I bought it completely blinded by its beauty and a good deal I found, the size is completely wrong for me. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />
I would say that band is very stretchy. I normally wear 32 or 34 but this feels bigger than 34. But on other Curvy Kate bras I tired (Thrill ME/Tease Me) I found the band very stretchy as well.
Cups are way too big for me, so I can't review them, but I like this model, I guess if I got a right size it would look very good. It's a deep cut plunge with very narrow, low gore and I think ...it should show a lot of cleavage. The cups are pretty shallow, but it seems to be a part of this model.
The look of this bra is stunning, I love such styles. The fabric looks very good, it's satin but not very shiny and it'd in great condition even though it's a used item. It has very beautiful details - the lace is very unique for lingerie, a large pattern made of thick threads and there is an ornamental knot on the gore. Overall, the whole bra looks really pretty.
I really want to get this model in the right size, but their regular price is out of my range. If you have such bra in size 32F or 30FF and you want to sell it or exchange for a different bra, please contact me.
EDIT: Please don't vote this review down just because I tried the wrong size. On bratabase, we are supposed to add reviews of bras that didn't fit us, too. Read more 162 more words

You don't happen to still have this do you? I was curious about the height of the center gore in this size.
No, I sold it. But the gore was very low.
BTW I recently bought this bra in 32FF and it's gorgeous! Looks even better than I imagined. It pushes breasts up and to the centre and has a very big plunging cleavage - that's why the gore is somewhat wider than in other bras. It's actually an illusion, because the gore in this bra is extremely low so it doesn't even go in between the breasts. Slightly flatten breasts, as I expected, but the uplift is great and I think it has a little of minimising effect, anyway I think I look much slimmer in this bra. :) I will add review of 32FF later.
I'm so glad to have found a size that fits in this range. I measure 33" and went for the 30 band, as I've tried the 32" and it was too big. The 30 fits, but it's tight. I might wear with an extender the first few times. The cups suit my breast shape really well. They get lifted from bottom to top, and the cup gives a very round shape. There's no cutting in at the top, except for maybe 1 mm on my larger boob, though this is covered behind a lace. The lace can be seen through tight clothes, but it really doesn't bother me, ...as I mostly wear two layers or something a little less tight (no need to put my big belly on display!). The breasts also stay in place in the cups when I bend over, even if I jump a bit while bend I over. The cup doesn't feel too tight though, and it's very open at the top, so I don't know if it's my breast shape or the cup that can take credit for them staying in place. I haven't yet worn in around for a whole day, but so far I haven't experience discomfort.
Bratabase suggested the 30H for me, and it was a fit. The 32HH (i heard you had to go up in the cupsize, and since a 32GG is a bit tight overall, i went with 32HH) I had first tried was a lot too big. I'm normally a large 32GG. I would say that if you're full on top and need shallow cups and a snug band, go down one sister size from your normal size (down in the band, 1 up in the cup)
Edit 1/1 2013 - I haven't really worn this bra much since I started the pill and I made my boobs swell up at least a cup. I've stopped takin the pill for this reason, and I really don't want larger breasts, and because I had just bought 6 bras that fit. I haven't tried on this bra since the "pill swelling" went down, but I'll try it again soon and update the review. I've had it for 4 months now. I've worn it with an extender, but experienced back pain. It was better without an extender.
Edit no. 2, jan. 22nd 2013 - the "swelling" from being on the pill has gone down! Luckily! I've lost around 10 lbs since I purchased the bra and 2" off my underbust and maybe an inch off my chest. This bra fits nicely on the 2nd hook now. I do thinks it cuts in too much at the bottom elastic of the band. I've tried closing the bottom hook on the loosest setting and that works better. It's great for walking, then I don't really feel it. If I'm at home or sit around a lot, the band annoys me some. Though I've lost some weight off my chest, the cups are actually too small. I think breast tissue has migrated back into my breasts, and made them more "full". I think 1 cup up might be too big. I'm hoping to lose 40 lbs more actually, so this bra might work for me for a while during the weightloss. I can wear it now though, but after scooping it does bulge more than when I first got it. I look forward to losing some more weight and hopefully having it fit. Read more 471 more words
This bra is absolutely lovely, but I wish it was comfortable! The front of my armpits were so sore after wearing it for a few hours! The underwire was also too wide for my breasts. The look of the bra is beautiful, but unfortunately, I would not wear it under most clothing as the material appears bumpy and uneven from the lace. All in all, good bra to wear if you know you'll be taking it off immediately..which I guess isn't a good bra to wear at all!
