faster because of that, but it'd be an acceptable trade-off for me, honestly.

The one comfort issue is that the bottom edge of the band could stand to be quite a bit smoother; my boobs are pretty heavy and make the front edge dig into my skin a bit (the band is definitely the right size for me, though; anything bigger rides up like woah).

All in all, great first experience with actually measuring myself and using bratabase!

I think this looks lovely on. I've had this bra on my want to know more want to try list for awhile

    • Lovely! This one is going on my wishlist for sure.

    • I'm really surprised it has so narrow wires so thank you for this :-)

    • Would you also measure the cup height? Please :-) Thank you :-)

    • 1

DressTheTwins - The cups are 6 inches from bottom of the underwire to the base of the strap if you go straight across, and 7 inches following the curvature. :)

    • Do you find the embroidery to really stick out under shirts?

    • 1

revisa - way less than I expected. I added a few shirt pics so you can see, with different fabric weights and snugness.

    • Thanks! That's really not too bad at all

Lilly has a snug and comfortable band, soft fabric and a cute floral and strawberry print. Unfortunately, the cups are very rigidly moulded, meaning it's going to be a hard bra to fit. The cups run large and are asking for more inner fullness than I have while still closing in more sharply than I'd like at the top. The shape it gives me is rounded, but not lifted. There's no gaping anywhere, but I can still feel empty space in various parts of the cup (e.g. the section closest to the gore).

I got this bra because I wanted to try other Lepel plunge bras based on how the Fiore fits me incredibly well! I found this gorgeous red Iris bra on the ASOS website and had to try it.

First impression: POINTY! this is probably due to the one diagonal seam across the front. At first I thought the pointiness would drive me crazy but after awhile my breasts settled well and the bra got it's form back after being smooshed in packaging for a bit. It DOES have a very vintage-y madonna feel to it but the shape grew on me and I really like how perky it makes ... my little shallow even breasts look!

The pads that it comes with are GIGANTIC...they are almost like mini balloons filled with air and were almost too much (gave the bra an awkward squarish shape) so I subbed out some thinner softer pads which worked much better. Without the padding the pointiness is a little much but the pads round out the cups well and still fit my breasts in. I think the cups are the perfect size, no quadboobing also because the top edge lace of the cup is very soft and forgiving as well.

The band is actually VERY SNUG for being a 30...I almost mistook it for a 28 at one point. I'm wearing it on middle and sometimes last hook because it's not that stretchy of a band.

Definitely not as rounded of a feel as the Lepel Fiore and might take someone with more even/full on bottom breasts that are moderately shallow...size 30B ran true to size with me, similar to 30B in the Fiore.

Very sexy bra indeed and easy to match with lipstick red lacy underwear.

Finally found my very nearly perfect bra! This works great for shallow breasts - doesn't cut in at the top, wide underwires, no gapping anywhere. The band does feel very stretchy so I am going to try a 30G because I think it will last longer, but for now this is wonderful. The pads/cookies are removable, so I took out the one on my larger side and it's amazing. Normally I quadboob slightly on that side, but not in this bra! Very cute style too, and unlike most bras that fit me the gore is not high so I can wear low cut tops with it.

I love this pink rose gold color of this bra, but that’s about as good as it gets for me. I was back and forth about keeping it because the color is so nice and i wanted a bra without padding to wear to sleep or while lounging around. That being said the under wire are not close enough together for me at the front so they sit on top of my breast tissue and can cause uncomfortable friction and marks. I really liked the stretch lace but it still cut into me on top but this is probably also due to 30DD being too off the mark for me.

My first and only (so far) order from BraStop came in today and just look at what I got! I've never tried anything from Lepel before but from the reviews on here it seemed like the padded balcony style might work for my wide roots. I'm so glad that I ordered this one. Not only is the color and pattern gorgeous, it fits me like a glove! The wires are wide enough to completely incase my wide roots but the cup doesn't come up high under my armpits so it's very comfortable. The band was very snug, probably the tightest 32 band I've ... ever tried, but I was expecting that from the reviews on here. I'll be wearing it with an extender until it stretches out a little, but this is a minor issue compared to the wonderful fit of this bra everywhere else.

The three seams on the front fabric of the cups are very flat as is the lace at the top, and neither show through my shirts. The straps are very comfortable. Even though this bra has one of the highest gores of any bra I own, it's narrow enough for my average spaced breasts so I don't have any problems with it (no poking or digging). Such a pretty bra, I can hardly stop looking at it. All in all, a great find that makes me wonder about other Lepel padded bras that might work for me.

  16. Babushka Padded Balconette Bra (141104)

    Hasn't set fit

There are so few reviews for Lepel bras and especially this one, so here goes for my first bra review. I ordered this in 30G.

The band, to me, seems true to size and very comfortable in length. It is not tight, but supportive. It fits more like a Freya 30-band than a Curvy Kate or Cleo 30-band if that helps.

The best thing about this bra and what influenced me in ordering it to begin with is that it seems ideally cut for small/short women. I have very short shoulders and high set breasts. This is one of the first bras I have ever put on that had no ... chance of poking my under arm after I adjusted the straps nearly all the way. More on the straps in a bit, but this is a plus for me in general. The coverage was still there on the wing; I had no spillage on the sides. I think it is best suited for narrow to average roots.

