    Didn't fit

First thoughts: It doesn't fit and it ISN'T the Marcie https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> after some thinking, this was a size too small so I don't know if it's actually a better fit in a better size.
TLDR: It was the wrong size for me at the time so obviously too small, but even in a more appropriate size the wires are really stiff and the cup depth doesn't feel the same.

Cups seem to small?? Band is too tight?? Gore too wide??
The Cleo Marcie will always fit me and now that Panache is discontinuing it and trying to replace it ... with the Asher, I will be grieving the loss of the future colorways. I have a lot of emotions and thoughts about this bra.
The full measurements are next to this bra review once you click on the review. The measurements are fairly similar to the red 28FF Cleo Marcie I bought at Bravissimo a few years ago. The most significant differences are in the band and cup depth.

Before you read: my underbust was a 30 band (but i hadn't measured myself yet) when i tried this on so it was technically too small, wich is why it was so tight. The band was still shorter than average though.
FIT: Without an extender, this is a poor fit. I measured the band to be 58.5cm and the stretched band to 63.5cm (it stretches 5cm), which means the band is shorter than other bras in this size that I own, which means it's on the lower end of the average stretch for the bras i own. This still makes it tighter than average for Panache, and then the cups are also too small/not deep enough. I can't comfortably wear this for any given time as is. Once i add an extender to the last row of hooks and then clasp it on the middle row of extender hooks, I can comfortably wear it. The cups are still too small and I get quadboob, but it's not as bad, and it isn't painful or difficult to breathe comfortably in. With the extender placed comfortably, I'm essentially lengthening the band by about 3 cm - which would make the band 61.5cm long, and then allow it to stretch past 63.5cm. I measured myself in order to set the fit for this bra, and my Super Tight is 64.5cm. So as is, this bra is tighter than my Super Tight measurement which means it isn't comfortable.

STRUCTURE/COMPARISON: The cup depth and shape isn't quite the same. The seams are effectively the same as the Marcie and so the overall structure is very similar. The straps are wider than average for Cleo bras which I don't mind aesthetically, but I feel like they could slide off my shoulders more easily. The gore is wider, just a little bit. What I've noticed the most after trying a 28FF and a 30GG is that the wires feel really solid and stiff, more so than other Cleo bras I have. The 28FF obviously wasn't comfortable because cups and band were too small, but the 30GG still isn't that comfortable because it feels like the wires don't sit on my chest, but hover in the middle by the gore. this could be because both the wires and the cups are too big. The stiff wires definitely don't contribute to an amazing fit.

DESIGN: The visual design is good, it's a pretty bra. I miss the polka dots from the Marcie to be honest. I don't like the square bow, which only pulls the attention more to the wide gore and wire channels. It feels and looks like a solid structure, like you'll really feel it when you wear it. The wire channels seem wider.
All the seams are well made and sturdy, I don't feel like this bra is goign to come apart any time soon! The black color is a little boring for me personally, but it's preferable over beige. My clothes and bras all tend to be very colorful so a black bra is a little bit of a contrast. It's got non-stretchy power mesh in the cup and between the wing and wire channels, and the wing is made of elastic power mesh. The edges of the band and straps have the typical loop decoration.

Aww, I'm sorry! Both about this not working for you and the Marcie being discontinued :(. I used to love the Cleo Lily back in the day. Thanks for the review, and I hope you find your 'new Marcie' one day!

    • bustyand thankyou! I appreciate the condolances, hehe. the Lily is wonderful but I don't have any sizes that fit me anymore. I do hope I find a new Marcie someday!

    • 1

Maybe it's worth trying to reorder it in 30FF? It doesn't look that bad on you

    • 1

Orange_Kate Already done :) It should come through the Brastop exchange form. I'm willing to give this bra a try. I have yet to upload photos of the fit with an extender though, where you can see that the cups are too small.

I just found out about this discontinuation business and I might cry :( I have Asher but it is NOT the same. It's not nearly as projected.

  2. Blake Balconnet Bra (9151)

TLDR, very stylish and looks great, but ultimately not the best fit for me. Love the visual design of this bra.

DESIGN: I first had this bra in pink, but as I grew I had to part wiht it since it got too small. I prefer this specific one's color scheme though - turquoise/aquamarine and black is really stylish, it feels classy.
I like the overall structure of this bra and i really enjoy the way they've accented black vs aqua in this bra. Black cup edge, straps and the top most part of the band in the back. It gives a sense of that the curved shape of ... the band continues with the straps when it's worn and i really like it!
The hooks are black too and so is the text on the inside of the wire channels that says "Crafted for fit. Styled for fun". The strap adjusters and eyelet that attach the straps to the band are aqua. One of my favorite things about how bras are made is seeing how the colors complement each other!