I really want to love this bra. The detailing on it is so beautiful, and despite the wrinkle in the cup, it give a nice appearance under shirts. The band is very firm and feels quite supportive.
The underwires are not friendly to my sternum, and stab in at the gore. An hour of wearing this bra yesterday left my sternum red, irritated and feeling bruised even still today. I do really like that the underwires encapsulates all of my breast tissue, rather than stopping short at the armpit like Freyas do.
The cup wrinkles just slightly at the top, at the sheer panel between the lace and the bottom part of the cup. If I fold that section into the cup, so that the lace meets the solid part of the cup, the fit is perfect. So I would say this cup is just a tiny bit too big. I wonder if bending the underwires would help the fit at the sternum?
Got this bra through a Bratabase listing in my continuing quest for the ideal bra shape for my breasts.
Bra description:
A pretty, sumptuous-looking bra made of deep magenta (I think it's called 'wine'?) 'satin' with a black lace overlay. The cups are edged with more black lace that has a satin ribbon in the same deep magenta colour threaded through. Three double bows -- each consisting of a large black one with a fine magenta one on top -- adorn the centre gore and places where the cups connect to the straps. The wings are made of fairly stretchy black mesh. The straps are surprisingly plain for such an ...intricate-looking bra. Also, the plain metal-coloured connectors and sliders in my opinion don't really seem to fit the bra's overall style.
The cups are shaped by two vertical seams. They are padded (a bit too thickly for my taste) and lined with the same or very similar deep magenta 'satin' that sits underneath the black lace on the outside of the cups (it actually looks more like a fine and shiny, jersey-type knit, so technically it isn't a satin). This lining certainly is pretty and smooth and LOOKS luxurious, but for me it is way too synthetic to be comfortable. I prefer my bras lined with something more coton-y. Since I purchased this bra off the Bratabase listing I've stumbled upon a bunch of other Curvy Kate bras in a local department store (of course they don't stock 28 bands there ... ) and I've noticed I really dislike the feel of the fabrics used on most of them. This may, of course, just be a personal quirk, as I don't think I've seen anybody else mention it.
Bra fit:
Now, I'm a bit baffled by the way this bra fits -- or rather NOT fits. As my larger breast is nearly falling out of the cup and bulging unattractively (though not quite quadboobing ... ), the simplest conclusion would be that this bra is too small, but I don't think a bigger cup size would fit me any better as my smaller left breast also has issues. The shape the cups give me is weird and angular on both my smaller and my larger breasts and for some reason my naturally outward facing breasts want to spill towards the centre, something they don't even really do in a serious plunge bra. The bra seem to want to shape my breasts into 'vertical ovals' -- 0 -- which doesn't really work very well. The lace sticks out oddly -- the thick padding prevents it from sitting flush with my skin -- and even though the wires don't seem to be sitting on breast tissue and come up high enough at the sides to keep everything in, I think they are still a bit too narrow: they really are incredibly painful at the sides.
The band feels too loose for me and is VERY stretchy, easily the stretchiest 28 band I've encountered so far. Part of it may be due to the fact this bra isn't brand new, although it's otherwise in excellent condition and looks practically unworn. As it is, I would have to wear it at the tightest hook -- it works sort of, but still isn't ideal.
