Pros: >A nude bra that fits me! I've mostly only found Cleo bras to fit me, and I love that they're bright and happy, but a girl needs some nude. >A plunge bra that fits me! Oh my gosh. My boobs ALWAYS fall into the middle and quad it up, but not on this one! >Gorgeous Cons: >The center gore DIGS into my sternum. Red marks and pain. Yikes. Even when I add an extender to loosen the whole band it doesn't seem to help. I'm going to hold out for a few more wears. I really hope it settles down! The center gore is very narrow and low. This makes for a great plunge, and good for lots of folks. I've never experienced this - don't know if it's because of the lowness, the narrowness, or what.
I don't know what I was thinking sizing up in the cup in such a comparatively shallow bra--my only excuse is I desperately needed a lower cut black bra as I wanted to be able to wear more of my black shirts, many of which were cut too low for the nursing bras I'd been wearing quite some time.
Naturally, the inevitable happened: the too-wide wires hurt my sides, the shallow cup still flattened my profile and looked strange under shirts, the whole bra felt oddly tight even though I have others which measure the same or smaller (but when half the bra is taken up by unfilled underwire, ...the stretch in the band itself can't help you, and it just hurts).
Anyway. This bra is clearly NOT for the more projected boob. Shallower shapes will probably find a good fit.
The materials are good quality and the bra is well-made with a lot of attention to detail. Band seems to be made of very firm material, which I like. It's not my taste--Chantelle has repositioned itself design-wise to extend its global appeal by adding a great number of these caricaturally "Fifi the French maid" Disneyland-French designs, which I find cheap and cheesy, not to mention lacking in exoticism as I am French myself. However, to the non-French eye it is probably a cute bra, and I admit I'm curmudgeonly about these things (see above). Read more 131 more words
This bra creates great cleavage without quadboob. I do not use the included inserts, but these do enhance the push up effect. The plunge style and low gore is good for close-set breasts. Be careful not to wash in warm/hot water...I did in and the color of the lace bled into the white fabric underneath. The bra is a bit stretchy...I sized up in band but wish I hadn't!
Although I have some fit issues with this bra, I'm going to call it a win since it's actually comfortable. I tried a 65F previously which should have fit based on my measurements. I just couldn't fill it out and the wires were wide enough for the bra to cut in at the front of my armpits. Sizing down in the cup to the 65E works much better. Nice smooth line at the top of the cups (I most often gape), and comfy strap width. Wires are still maybe a touch too wide, but not uncomfortably so. There's some unavoidable wrinkling along the outside bottoms of the cups- I'm somewhat wide rooted, but my inframammary fold is more V shaped on the outside of my breasts. Since wires are U shaped, when they're wide enough for me at the top of the cup, they tend to leave a gap of empty space along the outer bottom. I'm happy enough with the rest of this bra's fit to live with it.
I'm on the fence. The top cup seam wrinkles a bit, but I think it is due to how it is sewn - since it's wrinkled when I don't have it on too (Think they might have stretched the fabric slightly while sewing). The band feels snug since I think it is max stretched for me on the farthest hook. This might be how bras are supposed to fit, but I am not used to having bands on this tight. (I am just beginning my search for proper fitting bras - I have been wearing 34 bands for years....thanks VS).
Fabric is beautiful. Straps adjust the entire length ...and are cute accordion texture.
I tend to have problems with some bras cutting into the top of the breast causing quad boob and point looks; however this one does NOT do that. Nice smooth rounded shape.
I think I could wear this bra, but as it is, it isn't very comfortable. The bra's cups seem to not be hitting my body in the right place and are wanting my breasts to be closer together than they are; however the cup size seems correct (since if i slide the bra off center it fits in the cup). I wonder if going up to a 70C (32C) would fix that problem? Read more 109 more words
I absolutely adore this bra! It was my first since having a BA, and when I went to get professionally fitted, it was incredible to try on bras and finally feel how a bra is supposed to fit. I felt like I just learned that I had been wearing my pants on backward for my whole life - a pure revelation. While obviously beautifully constructed, its comfort level is amazing every time I wear it. It's a little troublesome to do the whole "hook it upside down and then flip up the cups" operation, because the cups only go one at a time and ...puts stress on the gore, which I am worried about wearing out too quickly. Aside from that, I love the beautiful straps, which are so detailed that I don't mind at all if they show, and the cup is full enough to make me feel very supported while not being so high that I can't wear low cut tops and vnecks. All in all, this bra has been the best bra that I have ever worn and hope to get a few more with recommendations through your wonderful site. Read more 92 more words
This bra fits better in this size than the 80D I had before. It has the bit of extra width that makes this comfortable to wear all day. The fabric on this one (blue) seems less scratchy than the fabric on my old one (red). The band is very snug for a 75, it feels more like my 32 Cleos. Gives a nice lift and looks very sexy indeed.
i really dislike this bra. it digs into my armpits, it gives me NO lift. However, it does cover entire side. But i can't wear it due to the armpit discomfort.