The cup fabric has really nice pattern. It's hard to describe the pattern exactly, but it looks like the bra fabric has millions of little dots weaved into it. Pretty cute.
The color is a little greener in real life than in photos, it resembles the results you get when you google "aquamarine color" more than "turquoise". The bow at the gore is OK at first look, but when you look closer you can see the black ribbon actually has a diamond pattern on it, which makes the bow secretly stylish.

FIT: I wore this regularly for a little bit, but I'm not sure for how long - it's a long time ago and it would not fit with an extender now so I'm not about to try it on. This bra doesn't have enough immediate projection for me so it ended up sliding down and digging in to the top my stomach skin during the day, and the cup edge would cut into my inner full tissue a little bit. It wasn't super comfortable and the fit wasn't always super flattering, but I wore it because I felt cute in it and honestly, what a mood.

QUALITY: Solidly constructed, as usual from Panache. Seams are good and even. The wires are stiff in usual Panache fashion.

    Didn't fit

So, this fits loads better than I feared it would, but it's not perfect. This is a very pretty bra, the nude color is great with my skin, and the full band is fantastic. The cups are molded and stiffer than the Deco strapless cups. They do not curve up at the edges like the Neve did. They don't show under tees, at all. In a nutshell: highly supportive, broad, tall, very shallow - almost flat. (Jedi voice): *If you are FoT, move along. This is not the bra you're looking for...*

BAND: Very tight. I could have done ... a 30 band, but oh well I have an extender on it. And I want my strapless bands to be tight. It feels quite firm though, so unsure how much it will stretch.

CUPS: Very wide and shallow. I have very slight quadding on my bigger side. The wires are very long and the cups are tall. I could have used another cup size of depth, but then the wires would have poked me. I'd rather tuck a bit of quadboob back in once in a while than live with armpit murder. As it is now, the cups are tall enough to contain all the tissue under my armpits without stabbing me.

It's the only strapless bra I own right now and it's not perfect, but it's better than I thought it'd be. For those 2 reasons, I'm keeping it. I agree with the previous reviewer that it's a smartly designed bra - if you are broad and shallow.

*UPDATE* Ended up returning this after trying to wear it a couple times, and collapsing the bottoms and sides of the cups. This is quite possibly the widest, shallowest strapless bra on the market, and when I bought it I just didn't have a good grasp on how narrow and projected I really am.

Well I've worn it all day and can say it's still comfortable and I've done minimal adjusting :-) The full band is brilliant, it's padded at the gore and underwires for comfort. It makes it thicker but I don't care.

    • Hmm, I can't see in your review why you passed this bra along. Did you find a better strapless?

    • No I didn't, yet. But I got this when I had no idea what my shape was & thought I had wide roots. Ha, ha. I need to update this review. It was uncomfortably wide & shallow. Like every other strapless on the planet. I collapsed the cups. It didn't take long for me to despise this bra.

I just love this set! It's sooo pretty! the pictures don't give this bra justice! the colour is so gorgeous! And the ruffles on the panty! stunning!!
The bra is great and comfortable, but I think I will try a marcie in a size down, as the wires are too wide and I think it would bring my boobs a tad more centred in a 28F. The top is acually not completely flat, but you don't see this under clothing!

I did get this stunning set through an exchange from another user and I love it! Thank you so much!!

    • I have been wearing it for a couple of hours now and the wires do poke a lot in the middle! :( :'( but it is so pretty!! :(

    • I will just see it as a "half a day bra" :D

    • Would bending the wires out away from you a little at the gore help?

This is such a lovely color on your skin tone!

    • Love it in this color! Cleos often run tight... try an extender and see if that helps with the gore.
I found the Marcie failed to completely center my boobs in any size. I think it has to do with the design of the cup, not the size. Might also not be helped by the wide wires and wide-set straps. I don't think this is really a design that will bring the boobs together a the center, it is more geared to push them up if that makes any sense.

    • Thx wendybien, if I use an extender its too wide :/ I think I'll have to take it off after uni and then it will work :D

Wanabee: is it just pushing them away or how do you do it? Thx

    • 1

      BronteBeach

If the top of the wires are poking you at the gore, you'll want to bend those tops slightly away from your sternum. It might work best if you do it while wearing the bra, if you can use enough force with your hands in that position. Then you can do it a little at a time until you achieve a good comfort fit. Gentle use of a pair of pliers with their jaws wrapped in a clean rag might help too.

What the wires are made of is important. It will affect how maleable they are, and how well they retain their new shape. But you'll just have to work with them a little to find that out. 😊

The band on this bra runs tight and doesn't appear that it will stretch quickly....currently waiting for the extenders I ordered. I can wear it this way but the cups are distorting because the band is too tight for me and the underwires dig so bad they leave bruises.

