[Giveaway longline] A very nicely made bullet bra / longline with very sturdy elastics. Non-scratchy, and I would leave it for myself if I wore bullet bras https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" /> fits me perfectly (I wear 32F/30FF).
I got this Triumph Doreen a few months ago as loved the idea of a red bra. In a 34H this is a bit tight for me although it does give a firm fit. Not too much bounce here. Having said that my boobs are rather squeezed in. Gives good projection and looks fine under most clothes. T-shirts rather give away the industrial structure of this bra though, both in terms of the 1" wide straps, side boning and the cup profile. I got this in a K cup as well now and that is definitely a better fit - but not available in red I understand.
This is my everyday bra. K is the largest cup size available at the moment for Triumph Doreen and 34" is the smallest band size. Oh how I wish they would just go down to a 32" and an L cup. This is a very supportive bra with bones at the side and no underwire to dig in. The cups give quite good coverage, just a little tight for me. Strange that on the K cup Doreen the double layer of fabric support between the cup stops about an inch short of the top, whereas in a larger band H cup I have it goes all the way to the top. Does anyone know why this is? I know I could get prettier bras in my size but most have an underwire and don't feel as if they give the same support.
I recently bought a Doreen and I agree it's a super supportive bra!! You know something is odd about the band lengths--a 34 in larger cup sizes is FAR longer than a 34 in smaller cup sizes. I have a 34F and it is as tight as any 30 band I have ever tried on.
I don't know why the design is different in H and K in the bridge between the cups. Perhaps the higher band sizes are comsidered plus size designs and as such have additional reinforcements?
Do you avoid underwires because they press downward due to the weight of the breasts, or is it because you've found it hard to get a correctly fitting underwire that is neither too narrow nor too wide? I definitely love nonwired bras myself, but as you point out there is a problem of availability and choice in smaller band, larger cup options. A well-sized underwire that truly matches your anatomical shape can be just as supportive.
My breasts are very heavy and underwire bras cut in to me. Its also very difficult getting just the right width of cup and shape of wires. Non wired just seem to hold things together better.
Yes I have heard that before from many people. It's just a shame not to have more to choose from! Bra manufacturers are now starting to make more updated-looking nonwired bras but many of these seem to be contoured/padded. The majority of the unpadded ones are in the maternity or nursing segment of the market. Even with these I do have a few quibbles about the design; I find the underbust bands are not wide enough, unlike the old fashioned designs like Doreen, Playtex 18 hour etc.
This bra is a vintage gem but it must be worn with the right attitude or you run the risk of looking dowdy. The size is larger than I need (regularly 32FF or 30G) but the bands only start at a 34. Because it's so supportive in construction, however, it's quite firm and uplifting. VERY pointy shape. Love it with high waisted undies.
I don't think I can write a very fair review of this, as it is hopelessly too small in the cups and a little too big in the band for me.
It creates monoboob, which is quite uncomfortable, especially if you sweat during your workout. The shape looks ok under clothes, but of course there's a lot of cleavage.
It supports ok, even without underwires and the band is decently tight/non-stretchy.
After learning from my wired demi version that the band on this bra runs very small (perhaps all Triumphs do?) - at least 2 sizes smaller than Freya or Fantasie - I went up a band & down a cup size, & this fits very well. It has a generous sized cup, with a gentle diagonal seam that gives a very lifted look, slightly pointy, but a lot more rounded than the wired demi version of this style.
I actually prefer this wirefree version. The only downside is that it came with very rigid side stays there were the most difficult to remove of any bra I've ever ...had. Which I supposed tells you how well-made it is, as those babies were anchored very securely right into the seam. It took nail scissors & seam ripper to remove them, but once I did, the bra become quiet comfortable. As with all the Amourette styles, it has very pretty scalloped lace all along the neckline & halfway up the straps, so if your bra peeks out, it gives the look of a nice camisole. Even though this bra has a 70 band, it runs small. It has the volume of a 28E or 30DD. It's a bit big in the cup unless I have cookies to help fill the upper gap. Even without cookies, this bra lifts and pushes me together nicely without a bunch of flattening or wrinkling at the sides of the cup. Gore is comfy and low but doesn't jab. The straps are a bit wide on me, and the sides are pretty high. The wire doesn't stab me, but it's a bit too high under my arms. Absolutely gorgeous bra, though!
This is my mom’s old bra. Waaay too small for me. I’m like a 30D or something. I love the removable bra bumps though, so I can remove the ones from my bigger boob’s cup. I wore it for a night out and it wasn’t very comfortable, mostly due to fit, but the fabric is also not as soft as other bras.