Conclusion:
This bra definitely isn't for me. The shape just doesn't work for me AT ALL, and even though the design and colour scheme are gorgeous, the materials (lining and padding) are not my cup of tea. After having tried some unpadded Curvy Kates as well I think I can safely though somewhat sadly conclude I'm just not a Curvy Kate girl. I'm going to list this bra and hope it will find a better home with someone whom it actually suits ... Read more 518 more words
*This review is for the blue/ivory version of this bra* The cut of this bra are actually quite similar to a 32DD I have in another brand, though this one has slightly deeper cups. The 32DD seems to be better scaled to a petite frame in general though. This “tease me” was a complete tease, as the fit is not so great on me: PROS: *It has three hooks, which is very comfortable.. *The straps are fully adjustable. This is great for petite/high set ladies, such as myself. *The construction of the cups with the shallow bottom creates great uplift for the oft-described “cakes on a plate” cleavage. *It’s just cute. ... CONS: *The band is huge. I’ve read that this band runs large, so it was not entirely surprising, but I was won over by the bra’s cuteness and all cares of actual band fit were temporarily forgotten. When I put it on I went straight for the tightest hook and still didn’t feel I was getting much support. A smaller band size would be great, if such were an option. It’s not just that it’s a little bigger, it’s bigger because it’s pretty stretchy, so I think the stretchiness in addition to it being large makes it feel less secure. I’ve had 32 bands that technically measure larger but feel more firm and secure. This is definitely something to remember, especially if you are a sub-28 band size. *The straps at the front are way too far apart. They cut in at my armpit crease, leading to very minimal support/uplift. This looks like a common complaint, and I’m guessing perhaps since the band seems to run so large the whole thing is scaled for people a little bigger around. I think the fit and look of most of my bras would be improved if I could move the straps closer together, though, so this might just be me. *The center gore on this is fairly high on me. Even though the wires are really pretty close together, they are still sitting on breast tissue. I don’t believe this is an issue of the cups being too small though, as I have a small amount of extra space on the outer sides. If I could move the cups to about one wire-width apart it would be better. I generally think plunge bras would probably work best for me most of the time, so again this might just be me. *The shallow cup bottoms definitely pick me up, but I actually don’t get the “cakes on a plate cleavage” unless I move the front straps forward. The straps are far enough out that, when paired with the huge back band, I’m not getting much, if any, uplift. I tried folding and pinning the straps in the front about an inch inward, and this seemed to help the fit tremendously. (I had a similar problem with the Freya Deco strapless when I attempt to use the widest adjustable strap setting, and it’s corrected by using the closer one.) When I do this I definitely get the amazing pushed up effect, but I also get a flattened stripe across my nipple line, creating a weird square profile. I again don’t think this is an issue of the cups being too small; I think I would drown in a larger size. Overall, I think trying different sizes in a smaller band size (if they existed) would be more useful and look much better once I found the cup size I need from that. This size as it is now does not work very well for me. This bra is really cute (especially for the price – on sale at brastop), and I think rather than mess around with returning it (international shipping for me), I’ll see if I can tailor it a bit to make it workable.
Thanks for posting such a detailed and thoughtful review. I love the look of this bra, it looks so cute but, I think i would have the same issue with the gore and think it would be too shallow, as other Curvy Kate bras have been.
This was a suprise hit for me. I ordered this on the basis of a recommendation here on Bratabase. I was very skeptical that this would work for me as I tend to not get on well with plunges and totally expected I would end up sending it back.
When I first tried it on I felt quite exposed and wondered if I should have ordered the next cupsize up - I did already go up a cup more than I would normally wear as I the general consensus seemed to be that this runs small in the cup. However I've twisted, turned and contorted and cannot see any ...spillover anywhere outside the cup even in extreme positions so I think the problem is just that I am not used to wearing a bra that is so open in the center of my chest - I tend to stick with balconettes that come up higher in the middle. I actually prefer the wires sitting lower at the center gore as the ones that come up a little higher always poke my breast on the larger side (I have very little space between them). While this is usually not painful I would prefer for it not to happen.
I'm not really big on the cleavage look but this gives a nice amount of cleavage without looking obscene. The band on this feels a bit tighter than the thrill me I already own (which I had to fasten on the tightest hook from day one) so I expect it should wear better long term. The icing on the cake is that this bra is *really* comfy. I can see this becoming a favourite and will probably occupy space in my underwear drawer for a long time to come. Definitely a keeper!