Cup shape is very open on the top, I can't get it to dig in no matter what position I try. Probably the cutest bra in my drawer at the moment. It's a true red, not orangey. Mine did need some stretching on the diagonal seam as it cut in slightly but it did ... not show under shirts and was very minor. The gore is quite narrow. Overall it fits very well. I slip some comfy cups/no peek pads in and no worries about nipple show through. Seams definately show in most of my summer shirts which I don't particularly care for...but it's pretty enough that I wear it anyway. Quality wise...there were some loose threads but nothing that looks like it's going to fall apart. It gives a very rounded, uplifted, up front shape and is more supportive than Lucy....I can jog in this one with minimal jiggle.

Edited: The extenders arrived and what a difference! The underwires no longer bruise my ribs and the cups fit perfectly with no wrinkling. I needed two positions looser than the loosest hook at first and now just one. This bra is getting a lot of wear! I don't think I would go up a band size personally, just because it will last longer this way. I think this is one bra I will actually end up buying in more colors...especially the aqua that's supposed to be coming up!!

    • Just grab the puckery part on either end and stretch it. Works best while wet. Mine doesn't do it at all anymore.

    • Ugg, I keep trying, but the in-cup quad-boob keeps getting worse. I'm at the verge of tossing this bra! It looks so disgusting . . . like camel-toes on my boob (only the bigger side - i wonder if its worse because the cup is slightly too small on that side?)

This is my favorite bra, the nearest to perfect that I've ever owned. The fit and shape are spot on. It's smooth and the seams are low-profile under clothes. I love the geometric patterning. Unpopular opinion, but I consider this a huge improvement over the Marcie.

Asher displaces my previous favorite everyday bra, the Freya Rio (also in 28FF). If you are a Rio fan, you should definitely give this a try.

    • Have you ever tried the Cleo Lily? You're two volumes larger than me but the original Cleo Marcie and Cleo Lily both fit me like a glove so I've been interested in the Asher as well. Was wondering if the Lily worked for you as well

    • I've never had a Lily, but I have the Cleo Meg in 28FF -- I think it's a Lily precursor. Can't be certain whether the cut is absolutely identical, but definitely very similar. Meg is a great fit too, pretty similar to Asher. By far the biggest difference is that the cups are lower profile than Asher's. That coupled with the projected shape yields a jiggle factor a tad higher than ideal for me in Meg :)

    • Thank you for the response! Someone on reddit let me know that the Asher is actually on sale on Amazon so I'm trying it in two sizes (another Bratabase review in my size said it was large for them in the cup)!! Very much looking forward to trying it out. Thanks for the reply!

    Hasn't set fit

Cleo Sofia is a Marcie/Blake cut bra with a stretch lace overlay in the front only. This overlay adds a bit of compression, giving a somewhat minimized, sports bra or bralette look. The lace overlay extends about an inch above the cups. I personally find it less comfortable than Marcie, but YMMV. The straps are only half adjustable, but the unadjustable portion has some stretch. Unlike some bras (looking at you, Cleo Mimi!), my 5'4" self still has plenty of room to adjust in both directions.

The lower section of the cups is made from a single layer of sheer, non-stretchy mesh. The ... upper section is made from opaque, very stretchy material, that appears to be the same as used in the back band. The top of the cup is bound is a way that makes it very stretchy, much more than the similar looking Blake. This stretch, combined with the higher up lace overlay may work for taller rooted people (in my short rooted opinion!).

I've uploaded some pictures showing the interior, but haven't figured how to link them to the review.

    • It’s definitely an interesting style. Something that could easily fill the bralette look.

    • This would be great under a V neck!

    • That looks interesting, like a cami with a built in bra.

    • Do you find it also that it runs slightly big? I need Marcie 30FF but this one in 30F is like just ok, tiny bit too small in cups but 30FF was massive tho..

    • martka00 I feel that the elastic upper cup makes the cups themselves functionally bigger/more open than Marcie, but the compression of the overlay makes it TTS for me.

I had a similar problem with Blake and Hettie, though. With those, the 28FF was support-free, and the 28F quads if I move. I blamed the elasticity of the cups. That might be the case here, as well

  8. Breeze Longline Padded Balconnet (9025)

Is this the perfect bra to wear under a white shirt? Hell no. Is it adorable? Hell yes! This is the first 28FF bra I’ve purchased after trying 28Fs/30Fs/30FFs/a Comexim 65HH. I’m happy to say it fits very well! I don’t think I’m enough of an expert to judge whether it fits perfectly, but it’s comfortable (straps are a little wide-set for me) and the fabric is very soft. The print is loud but adorable! It gives me a smooth appearance under a shirt - not cleavage, but definitely lift. The longline is maybe a little difficult to deal with, but no more so than other longlines. If I felt really daring I bet I could wear this as a crop top! I can’t speak to how well it holds up under wear (lol), but it seems to be nicely constructed. It’s very reminiscent of Bravissimo Esther with, I think, somewhat taller cups.