This bra closely resembles the Natori Feathers Contour Plunge (730023) (my current best fitting bra) so I thought this bra would be worth a shot. Well first off, this band is extremely stretchy. This 32 stretched to 34" easily. I had some very minor gaping in the cups, even with the push up pads, but that could very well be due to the band being too large. I was not able to order a smaller band size as the stock was all out. So I guess I really can't say how similar this bra is to the Natori Feathers fit-wise until ...I'm able to find a 65E. Otherwise this bra did seem to be shallow friendly. The push-up pads are removable, and they seem to be a bit over-engineered (I included pictures of them). The last drawback to this bra is that there is only one hook for the closure. This makes the band seem a little unstable, and I can't say that I think it would wear well over time. On the upside, this bra is very flattering. The fabric and lace are delicate which I prefer over the bulkier Natori Feathers lace, which sometimes shows under shirts. Read more 106 more words
When I first put it on, I thought it was waay too large in the cups. But, after scooping and swooping and tightening straps, I realize this is almost a perfect fit for my narrow, projected bottomheavy self. The wires are almost narrow enough, the cups are perfect, and all my underarm flab is neatly encased. It's a lot of bra though, the lace comes up so high on my chest I can only wear this under crew neck or turtleneck shirts. Still, very pretty lace and very comfy (if only the wires weren't so long/high up my sternum/armpits)
This was the first "properly" fitted bra I ever had. Trying it on at the shop, I thought, so THAT is what people mean when they talk about a perfect fit. The bra itself is pretty with a lace band, a nice crisscross center gore, gold sliders and hooks, and delicate-looking but sturdy straps. The memory foam of the cups is very thin, so this feels light when it's on, but still gives you a smooth round shape in clothes. It doesn't completely obscure your nipples the way some molded cups do. The band elastic isn't very stretchy. It has two strips of soft elastic along the ...top and bottom edges of the band, but the rest is soft sheer stretch lace. It's very soft and comfortable, but if you like a really firm band, this might not work for you.
I wore this several times a week for about 6 months, and only hand washed it. I think it aged very well - I'm not seeing any stretched-out elastic or fraying ribbon or The only small minus is that those cute gold hooks and strap sliders left tiny green marks in the pale pink fabric when they got wet, probably because there's some copper in the metal. (I filled out the "how it fits" section based on how this bra fits me now. My body has changed a bit, and this no longer works for me. But when it did, it was my favorite.) Read more 138 more words
Attractive bra with delicate lace overlaying a smooth cup, pretty details but still smooth enough for wearing under t-shirts. Removable padding looks large/oddly shaped, but is comfortable and boosts shallow breasts up into a natural shape. My breasts fit well into the cups with OR without the padding, making the bra that much more versatile. Also the straps are removable and be crossed in the back for even greater push-up enhancement.
Band length is longer than other bras I have of the same size, and has a great deal more stretch, so I will be wearing this bra on the second hook right from the start - a little disappointing.
Lace feels high quality, but feels a bit itchy on my skin at the end of the day. Cup feels slightly too narrow for my breast, end of underwire puts a little pressure under my armpit - but not enough to call this a "doesn't fit."
FIRST IMPRESSION: It does not really fit me, but because of the stretchy top of cup, the quadboob effect is lessened. I will wear it until I migrate more and need a bigger cup size.
Wires are too narrow, but they do not poke. Surprisingly comfortable, even though it's not the right cup size. Straps are wonderfully placed. When I can afford this bra in a larger cup size, I will purchase it.
AFTER A DAY OF WEARING: Ugh. Very uncomfortable for me. Wires WAY too narrow and painful. By the end of the day: bottom of wire 1/2-inch to 1 inch under my breast, cuts in at least an inch into my sideboob, tilts upward so bottom curve of wire is away from breast and center gore DIGS like there is no tomorrow. Very wrong cup size - holds bottom of wire away from body. Band - rides up in back
The only con that I can potentially see at this point on this bra is that it may not be tight enough. I can stretch the band out quite a bit when I have it on, but it's nearly perfect otherwise. I feel supported and comfy. The material perhaps could be a bit softer - if you had sensitive skin it might be considered itchy.
This bra is one of my favorites so far. It's a great T-shirt bra; it doesn't show at all under clothes but it still has some nice details to make it pretty and feminine. I measure as a 28 band, and while I would definitely buy a 28 if they made them, the 30 isn't so loose as to be unsupportive. Wire width is pretty average, which is good for me, and has average depth as well.
Chantelle has been my go-to brand for years, but I keep getting sized out of the bras I like. This one is kind of a last resort and I liked it....at first.
It's got the open, balconette shape I prefer, and Chantelle's memory foam t-shirt bras are always super soft and comfy.
The big, BIG downside is that the band stretches out way too fast on this model. I've owned it less than a month and it's already a little too loose on the tightest hook. I can't size down in the band to correct this because they don't make a 34H in this style. This ...is a serious design flaw as far as I'm concerned. Bras should last longer than three weeks.