ETA: Having now worn the bra for a whole day I am now seeing that crease in the base of the cup that others have mentioned, however it is only happening on one side (the bigger one). So I think this is probably what others have suggested, orange in a glass caused by the cup being too shallow in the bottom. My boobs are relatively firm so the fact that this isn't happening on the smaller side seems to confirm the orange in a glass theory. It's still a keeper - the crease wasn't visible under my work uniform and this bra is way too comfy to give up. Read more 298 more words
Finally a Curvy Kate I can wear. I do not get along with their unpadded bras. I've tried almost every style on and the shape just doesn't work for me. For reference I can wear 34HH in the unpadded styles. This bra is very comfortable and gives a nice round profile. It also pushes the boobs up. I would say the sizing is pretty accurate. I am very full on top and the 34H fits well which tends to be my size in other brands these days. I would not want a bigger cup (they don't make it anyway) because it would probably gape. The cups are very ...open on top which is probably why it can accommodate a full on top bust. I would say it is less of a plunge and more of a lower balconette. I had a Deco when I was a FF and I always had the problem of spilling out in the middle. Not with this bra. I know the cup depth measurement doesn't seem that deep for an H, but if you are an H cup I suggest you try it. Something about the cut of this bra just fits and I don't get quad boob. Looks great under clothes. That is when I was really sold on it. Read more 108 more words
Hi there, I was wondering if you found the band of the Smoothie to be firm enough, given that it has so much stretch in it. I'm debating between the 32 and 34 band and was just wondering what your experience has been, since I think that our underbust measurements are pretty close - I fluctuate between a 33.5 and a 34.3ish depending on the time of the month. Thanks!
I would say go with the 32. My underbust is currently 33in and I can wear this bra on the tightest hook very comfortably. If I were to buy this bra again I would get a 32HH.
Thanks so much, that is very helpful! The measurements looked that way as well, but it's nice to have you confirm. :)
I tried this on in a shop so don't have measurements or photos, but think it actually fitted. Went up one cup size from usual 28ff, and at first though 28g was still a bit small, but I think it is just because I am not used to this much cleavage, but i wasn't really falling out of it and wasn't quad boob, just quite a low cut bra. Inspite of being very low and creating lots of cleavage it still felt really comfy and supportive. However, having finally found something that fits, the style is just so not me! I am quite a conservative person, so just don't think red and leopard print plunge is really something i could wear! Was very compfy bra though, and for others wanting something sexy but still supportive and stylish (not completely trashy!) I would recommend it.
This was my first foray into Curvy Kate bras and I want to run back to my beloved Freya!
First, the good. The Daily Boost is a very sturdily made bra; it's hard to describe, but it has the feel of a bra that would last a long time. There's nothing flimsy about it. The 28 band runs about average with other 28s I've worn, neither exceptionally firm, nor loose.
It's a very 'practical' looking bra. Black with gray piping and a little gray bow at the center gore. Even the bow is 'practical' looking, as if the bra really needed to scream, "I'm not for decoration or sexiness!" ...It's could've been cuter. A little cute never hurt anyone.
The seams show just a tiny bit under my t-shirts and probably would fully show in anything very tight. It is not quite a t-shirt bra.
Now, all that said, I'm pretty sure this bra is the complete wrong shape for me. The cups are shallow and somewhat wide. While they don't cut in, or give me quadra-boob, I am forever adjustiing and re-adjusting as my narrow, close-set boobs refuse to work with the cup shape given. Oftentimes, there's is empty space at the apex of the cups, other times it's more towards the center. I wonder if a 28FF might have been better, but the shape seems so wrong, I doubt it.
I think I'll just be buying the Tease Me from Curvy Kate and leaving the rest of their line alone. Read more 141 more words
Love! I've been admiring the Showgirl range for some time now so when Brastop had a sale on recently I had to take the plunge. I got this in the Azure/Plum colour and it's beautiful. The bra gives a lot of lift and has an almost corset like effect.