I've had such high hopes for this bra! The longline design, the unpadded cups, the fun colour, the pretty lace - what's not to love? It really is a great bra, and I'm happy that Panache is trying out unpadded longlines. However, the cups are not a perfect fit on me shape-wise, even though their volume and bottom projection seems to be ok.

Nice things first: the colour is as pretty in person as it is in photos. I'm not a great fan of neon accents, but on this bra they are contained to a tiny centre bow, which could be easily removed, and the hooks. The lace doesn't ... look luxurious, but it does look good and quite elegant even, and the eyelash finish along the bottom edge is a nice tough. I also enjoy how it's paired with the mesh upper part of the cup, which has a very subtle dot patter. The inside mesh lining is soft enough and I experience no discomfort, but then I'm not particularly sensitive to rough fabrics. The straps have comfortable soft lining and are fully adjustable.

The band is true to size, barely stretching to 28in. I'm wearing it on the loosest set of hooks and its plenty snug, more so than my other Cleos with a 28 band, but this impression might be partially caused by the longline design. The gore tacks with no issues. I have no problem with the sides being too high, but it's a problem I never experience, having breasts which are set fairly low on my chest. For the same reason, the band ends rather low, at my natural waist, which I think looks ok, but would be a problem is the band was even a bit longer / my torso was a bit shorter.

Now on to the main problem. The top section of the cup is really closed off, something I've never experienced in any Panache/Cleo soft cup bras. My shape is rather even, I wouldn't classify it as FOT. This leads me to believe that my roots must be long, and therefore not really suited to this bra. I tried hard to convince myself that the cups look good enough, but when I keep my back really straight, the spillover is impossible to miss (as shown on one of the detail shots). Sadly, I think I'll still have to wait to fulfil my dreams of a well-fitting longline.

Hey, I found a Marcie that works for me! Thankfully, no in cup quadding in this colorway. I hear that problem has been fixed with the new run of the nude ones, but the white dots on the nude colorway make it useless for me as a nude so I'm not interested in finding out first hand. Regardless, this is pretty good on me despite being recommended for FOT/tall roots, of which I'm neither. The cups do gape a little bit. Nice projection at the wire. This particular color has an extremely tight band. Not sure if that's true for all the yellow ones or if it's just mine, but I need an extender at first. BTB even asked me to verify the stretched band measurement since it's only 26.5! Full review on the blog.

I like that the band runs small as I'm realizing i haven't got a good UB measurement from my shape and a semi recent collarbone fracture making it hard to get& I'm learning it's smaller than I thought. You always look so great in bras!!!

It's such a great fit on you! It's crazy to compare how tall the cups were on me compared to how they look on you - it's definitely fitting you way better than it would have fit me. I also remember the pink color way running small, but I think my newer ones are more TTS despite the gaping problem (and then the raspberry one being kinda loose). LOVE IT! Band Length - 23"
    Cup Width - 6"
    Cup Depth - 9.25"
    Wire Length - 9.375"
    Cup Seperation - .75"

    Purchased from BareNecessities.com 10/2011

I read reviews and had purchased this bra on HerRoom.com but they cancelled my order (backordered but then they changed the stock to discontinued), so I was able to find it on BareNecessities. But the reviews I've read for this bra on HerRoom and on here indicate it ran small in the cup, which makes sense because I think most ... of Panache's bras do, so I ordered a cup size up from my usual and it fits perfect!! I was almost regretting it so I wouldn't have to pay for shipping, but I'm so glad I stuck with my first choice! And for a cup depth of only 9.25" this is a measurement you would normally see on a size 28F (DDDD/ and a US-G). I now know what size to order in this brand =)

    Pros:

-T-shirt bra, so a hell of a lot more functional than other bras from this brand and other European brands, the foam is not thick enough to add size, but enough to be modest.
-Vertical seams help create a more American-style, rounded silhouette (if they had been your traditional 3 seams this would give a pointed shape, even with a foam cup), and it also helps to direct you front and center.
-Wicked cute fabric and details!! The lace at the top of the cup is not stretchy but it is the correct size for the remainder of the bra (finally!)
-Lining on inside of cup is cotton, much more comfortable than comparable brands.

    Cons:

-Center gore in front sticks out a little bit, but this is because it's more for women who have a bigger stomach as it's curved up quite a bit (mine is pretty flat, tapering to 24" so there is a little shadowing/space under this area). Not really a problem, but some might consider it as the band being too big, it's not. Panache either makes partial banded bras or full bands for "thicker" frames. =/
-Straps don't adjust short enough (I did not put this down as a fit problem because for now it's fine, though I will probably have to alter the straps in the future).
-A few unfinished/raw edges inside the bra, and some sticking out on the cup. Quality could be a little bit more impressive considering the cost.
-I can close this on the middle hooks already as a brand new bra, so this doesn't run quite as small in the band as some other styles from Panache. Not a problem for me, but on others it may be.

