I wanted to try a corset of the Doreen to see if it offered stable back support, but they only offer cup sizes up to DD, hence sister sizing two bands up. There's only two columns of hooks, but it's... fine, I suppose. I don't really feel supported, really, though the fault is mine, of course.
Construction-wise I appreciate the massive 2-inch elastic band, though it's slightly too long for my torso and therefore rides into the narrow of my waist. I like the curved lace panels which provide a nice smoothing effect on the front. Otherwise it's all really very similar to the normal Doreen.
Honestly this is the closest any bra has come to fitting me. It's very comfortable, the band doesn't hurt after a long period of time, the wires don't press against any tissue (a major problem I have with many other bras), and the lace is smooth and stretchy. The only issues I have is slight wrinkling at the bottom, and ever-so-slight pressing against the top of my breasts by the lace edges.
Review by assigned male at birth. This is the third bra I've ever purchased, and last time that I purchased a bra is about 2 1/2 years. It's been a while, but my bust doesn't change much, so I wrote this review comparing last one.
This bra is made by Triumph (Japan), but it can be purchased only by Nissen. This one is designed as (kind of) "Shaping bra", so it has wide wing & strap, and cup is slightly narrow. Cup is made by felt, which is quite thick. Wing is meshed, 1-layer. There's no side bone, although there're some fabric(something hard than other fabrics, but very soft compared to side bone) instead. Underwire is soft(er than a bra that I bought 2 years ago).
This is one of my favorite bras. It manages to be practical and sexy at the same time (I'm a sucker for black lace). It is also very comfortable and supportive. It fit perfectly after getting my breast reduction, but now that I've gained a little weight, it cuts in just a tiny bit at the top of the cup, but this isn't noticeable under a shirt. I also feel like the lace and seams are not (very) noticeable under a shirt, which I appreciate.
Best sports bra I ever tried on-- very supportive, minimum movement when running. Very comfortable straps that can be hooked in x shape. The cup area is only one fabric-thick (with thickish non-breathable sports fabric), so your nipple curves may show up a little--but it's still supportive, especially on the sides.
Unfortunately I bought the biggest size they had in store, but it was still too small for me, so I need to get 75F (which they have available online!) Would definitely buy this bra if I ever have to run.
Really comfortable bra that doesn't show up under thin t-shirts. Pretty good side support, but the cup wire was too wide for me because I got a bandsize too big (on the shortest hook, it was wearable, but the wires dug into my chest cavity a bit.
Overall, the bra's very supportive, even though it doesn't have wires. Has sports mesh material lining the inside, which stops breasts from feeling yucky after sweating. the straps are wide enough to not dig in, and there's a j-hook that allows you to convert it to x straps (which makes the straps short enough to wear during exercise!) One of the cups is slightly too small for me and I get some breast tissue picking out at the top, which then gets compressed by the elastic-y material lining the top--but that's a personal difficulty with having asymmetric breasts. Even though my breasts are wideset, I find my breast tissues get squashed towards the sides a little bit; but that may be just typical of sports bras (I never had one with cup sizes before). Great for running up stairs in, and comfortable enough to just wear as day-bras if you have an active lifestyle. Would recommend for any type of medium to slightly hardcore exercise if you have bigger breasts.
An extremely beautiful bra that seems to be of good enough quality. I'm not exactly sure how to describe this bra, since it's a bit quirky. This bra is listed as a bralette and has a shape typical for them but has underwires and even extra bones in the sides. Notably the wires curve upward only slightly in the middle. Finally this is not a longline bra as such, but there's a delicate frilly part under the wires that give it a slightly longline-ish look. These unique features made me buy the bra. The cups and the band were true to size and fit me well when I ...was trying this on. Unfortunately I found out, having worn it for a day, that the straps that are very wide dig in very painfully into my armpits so that it gets uncomfortable pretty quickly, which is a pity, since otherwise this bra is great. If you don't typically suffer from straps being too wide apart, perhaps this is not a problem for you (for me, it's a constant problem). Other than that this bra is very comfortable and pretty and gives a very natural, beautiful shape. Read more 87 more words
It was one of my faveourite bra, when I didn’t know anithing about bra fitting. Very good support, T-short br. Material is nice with small pattern on within. Padded at straps.