When they said Modern Lace + Cotton, they really weren't kidding. It has some cute and stretchy lace along the tops of the cups, has some super comfortable cotton lining and binding, and it's modern by having what really seems to be moulded cups in spite of the former traits. The only seam is the line between the lace and the smooth black polyester, 3cm away from my own apex, meaning it must be 5cm away from its own.
There's nothing inherently bad about moulded cups, aside from the fact that, like padded ones, they are pressed into their shapes via a boob-shaped mould, and if your own boob doesn't fit it, then there's going to be some problems. I feel this already with substantial wrinkling, particularly along the centre due to my splayed shape, and there's empty space along the top because I'm not as shallow as the bra expects me to be.
It's a shame, though - this really is quite a comfortable bra, but I'm going to give it a pass.
I'm surprised how well the underwire fits under my breasts. There is also very little wrinkling in the bottom, which is a problem of mine. However, even though there's no spillage, no wrinkling, and no digging, I can't help but feel like it's not deep enough anyway. This is a high apex bra - the seams meet 13cm from the bottom, and my nipple is 3cm too low and too inward from the bra's apex. This probably contributes a lot to the squished feeling. I imagine that this would be nice for shallower breasts with high apices.
A version of Doreen for more sensitive bodies, it's only 22% cotton overall, but I admit it's much more comfortable than the regular Doreen. The edges are finished with binding ribbon, so they don't dig into the underarm as much, and the cloth is much finer, so I don't feel like I'm wearing netting around my boobs.
I made a comparison between the 75G and the 80F - Triumph » Doreen + Cotton 01 (10004928) , as I am between sizes and wasn't sure which one to get. Compared to the 80F, this gore sits exactly on my chest which is quite a surprise for me, seeing ...as it didn't for the 75G - Triumph » Delicate Doreen Non-wired Full Cup (10135874) The wrinkling in the centre-bottom is still present, but it is far less noticeable. The apex difference is about 13mm, which shows in having a tiny bit of empty space where the bra expects my nipple to be, and it tends to slip below the seam which doesn't happen on the 75G Delicate. Thankfully it's not terribly noticeable under a shirt, and the balance of cup feels much better than in the 80F.
This was a good exercise for me (albeit an expensive one). I'm glad to know that I fit a 75G much better than I would an 80F and it's really down to the minor difference in projection. The Doreen is still a better fit for those with more full-on-top and non-splayed breasts, but it still provides more than enough support and comfort for me. Read more 154 more words
It is interesting that, compared to the 80F - Triumph » Delicate Doreen Non-wired Full Cup (10135874), there is so much more empty space in these cups, not only along the top but also toward the centre due to my splayed, full-on-bottom breasts. There is about 15mm difference between my nipple and the bra's apex. There is not as much wrinkling on the bottom of the cup aside from the splayed bit, so I appreciate that.
Compared to the 75G - Triumph » Doreen + Cotton 01 (10004928), there's still somehow 0.3mm of space between the gore and the centre of my chest - in ...spite of there not being much to be lifted from. I suspect it's because the band is bigger, therefore the rest of the bra is constructed in such a way as to expect more... just, in general. I do feel a little bit like I'm wearing an old sock.
For those who want to try a Doreen bra and have full-on-top breasts, I would recommend trying the cotton version as opposed to the lace, as that would accommodate you a lot better. Read more 81 more words
A nice lacey version of the Doreen. A key difference here is that the cups are not cut into the chest panels as in the regular Doreen; instead, a lace strip is drawn from the strap to the centre and the top line of the cup is elegantly sewn along. In order to stabilise the lace the strap hooks are in the back; they are still fully adjustable, however.
Instead of three panels to make the cup, there are only two drawn diagonally. This created a smoother line and it does comfortably cross the apex whereas the regular Doreen is likely to be off by a centimetre or two. ...Due to a lack of cup separation, the upper cup's panel actually makes a sharp curve downward to finish the gore and I must say it helps distribute the tension caused by splayed breasts. There is still a minor amount of wrinkling, but as much on the Cotton or the regular.
In terms of comfort, I'd put this between the regular and the Cotton. The scallop binding is quite soft, and the non-lace fabric is a soft polyester which glides well against the skin. Read more 83 more words
The cups are seamless, which actually means that they're moulded to a boob-shaped base. It's nice if you don't like seams, but if your boob doesn't match the boob base to which it was moulded to, you're just as out of luck as the padded moulded ones. These were fine, but there was a LOT of wrinkling along the bottom of cup, which I'm told is due to a lack of adequate projection.