    *Update 10-2012*

This fit before but had some problems when it came to the shape. Before the seams in the cup would point to the sides at the bottom and to the center at the top, kind of like a forward slash, backward slash. I added a dart in the center gore, which took out about 1.125" from the band length so it's more snug, and now the seams in the cup are straight up and down. It gives better lift and support from the bottom of the cup, whereas before it would kind of just pull you down to the sides.

    Didn't fit

    Measurements for 28FF:

    Stretched Band - 27"
    Band Length - 22.5"
    Cup Width - 6"
    Cup Depth - 9"
    Wire Length - 9.25"
    Cup Seperation - 1.25"
    Strap Width - 0.625"
    Hooks - 2

If this were a full banded style it would fit better. Because of that the center gore shifts durring the day even though the band and cups fit. The wires get more ponted towards each other (if that makes sense). So an alteration is in order. I guess it just fans out too much for me. As a result this causes the tops of the cups to press into breast tissue (see photo os left side shot) making it appear there is quad-boob, ... but I know I'd be swimming in a larger cup size. A narrower center gore that is also taller will put the cups closer together at the bottom, giving more room in the tops of the cups and also a rounder look from the side. Similar to what a dart in the center gore would do...except there is no fabric on this bra to accomplish that. I hope to attempt to make this a full band style to fit my frame better, but if that's not possible then I will only be adding a taller, narrower center gore.

    PROS:
Fabric is soft against the skin (for the most part. See cons below).
Smooth look, even with the top cup detailing. Under regular fitting shirts show through is not a problem.
Cute design. It's nice to see more t-shirt style options from European companies. They're finally getting with the times! =)
Narrower, smoother elastic. For me this is more comfortable as I find at times most styles from other brands like Freya irritate my skin. But this one will be better in the Summer for tanktops.

    CONS:
Partial banded style, not as supportive as a full band. The underwires can be uncomfortable at times because they press on my ribs. This is only something that happens to me in this style of band, no matter what the size.
No side wings so if you have even the slightest bit of back fat the elastics will emphasize this because they (and the main fabric) are completely stretchy.
The only part of fabric on this that is uncomfortable is around the underarm. I've also read this in other reviews on shopping sites that it is bothersome. Hopefully that will go away from wash and wear. I think it has something to due with the type of elastic.
    Center gore is super tiny!

I see why this bra is hyped up. I passed over this bra initially. The padded bright teal blue bra with polka dots and a bright orange trim seemed youthful compared to my usual black attire/lingerie choices. I now care about fit more than look and I am happy I considered this bra. I havnt been going for padded bras anymore, but this isnt too thick and doesnt have the bulky push up like my old VS bras do. I like the construction, there are two vertical seams connecting 3 sections. The gore may be about what I tolerate for height due to my inner fullness, but I ... think having closer/overlapping wires would bean improvement. The gore/wires are not cutting into my tissue really or pushing into my sternum painfully. After wearing for an hour or two, I notice half of the wire/gore looks like its lifting up a little on one side and not tacking perfectly, but I think it has to do with my bigger breast. I wish the straps were closer together but they tend to be spaced far apart in balconnets. I can wear this but the straps almost feel like they could slide off my shoulders and feel like they would be more comfortable moved in. The 28 band fits better than the 30 band Cleo Juna bra I just bought (and lost on an overnight trip.] I want to try some Polish Comexim bras, or maybe Ewa bras with the straps moved in. This bra is decent and I think I can wear it today, but it is not perfect for me. I am ok the hunt for a bra that works for me.

I am short and petite, narrow shoulders, projected, I think around a UK28G, I believe my roots are somewhat narrow, and due to asymmetry I think each breast has different roots. I use to be even with more top fullness and a larger cup and band size but I lost weight and now have more soft loose tissue on top that swells at certain times of the month or when I gain weight, otherwise I think I am even but functionally FOB with a lot of inner fullness when supported. My breasts seem to almost point slightly east west unsupported but once I support them they seem very close set. I use to wear VS push up plunges 36DD or 34DDD but I realized what a bad fit that was and I am on the hunt to find what works. It has been hard with fluctuating weight. I could try to augment the wires and straps on this but because the cups feel a little small I don't think I will and may eventually rehome this. Thanks!

EDIT: My shoulders ache, not sure if that is related after wearing a couple hours. This bra came used but is a 28 and doesnt seem too stretched, so I am not sure if the thin widely spaced straps are putting pressure in weird places, my back is already messed up though.