But there were other aspects of the bra that were not quite right at all. First, the straps are ... odd. There is only a partially adjustable section of strap at the back, which would normally not be enough for me, but in this case it seemed to be just about enough tightening room. I don't know how tall women would fare. The two main oddities were 1. where the adjustable strap sections connect at the band at the back of the bra and 2. the rest of the strap.

    1. The straps are not sewn directly to the band, but attached to another slightly stretchy piece of strap/band material that is then sewn into the band. I will try and take a picture to illustrate. Basically, in the end, the base of the strap is only held on by one or two stitches. More importantly, these stretchy tabs can be felt very profoundly on the inside of the band. They are scratchy/itchy, especially if you fasten the bra at the front and turn it around.

    2. Second, the remainder of the strap (the non-adjustable, patterned part) is strangely sewn and folded over on one edge, so it feels uneven. Putting the bra on, it rolls and get folded by accident.

Moving on to the cups, I think they are likely true to size, if a tad on the small side for a G. My right side is bigger so I get issues like this a lot, but instead of that causing spillage, the wide openness of the cups on top prevented that and instead caused that weird L-shaped pointed issue with the cup on that larger side. I am slightly full on top, but this bra was not sympathetic even though it is a balconette style.

I couldn't get by with this size, but it doesn't come in a bigger cup anyway. The cups also gave a splayed east-west appearance that did not appeal to me. There was a slightly off-putting pointedness. Finally, the seams down the center of the cup, while smooth in design, buckled a little bit and therefore showed through my shirt in an odd and inconsistent way. The patterned material is pretty and feels night to the touch, but is not sewn so well.

This bra generally "fit". I was so happy with the height of the wings and length of the wires which could not possibly cause me any armpit chafing that I really wanted to keep it. But the overall impression I was left with was that it was not very high quality and rather cheap in its build, choice of fabric and stitch placement. The design didn't feel thought out for the G cup size, rather it was just a scaled-up afterthought; a C-cup bra in G-cup clothing.

Add to that the scratchy bits and when I took it off, there was considerable static cling. I couldn't picture this bra lasting very long. I felt the straps would certainly stretch out and it would get wrinkly with washing. All of that screams cheap to me while the retail price isn't really all that cheap. Even what I paid from ASOS wasn't that much cheaper than you'd get a Panache or Freya for. Definitely a bitter sweet purchase. I will have to return it.

I loved this bra! I have fairly small breasts, and this bra really gives them a nice shape and perkiness. There are very small cookies that you can take out of each cup (little bits of padded fabric, really), but I just keep them in all the time.

There is a lot of lacy stuff going on here. It itches a little at the bottom of the straps. Also, you can see the lace and the seams through a tight, thin shirt.

When I was really giving this bra a good once-over, I realized that some of the decorative pink stitching was coming apart. I ... have had this bra for approximately six months, and for about half that time it was my only bra, and the other half of that time it was one of two bras. The amount of wear showing on this bra seems appropriate for that length of time and frequency worn. It doesn't seem to have stretched out very much--after six months, I'm still wearing it on the loosest hook, and it still fits snugly.

Overall, I love this bra and will buy another soon, when this one wears out.

    Fits

I owe it to Calluna to take good care of this one. The strap is twisted like she said. Honestly, the biggest thing that bothers me about it isn't the twist itself, but the fact that the twist makes one strap thinner than the other lol. Lilly is a pretty typical moulded bra, although I like how the materials feel sturdier than the stuff in major retailers. Except the band, the band is stretchy and I notice it rides up on my bigger side at the end of a day. Too shallow on that side maybe. I deal with it because a looser band means ... less pressure on my sternum from the gore, which I desperately need if I'm going to wear a balconette with a high gore. My bigger side conforms to the entire cup, while my smaller side has some space at the top. The space is really only noticeable if one happens to push or pinch there. The entire bra gives me a very rounded shape regardless. For how closed the cups are, they don't cut in at the top. They are, however, very tall and frequently cut into my tail of Spence. Now I know what people mean when they talk about cutting in at the armpits. Appearance-wise, the bra is a very rich navy and very good condition for how much the label has faded. The only thing I hate is how the bow in the center is beige and doesn't match the very white birds of the print. Y u do??

It looks good! Fits you better than me right now. It’s not a perfect bra but I did really love it when it fit me.

    • Thank you! Not perfect, yes, but certainly welcome as a no-frills, comfortable everyday style.

    Didn't fit

I tried this bra at the beginning of my bra journey and I did not like it then. The wires are too wide, the shape is rather pointy and somewhat minimized looking from the side.
Some years later these points are still true but adding the cookies to the bra plus an additional set of EM cookies makes this bra my best Pushup option for cleavage. It is still somewhat minimized but choosing the smaller size plus putting lots of pushup cookie in it makes the shape rounded and my breasts are shaped up-center better than any Ewa could do. Additionally the bra is super comfy for long days of wear.

Itching at the straps. Lace shows through clothing. Band is too loose for me.
