How to enter Roman numerals?

I am trying to add a couple of Chantelle bras to the database and I get stopped when I get to entering the sizes on the bra label. For the US , UK, EU ect. are no problem ,but, the size for CZ/IT it says "Invalid size for CZ/IT" when I enter what it says on ... my brs's label, which is the roman numerals 'VI E' . I don't get it? From what I understand VI means 6. Just plain 6.
Because of this I can't enter these two bras of mine. Has anyone else had this problem or know what I can do?

• I have one bra that had a size or two listed in a "nonstandard" format that Bratabase did not accept as valid. I think I just left the sizes that didn't "work" blank.

  Roman numerals is a new one on me! I never noticed, but just checked an old Chantelle bra I have - it is a UK/US 34 band, with an Italy measurement that says III. Now I am questioning everything...

• @AllyBra, My @Chantelles are both size 40DD's. so I'm thinking that the VI is the symbol for 40. If that is the case then V would be 38 and then IV would be 36. And III should be 34. Is your @Chantelle a 34 band size?

• I didn't see your size available anywhere either, but it might be worth contacting an independent boutique and asking if they could special order the size for you. Not sure if it is possible right now as many suppliers are currently limited due to COVID, but it's worth a try.

  Petticoat Fair in Austin, TX carries this style, so perhaps they can order your size for you.

• My first thought is that the bra isnt deep enough in the cups so once all the tissue is settled in its pushing it down maybe? Sometimes I think things fit til I scoop and swoop and then they really really dont ....

• If you call.your post office and give them the number and tell them where its coming from they should be able to track it from thier end.

• Did you ever try Bravissimo? The Alana bra is one of their bestsellers. Wires are average, cups are not too tall, upper part is more closed so it's good for full on bottom. Cups are deep and projected (not as in EM bras) but not shallow. The bra is very supportive.

• I did but I didnt size up and it was too small so need to get a 34F to try! Otherwise it was promising

New Model by Cleo

About one month ago I checked Lace.de again to see if there's anything new to try. And I found this: Jorja Balconette Bra. In my impression, Cleo usually makes their bras in lively neon colours and flower/animal patterns, but this one is completely different. It has lacey padded cups with an elegant rose colourway. Although it is called a balconette ... bra, it actually looks more like a full-cup bra. According to the stock photos, it has tall cups, tall center gore and tall wings with 3 hooks at the back. And I feel the cups are also wider than other Cleo bras.

I haven't purchased it, because I'm afraid it won't be a good choice for my close boobs. If you are a fan of full-cup bras or any similar styles, then it can be your musthave. Just try it out and write a review on Bratabase!

• Ooh, that’s beautiful! Not typical Cleo at all and I love it. Not that I dislike the neon colors, but a lot of their prints are a bit... out there.

Bra style questions

Hi. Hope all are well! I've been wearing bras a long time but I'm still not sure of a few things. I'm hoping someone can clear up a few questions I have about a few bra style descriptions. So, here they are.
1. "What is the difference in a full-cup and a ... balconette bra?"
2. "Are side- support bras considered full-cup or balconette bras?"
3. "What are plunge bras? Full-coverage or blaconette or could they be both?
I'm kind of confused because some bras that are called balconette bras look to me that they should be called full-coverage because the cups seem to cover more of the upper part of the breast. It seems to me that what are usually called 'balconette bras' the top of the cups are cut straight across horizonally kind of like a balcony.

• From what I understand, the difference between the two is construction. A full-cup bra often has straps that are more centered on the cup, balconette bras tend to have straps that are attached closer to the edge of the cup (closer to the armpit). Balconettes do tend to have a "straighter" line across the top compared to other bra styles. Usually, a full-cup bra covers more of the breasts, but I have seen bras labeled full-cup that are not "full coverage", and bras labeled as "balconette" that basically cover the entire breast. Marketing weirdness? Construction diagnostic I don't see or know exists??

  I think a side support bra can be either full-cup or balconette, it simply has a panel or sling on the side that pushes the breast closer to the center. If you see a bra described as a "4-part cup", it almost certainly has side-support.

  A plunge bra is a bra with a low gore. The cups are generally lower cut in the center and higher cut on the part close to the arms. Some cover more of the breast than others, but the "diagnostic" quality is the low gore.

  A lot of sites and blogs have different descriptions (some contradictory), so it is no wonder people get confused. If you REALLY want to make yourself crazy, try to define the difference between 3/4 cups, balconette, and demi-cups. Even if you manage to define it for yourself, no two sites or blogs will agree with you or each other.

• Hi! Welcome to Bratabase! I'm a UK 32J too, and Bravissimo bras fit me best. Which ones did you try that did not work?
  I also find Elomi to be too wide. I recommend trying Sculptresse in 34 bands. Their bands are firm. I tried a 34H Candi bra and it was not a bad fit. It fitted more like a larger 32 band.
  Also Ewa Michalak SF and BM bras could be good for you, cups are deep with lots of projecton, wires are narrow. Wires are not as tall as on Panache.
  You can add the bras that you already own to the site, then you can get better recommendations and ask for fit help.