Once I started looking for other bras, I realized that the fit on this bra was not as good as it could be. The top of the cup does gape a little - not noticeably under clothes, but enough to be kind of annoying. The only thing making me want to salvage this bra is that Chantelle seems to be the only brand that cuts their bras low enough in the armpit to be really comfortable on me. The wire doesn't poke on other bras, but most brands extend the wing up a quarter to a half inch or so above the end of the wire on the side, while Chantelle wings start about where the wire ends. This half inch can make a big difference.
I saw a suggestion on a bra blog to sew a ribbon into part of the band to make it less stretchy. I may try that for days when I just can't stand the high wings on my other bras.
EDIT: okay, I've realized part of the problem: this bra, perhaps more than any other bra I've owned, needs to rest two days between wearings. I've been bad about that in the past, but now that I have other bras that fit, I've stuck to giving this one rests and I'm happy to report that I can comfortably wear it on the middle hooks. The fit issues I was having all but disappear when the band isn't all stretched out. Yay!! Read more 274 more words
I loved this bra until I lost weight. Overall, its just too big now.
I did have the stays taken out of the sides because they folded up and poked into my sides. The bra is absolutely fine without them. Far more comfortable.
I really like the way this bra fits my boobs in the cups. My only problem with it is that I have to use an extender with it and it fits me fine even though it is not a sister size of my normal 40D/38E . And this is one well made bra. I would for recomend Rive Gauche and Chantelle in general to my friends.
This bra model is one of my (few) long-lusted-after loves, although I held off getting myself one for many many months. I STILL absolutely adore it and I am therefore slightly gutted that it doesn't seem to work all that well for my shape ... I'm not giving up though https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />
Bra description:
This is actually one of the more interesting bras I've encountered so far. The combination of the lovely and soft, partly floral lace, the 'pinstripe' centre gore bow and double straps just speaks to me: it's super feminine but with a business-like, tomboy sort of nod, if that makes any sense. ...Oh, and it is a half cup -- what is not to love?! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />
Anyway, the cups and band are all made of the soft, floral lace. The cups are of the two-part, vertically seamed kind. The outer parts of the cups are backed with a fine, rigid, very sheer black mesh. The inner parts of the cups are not backed and therefore have a little 'give'. A narrow band of elastic very lightly 'gathers' the cup edge to make sure it stays flush with the skin. The band consists of a single layer of the same lace and is not backed by anything, but the result is less stretchy than it would seem. The closure is of the standard two hook, three position kind. The centre gore does not come up as high as the wires and cups, which gives it a somewhat 'lighter' appearance. A satin ribbon bow decorated along either edge with a running stitch in contrasting thread adorn the centre gore. The straps are not fully adjustable: a double strap consisting of two narrower bands of elastic adorned in a similar way as the centre gore bow, i.e. with a running stitch in contrasting thread, connects to the cups. The adjustable part in the back consists of a single width of plain black strap elastic. All findings on this bra, including the hooks and eyes, are silver-coloured metal. A silver-coloured metal tag with the brandname 'Chantelle' is sewed next to the closure.
Bra fit:
This bra is not a good fit on me. I'm not sure whether it's simply too big, or whether there's some sort of shape mismatch going on. Anyway, I'd say this bra runs generous in both the cups and band, compared, for example, to the 70D - Chantelle » Rive Gauche T-back Spacer Bra (3282) . I don't fill out the cups by any stretch of the imagination and they come up quite a bit higher on my chest than I expected. The wires are as good as perfect on me though and they seem a good deal sturdier (hurray!) than the wires in the T-back, which make me fear that the 70C I have ordered as comparison will not fit either, but we'll see. I'm not THAT easily defeated https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />
The band fits reasonably well at the tightest hooks, but it definitely rides up on the loosest hooks. Compared to the T-back that fits me well band-wise, this band really runs almost a full size larger. Part of the reason for that may be that unlike the T-back the lace in this Demi isn't backed with anything, part that the band is really very narrow and part that unstretched the band actually DOES measure larger than the T-back. I'm not too bothered by it as it does fit me well enough on the tightest hooks (I don't like my bands tight) and it's an easy fix to shorten the band once it stretches, but still. Sizing inconsistency of any kind is just plain annoying.
Having said all that, I must say that this bra DOES deliver shape-wise: even though the cups are too roomy, the shape I get is lovely and round. Not as centred and projected as what I get, for example, in the 65DD - Ewa Michalak » Hm Gold (267) (which under my current measurement actually is about equally roomy in the cups), but therefore maybe more comfortable for me. It's the reason why I did decide to keep this bra: it's y comfortable and it looks reasonably good under clothing. And who knows, my size my fluctuate upwards again, at some point https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />
Conclusion:
I decided to keep this bra, probably against my better judgement: it isn't nearly as good a fit as I would have hoped, but it's a lovely, comfortable, reasonably flattering, unpadded half cup and I don't really have many of those at the moment, so there you have it https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" /> I'm going to try it in a size down as well, so keep posted https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" /> Read more 700 more words