I love the look of this bra and the cup structure but I had the same issues with the straps. Like, they were in my armpits lol.
You may want to try a Comexim half cup with straps moved in. Their gores are the narrowest I’ve experienced (I’m also centre full when supported and very close set)

    • The cups seem too shallow... you have some pretty evident quad boob action going on. Did your shoulders stop aching after a while of wearing it?

    • billi09 When I had reviewed this bra shy of a year ago, I had marked it as not fitting due to "quad boob" and strap placement :)

margesimpson I know your comment was from many months ago, but just want to say you were sooooo right about Comexim 3HCs, im just trying to regauge my Comexim Size in that style since losing more weight. :)

Since my 28FF Marcie gave quad boobs but the Envy was fine, I concluded that 28FF is my size, but I need the stretch lace for my top fullness. So, I ordered this bra which is supposed to fit my projected, fuller on top & centre boobs, with tall and narrow roots, close-set and soft tissue.

I'm not sure what's happening here - are the cups too big or the wrong shape...? I'm having lots of wrinkles on the mesh portion of the cups. Despite this, I feel supported and my boobs look good. The cups are deep and narrow, and the stretch lace definitely accommodates my top fullness. The band is snug and nice.

I think it looks pretty good! Maybe you could size down but I don’t think I would if it’s comfortable for you. Wrinkles like that aren’t necessarily a problem.

    • 1

Looks great to me but I think it’s wrinkled because of the material being thin and silky. You might try a size down as this one is known for being a little bit big.

    • 2

If the wrinkles do not show through clothing and you feel supported, I do not think they are a big deal. I had some similar wrinkles in Hettie, in a couple of sizes, despite KNOWING one size fit/was a smidge too small. I think sometimes fabric just wrinkles a bit, and it is not necessarily a fit "issue". Certainly in this case, it does not look like they are a result of a *functional problem* that would affect support or comfort, and they are minor enough that I would not expect them to be an aesthetic problem (showing through a shirt). It looks like it fits well enough that I am not sure another size would work better.

    • I'm glad to know the wrinkles aren't a big issue! Pretty sure a cup size down will be too small as I had spillage in the 28F Jasmine which is supposed to have even more room at the apex and top than the Hettie.

The colors are weird: It's a pink and brown animal print on a beige background. The beige looks a lot brighter on the pictures but it doesn’t look too bad in person. The cups them self are not too visible under a bright shirt but you do notice the black seams and straps.

The fit is OK. The cups feel somewhat large one me but I am sure the black trim on top would be cutting in if they were any smaller. It probably works better for a full on bottom shape. Unlike most other Cleos this does not make my breasts super round. It is more of a ... natural very projected shape. In fact it only lifts my boobs a little without really changing their shape. The fabric is thin and the seams don't align with my nipples so they can easily poke though.

The band is very loose and stretchy. It feels like a loose 30 (like Freya) or a snug 32. It is still OK on my 73.5cm ribcage but not very supportive. I mostly wear this one at home or when I just don't feel like wearing one of my tigher bras. The straps are also long and stretchy. I am tempted to shorten them even more but that just makes the band ride up. The wires are firm and a little too wide on me but they don't poke my anywhere.

Quality is also good. I have it for almost 6 month now and it didn't stretch much and still looks like new. I also like that the wire channels are exactly the right length. On some of my other bras I have over 1 cm of empty wire channel at the sides which looks a bit strange.

Overall it's a really nice and comfy bra but if you have a smaller ribcage then I you should go down at least one band size in order to get any support.

    • Interesting print and colours. I’ve never been one for animal prints, although I am considering the CK Madagascar in pixie, and that’s a zebra print. I don’t think it’s quite the same. It’s actually quite complimentary to your skin tone though, I think. As for the band....see, I think that it’s fine. Doesn’t look stretchy or like it’s riding up to me.

    • 2

Yeah in your shot of the back the band looks like it’s barely holding together & could snap. There’s nothing too big about this bra. It’s a better cup volume than a 28F. If you need to feel super compressed, i like Wendy’s suggestion of long lines on your Ellace review 👍🏻

    • lcl0706
Believe this thing is stretchy. I can easily fit both hands under the band. Maybe the hooks are a manufacturing error. My Freya Enchanted (http://bra.pe/XYMZ/) fits much tighter and the hooks look perfectly normal. I also have quite a bit of back fat so most bras look tight on me.

    • I hate that hands under the band thing. My one requirement for a band is it to stay in place. So what if I can fit my hand or both hands or 5 fingers sideways under it... if I’m not pulling it back down all day I’m good!

    • @lcl0706
Yes, it's a very inaccurate test. I also never understood why you are supposed to be able to get two fingers under the band. I can do that even if a bra is way too small. But I did this experiment some time ago:

      https://www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/comments/7kyfiu/fun_i_calculated_how_much_support_my_bras_give/

And the this one actually turned out to be a full size looser.