I used when I didn’t know anithing about bra fitting many years ago and I was in other size range. It was supportive I would recommend if the measurements really fits.
Gorgeous, good projection, underwires slightly too wide for me. Not sure why the color is called "highlighter orange" because it is a lovely pastel peach. The lace is really pretty. It's somewhat stretchy and not itchy at all The straps are nice and wide. They are not too wide set for me, which is rare. The gore is wider than I typically go for, but it didn't bother me too much. This bra is however too small, with wires that are too wide and not enough projection for me.
This is a comfortable bra with an ultra high apex for everyday wear under sweaters or looser/thicker fabrics. I tend to wear it in the summer under my linen button down shirts.
I reach for the Amourette when I'm not concerned with having a perfectly rounded, front and center shape. The lace cups are stretchy and give me a more conical, pointy, east/west look than I would like.
I have this bra in beige in a UK 32E and in black in a UK 32F. I am between those too sizes, unless I have my period, in which case the 32F fits best.
I bought this one in a silly attempt to get one of my old tried and true bras that used to fit, in a size closer to my current one. Since Triumph only makes to a K cup (EU K, not UK K) and the smallest band is a 70/32, I decided to go ahead and spend my PayPal funds on this one in a 32K (32:11) to add to the database if nothing else, as my being a 28:16 the chances of it fitting wasn’t very high.
This one is labeled as padded on the bottom, ...but it is not in any way. The inside of the cup is lined/reinforced on the bottom but it is just a thin piece of material and not padding at all. (Think Ewa BM/SF bras.) There is only one seam on the bra, in a diagonal direction across the cups. The lace is stretchy, but unlike my former bras (70H) that had full stretch to the cups, this one only stretches on the top half of the cup due to the reinforcing material on the bottom half. I am not sure if it was because they redesigned the model (the old 3 I had from more than 10 years ago) or if it is due to the larger cup size. The color I ordered is called “Powder plum” and is a light plum purple, but definitely not lavender in color. It is quite pretty.
The band measures 25” flat and stretched to 31.5”, so it was quite firm for a 32 band. There are 3 hooks and 3 rows of eye loops.
Cup Depth as measured by: 1 Hovering the cup between the knees, then placing the tape measure into the cups without any resistance. This measurement is: 12”
2 Placing the cup over the knee and stretching it similar to what a breast would, to the maximum resistance. This measurement is: 14.5”
I feel these two figures give you a general idea of the minimum and maximum depth that the cup can accommodate, just like the flat and stretched band measurements do with bands. Since Bratabase only has one cup field, I enter the larger of the two, as it’s this larger number that determines if a cup is going to fit me or not since I am on the max end of the cup scale, but do realize that some may need the lower number to determine fit for their needs, so I will always include both figures in the reviews for full disclosure.
The wires are wide at 7.25”, the cups tall at 10.4”, and the gore wide spaced at 1”.
I still tried it on, even though it was definitely not measuring to my needs (band too big, cups too small, gore too wide.) The fit wasn’t as terrible as I imagined it to be. The band felt comfortable loose, and while the gore sat 3.5 fingers off my sternum and on by breast tissue, it didn’t “feel” terrible and didn’t cause any quadding, haha. I think I am actually going to keep it as a comfort /lounge bra, as I desperately need some option to give me a break from my Ewa bras every so often.
Edit 7/27/18: Yeah........this did not work at all due to the cups being too small/so far off the gore & the band being too big. Oh well, it was worth a try!
Final note: It is a gorgeous bra, and the wires are super soft like a flex plastic, so it would work well for those who want a wire without it feeling so rigid.
My shape: full on bottom, soft tissue, narrow shoulders/roots. Special thanks to MamaPagan for sending me this bra (and many others!) to try on! This is a well-worn, well-loved stretch lace bra in an eggplant color. The ink on the label is worn off. I have two others of the same style in blue and gray color, as well. The cups don't have enough structure to support me; there is only one seam along the top edge of the cups. This would be a super comfortable sleeping bra, though.