As per the advice I'd read here and on other blogs I sized down in the band and up in the cup, I'm glad I did as a 30 band would have been too loose and I do have some reservations as to how well this bra will wear for me. Even the 28 band seems much looser than I am used to in the 30 bands and I suspect I may not get as much use out of this bra as I do with others when it starts to stretch with wash & wear. How things go with this issue will probably be the deciding factor as to whether I buy anything else from this range. But for now I'm in love https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
Like I said in my review for the 28E this is a beautiful bra, it's well made and definitely reminds you of a Vegas Showgirl. I received this in a bra grab bag special otherwise I probably would've ordered two sizes up on this particular bra. I have slightly more areola coverage but it's close. I could probably "make due" wearing this since the underwire doesn't hurt but I still have quite a bit of lift on the front gore.
I have this bra as a pregnancy bra. It does not fit, it is a touch small in the cup, the gore is lifting. This is due to the fact that the cups are more shallow then a regular Curvy Kate bra. The strap placement on this is better but still a bit wide. The width of the wire is a touch wide, but much more wearable.. It is wearable right now because it is so open in the top of the cup. It will not require alterations to the strap and underarm area like a regular CK bra does for me.
I have firm, close set boobs and the cleavage this bra gives me is awesome! Ever since I outgrew the Deco range, I've been craving a bra to give me cleavage and this one does it! It isn't a perfect fit- the cups cut in JUST slightly, but it's not noticeable in clothing at all. I'd read that the band was very stretchy, but I found it to be smaller than Freya's 28 bands, although probably a little looser than Curvy Kate's other 28's.
Looks wise, this bra is GORGEOUS and now I want to buy the gold set! The colors are just fabulous and I love how ...much detail is in this bra. Also, praise the lord, it's PADDED! Since moving up the cups to more HH and J's, I'd begun to give up on finding padded and molded bras, but this one just tickles me pink!
My one warning is that if you don't do well with plunges, this might not be for you. It is a fine bra for me, with firm breasts, for day to day wear, but someone with softer boobs would definitely experience some spillage.
If you choose to get the shorts/thong, I found that it ran tight even for Curvy Kate. I took a 10 in the Emily briefs, but the 14 in this thong was quite tight- I really need a 16 in these. Read more 122 more words
First off, gorgeous bra. Soft smooth fabric, great colors, just beautiful out of the box.
The number one thing that I love about this bra is the wires. Most wires are just a general formed U shape. These actually have some curve to the shape so the move around the ribs instead of cause some pain during break in. Number 2 positive is the lower center gore. It is only about 3 inches high, where my Freya and Panache balcony bras are 4 inches high. Much lower in the front and I love the shape. Now one negative of the silky fabric ...is the fact that it causes the straps to slide off my shoulders easier.
I do need a smaller band, but it is no worse then the two Freya bras I have added. The band is also very stretchy. I'm not sure if I need a larger cup as the center gore is slightly lifted or if it is just because my breasts are too close for the width of the gore.
Overall gorgeous bra, definitely a keeper even if the fit is not quite perfect.
For azure/plum: Absolutely the wrong size. I'll need to go up a cup size and maybe down a band size, so I might be ordering another size soon. I'm sad because it looks lovely and the bands are super stretchy and comfortable. I thought I could manage to shove my boobs in it, but alas. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />
Update: For my review of the size that fit me, see the 28H.
This bra fits really well. I put it on and it was an immediate plus. My family was shocked at how well it fits and looks on me. The material is really soft and I can't complain about anything except the bows that were on the straps. they were in the way of wearing a couple shirts, so I did cut them off. But other than that, it feels great. The bra feels comfortable around my ribcage, it's not too tight, but it's definitely not loose. I think I like this much more than the tight band on my 30J. The straps sit comfortably on my shoulders, and don't dig in too much. My breasts are fully encased within the cups and feel completely supported. I love it already and I've only worn it a couple hours.
In summary it is a lovely bra but sadly it was not a good fit for me in band or cup in the sizes I tried. I am hoping to try other sizes though as I think my correct fit is still out there somewhere!
It's a very pretty style with polka dot cups (the dots have a velvety feel to them which is very tactile) and the lower half of the cups is double lined for extra support.
The cups were too wide for me - my preference is definitely for a narrower but deeper cup.
The central gore laid flat on me and the underwires did not poke at all.
Overall a very comfortable bra despite being the wrong size.