      @Calluna
I'm not too much into animal prints as well. But my boyfriend loves it for some reason. Maybe he will buy me the Madgascar if I show him the pictures. I already got my Cleo Marcie this way ;-)

    • aboobaccount lol! Men can be so manipulated when it comes to our bodies (or theirs) though, in my case, my husband prefers me with no bra....though he's happier I'm switching to more soft cup bras as he's not really a fan of the boob armour type lined/mounded bras I have been wearing for a while. I'm getting the CK Bardot that lcl0706 has listed and it's sheer....so maybe he'll like it? I think that it's sexy as all get out. ;)

    • Also, I went to the abtf page and was totally lost when I looked at the information and results. 🤔

    • @Calluna
My BF also favors no bra over everything else. But he does like my unlined 28Fs a lot more then my old, mostly padded 34Ds. I wouldn't say that I am manipulating him. I am just inspiring him to invest some of the money he saves on his underwear (he spends like 10€ per year) into mine ;-)

As for the big excel sheet:
I tried to figure out how much support a bra could theoretically give based on the force exerted by the band as opposed to how far the bra stretches (which is what bratabase records). But it turned out that you have to take the whole structure into account. I just used the link to point out that this particular bra fits nearly twice as loose (less force) compared to my others.

The Cleo Blake I received runs bigger than the bra it's based on, the Cleo Marcie. I've been a very consistent 28FF cup in Marcie and her clones, so this is something of a surprise. The measurements seem about the same, perhaps it's the cup height or maybe the fabric has more stretch? FWIW, I have short, narrow roots and inner fullness.

The bra itself is a blue toned pink/red. The cup is made from 2 layers of knit fabric, with a "pebbled" effect on the outer layer, and a smooth inner layer. Unlike Marcie, the upper part of the cup is made from the same fabric as the lower cup, which may be less "in-cup-quad" prone than the lace on most Marcie Clones. The top of the cup is sewn to a piece of pinkish beige elastic, which means that the top of the cup has a smidgen of stretch. YMMV if very FOT or tall rooted.

The band also seems biggish for Cleo.

I haven't yet decided whether I'll return or exchange it for a 28F.

I was extremely curious how the Blake would fit and I'm glad to see your review! So overall it seems like the Blake is like a slightly larger Marcie in the cup and band? Good to know!

    • Thank you for your review! :D I was hoping I could get away with the Blake as it's a three-part molded bra but if it runs big in the band...probably not since I'm a sub 28er. I wish Cleo offered it in a longline style too, since the bands usually run tighter on those. It'd be cute too in that look.

    • 2

kerniss Thinking it over, I think that because the cup has more stretch than Marcie, it may allow more projection at the lower gore, where (in the fabric clones at least) I get OIGish wrinkling. Maybe I can just use more of the cup? wendybien would know.

Anyway, I've decided to return it for a 28F! For Science!! (On the VERY positive side, if the 28F cups fit, the overall smaller scale of the wires, etc, would be great for me.)

@littleology The Blake is not molded, it is a soft knit fabric. The band isn't huge, just biggish for Cleo. Part of the may have been that I didn't fill the cups.

The only longline I tried was a Freya Totally Tartan, the cups were too small and my back HATED it.

    • Hi acee thanks for your review! Like the others, I too have been hoping someone would talk about the Blake. It's so cute! My shape is sort of full all over, but more-so at the center and bottom. I get wrinking in Lily, and she doesn't stay in my IMF. Do you think Blake is more likely to work for me?

    • Also, any comments on the quality compared to the mesh Cleos?

    • 1

janearmena I have a 28FF Parrot Lily which fits with wrinkling (OIG?) at 5 and 7 o'clock at the gore and minor quad at 1 o'clock on my larger breast, though it does stay in my IMF. My ideal wires would be 4.5-4.75, so I have a lot of unused space at the side of the cup. I'm full everywhere else, though.

I'd guess that due to the stretch, it will be more forgiving of projection, but I can't say for sure as it's too big for me. The only other 28FF Cleo I've experienced that with was a Swan Lily that I think was mislabelled (it reappeared with the vendor several times after I returned it.)

Regarding quality, the mesh is a softer, more open "cottonlike" fabric than any other Cleo I've seen. I'd guess it could snag. The finish along the interior of the cup edge doesn't look great, but may make that edge more forgiving. I've uploaded some detail pictures.

    • Wow, thanks! It's very different for Cleo. Seems like it would be nice for summer. Maybe I'll give it a go when it's on sale :-) Thanks!

    28FF

    Didn't fit

Update - Sold this bad boy, decided it was just too dang small & shallow for me.