• I’d look at Bravissimo. Maybe they aren’t narrowest but you might find something decent. Alexa, Niya, Elise non padded. I’ve got narrow , projected roots and best fitting is Ewa BM cut, but I find Bravissimo to do decent job.

Too picky or just not a perfect fit?

Well, it's about the slight wrinkle once I mentioned in the fitting request again. Today I just made a sketch of the mark that this bra had left. It doesn't run along my IMF at all when my boobs are unsupported. But my breast tissue can approach the sketch as I gave some lift. The bottom of this bra can be filled too when I wear it. So I don't know if this phenomenon can be normal or not for a well fitted bra.

Maybe someone here can help?

• Two potential issues come to mind. First, it looks to me that you would actually be between 32E and 32F, and the cups are a bit small for you in this size. You mention having firm tissue, and it’s possible that the wires are too narrow for you, so your firm tissue is pushing the wires down because they’re too narrow. The cup volume might be appropriate, but the wires might be narrow for you. Keep in mind that this might not happen until you’ve worn the bra for a bit and it settles on your body—it might be sitting in your IMF properly when you first put it on. I think this is also what is causing the “wrinkle” in your previous post since the fabric is being strained from too much tissue squeezing into a part of the cup that doesn’t have enough room.

  The other possibility might be due to the bottom left or bottom center situations in the below diagram, where the breast is slightly folded over the IMF, creating a space below. This could happen if the cup is too shallow at the fullest part. If you press your breasts against your chest, you may see that the bottom of your breast folds over the IMF. Based on your braless photo and firm tissue this is probably less likely than the first scenario, but possible.

  Thank you for the reply. According to my trial experiences, I guess the cup width for about 15 cm will be optimal (I think I have wide roots but I don't have very clear root lines so I can only guess). About one year ago, I purchased my first bra (Nadine 3/4) from Change Lingerie. The wire is 15.2 cm wide and fits very comfortably, but unfortunately the cups are too shallow. A few weeks ago I ordered a Comexim Victoria 2HC in 70HH. With some calculations I can figure out that it may have 15.3 cm in cup width and 23.9 cm in cup depth. Hope it will fit.

• I haven't got any e-mails from Comexim yet. But as I know, the whole German borderline will be blocked soon because of the virus. It may affect the Comexim delivery.

• Hopefully mine is in transit. But wondering if it’s going to be quarantined at customs. My initial one was sent, but whether or not I get it due to it somehow being sent as USA destination instead of Canada, I don’t know. The second one was supposed to be sent the day after I emailed which was a few days after I got the initial tracking information. So who knows.

• My understanding is that the 2HC has a wider and shallower cup than the 3HC. I have a few half cup reviews in that size range if you have any questions. I’m still trying to figure out what my best size and alterations combination are.

  I saw your profile and found that you have a Victoria halfcup since 2018. Is it a 3hc or a 2hc?

  There are 2 versions of Comexim Victoria halfcup on Bratabase. I may have ordered the 407 version, because the photo on Comexim website is the same as the stock photo on Bratabase. Actually I am not certain if the 407 version is really a 2hc, maybe I just saw this somewhere.

Maybe a little picky, but it can help.

Today I read a post of bra science by 'The Photog's Brog' (the link below). And suddenly I know the main issue of my recent post of fitting help about Cleo Marcie (link: http://bra.pe/T9h/), even the awful fit of the both Freya bras I have had.

I have even to FoB and close boobs, but they are also a ... little splayed at the bottom. Cleo Marcie has a narrow gore width at bottom, so it makes the slight wrinkle that I mentioned in the fitting help. Many Freya bras may be very shallow at apex, so they are suitable for the typical FoB shape with less top fullness.

So please measure the cup depth at apex and the gore width at bottom to make sure the bra fits your shape perfectly (and additionally for Jj : please improve the measurements system if it is possible).

• I always measure the cup depth three ways, though it’s usually the same result in two of the three if not all. Wearing the bra, I see the deepest bit, and then over my knee I measure with the bra facing me, and the wires (back) facing me. I also tend to add a little bit of tension to flex the wires some. As for the gore, I follow the instructions on the site and measure at the top. I agree that it would be nice to have a field of the width at the bottom though, demonstrating the angle.

• I have the opposite problem, and have just started to realize the importance of gore width at top and bottom. If the wires splay out too much at the bottom, I end up with wires sitting on the tissue because there's not enough room for my center fullness at the bottom.

Question, which bra fits better?

32J - Bravissimo » Alana Bra (AU01) vs 30K - Bravissimo » Olivia Bra (LN473) ?

So with the 32J Alana I have the issue that the top of the cup just cuts in a bit, the bra is not made for my fot shape.
I decided to try Olivia which is the same cut as Alana in ... a 30K to check if I can get a better fit if the cups are taller. (obviously you expect K cup to be taller than J cup)
With 30K Olivia I have the issue that the wires are too wide, the straps too seperated but get good coverage and cup edge does not cut in.

So there are issues with both bras. Which fit would you choose as superior over the other?

• I think it depends on your breast condition. If you get swelling boobs easily during ovaluation, then the Olivia will be the better choise. If you get weight lost, then maybe Alana.

  Maybe you can also set a pad in Olivia to have a balance if it is possible.