I agonized over this bra, and what size to order (because my 28FF Cleo Juna does not fit), and I really wanted the black & pink but really needed a nude T shirt bra too. Turns out the nude color is almost an exact match to my skin tone, and the lace detail is cute. I'm not a huge fan of plain beige bras, and this solves my T shirt bra hunt. After picking apart every measurement possible, I decided my Juna was more of a shape mismatch instead ... of a cup size problem and went with the same size. Definitely glad I did, because a 28G would have been too big.

Material: I find it kinda scratchy, but I have sensitive skin, so YMMV. It's not unbearable though. Hopefully a couple washings will soften it.

Wires: I know this is a hard bra to fit into for most. For me, the wires are the perfect width, and confirm my very strong suspicion that I need wide wires. They stop on my sides exactly where my breast tissue ends, and enclose everything in the middle.

The band: - at first glance, I thought "holy short band batman!!" But I can fasten it on the loosest hooks, and it feels like it will stretch over time.

The straps: VERY short. I have to leave them as loose as they go. I consider my boobs to be fairly low-set on my chest, so keep that in mind if you give this bra a shot.

The cups: I don't fill out the bottom, although it's close. There is slight gapping at the top when I reach forward, but I think that is standard with molded cups like these. There is zero spillage in the middle - again confirming I need wide wires. The *only* nitpick I noticed is I have *very minor* quadding on the inside edges of the cups. I added about 1/4" of length to the band with an extender, and it solves that problem and also allows me to shorten the straps a little bit. So, even though I can fasten the band on the loosest hook (maybe even the middle hook) and it's not particularly uncomfortale, I believe I will use the tightest hook on an extender until the band stretches enough to correct this on its own.

Wow, that's great news! It's good to hear about the times Cleo Jude worked well for someone. That is valuable info!

    • Thanks! I was pretty excited to find success with something. After I read enough reviews stating it was way too wide, I had a feeling it might work for me haha! I thought it was important to write a good detailed review - it felt like this bra got a bad rep because it's a difficult shape. I'm one who tends to shy away from products that don't have good reviews but I told myself that doesn't mean much in the Land of Bras, everyone is different, it's not like I'm buying a microwave.

    • I love this bra a little more each time I wear it. I put it on today, and put a very thin white cami on over it, to wear under my sweatshirt. I realized this bra is so close to my own skin tone that if it weren't for the pink lace trim, you wouldn't be able to see it at all - and that's saying a lot for the thinnest white shirt I own. The tags had to go, though. Usually I don't have a problem with tags on a bra band, they're pretty soft. These drove me bananas. Something to think about if you have super sensitive skin, although it's nothing a pair of scissors can't fix.

    • I follow your blog with great interest, Staaldrigstill. The front and 3/4 view shots are very helpful. I would love to see side shots, too. The view from the side, turned 90 degrees away from the camera, often reveals shape problems not visible in front or 3/4 views. That's the view that helps me decide on a bra the most.

    • learningaboutbras I'm so happy to hear from a reader! I don't have many of those shoes because i have to be in a very awkward position to take them, but I'll definately try to snap some for upcoming posts. Thanks a lot for the advice, I very much appreciate it. Is there anything else you'd like to see on the blog?

    • I understand it's hard to take 90-degree angle shots. There are tools to set up your phone and use a remote control to get difficult shots, but those cost money.

If you get matching panties, I'd like to see front and back views, even if you're not wearing them. Maybe measurements would help, too.

It's hard to find pictures of the back. Figleaves and Nordstrom are pretty good about showing the back, but even they sometimes don't get a good shot. I have wasted a lot of money shipping back panties that were too low cut or too roomy or not flattering in the back. Now I know never to buy Cleo panties. Most Ewa Michalak panties I can't wear. I'm still learning which other ones work.

Oh, it was really funny when you wore that pushup bra and you said your classmate didn't learn a lot about ancient Roman architecture that day! LOL!!!

    • Acctually my phone doesn't have a camera haha. I have one of those old things with buttons and I've had it for five (soon six) years, it's bathed three times and I've dropped it contlessly. I always thought why should I replace it if it ain't broke, but it just never brakes! (I'm also terrified that this day will come because these new phones cost a fortune!). Sorry for the off topic. I'll try my best to get some side shots, and if all else fails I'll ask my SO to take them for me :)

I never thought of that knicker aspect. I have some sets coming up, but have only photographed the back if they were extra pretty, but now I'll have a reason to do it otherwise, thank you!

Haha, I felt a bit bad for the boy. I've never really considered the fact that other people would be affected by what I wear. Maybe school uniforms could serve a purpose after all?

    • I think this bra looks good on you. I can't see anything that looks too big. I only see it looking a little small in the cups. You could wear a 28G in this bra, because I see it cutting in on top of your cups, but I don't see any gaping at all.

    • Did you like the 28FF pink version of the Marcie?

    • Nayanya It's mostly prominent when I move. The pink fit me much better.
