This bra is absolutely gorgeous! I have it in lavender, and it is about the prettiest colored bra I own. The fabric is thin and fairly soft (not cottony soft, but soft for a lace bra). The lace detailing is very fine, and not very scratchy (unlike the Curvy Kate Princess, which can be a little abrasive to sensitive skin). The lace around the top of the cup and the underwire is incredibly feminine.
I wish this bra fit me, but unfortunately the cup size is too small. I know that the Emily runs a bit large, and I think that is definitely true-- I am a 28FF in ...most bras, and this bra is a 28F. It almost fits, however like many of us, one of my ladies is a bit larger than the other, and in this bra that is too much of an issue. Because the cup size was a bit too small, the gore didn't sit flat against my chest and there was a great deal of quad-boob for that boob, and a very small amount of quad boob for her smaller sister. I expect, however, that in the proper size the gore would rest flat on my sternum.
I like the shape the bra creates, ignoring the quad-boob for a moment-- the style is a bit plunge-y to me, and it creates a bit of cleavage. Not a lot, but just a nice little teardrop mound. Again, in the proper size, I think I would like the natural shape it creates.
The band is reasonable, though I wish it was a little firmer. The Curvy Kate Princess I have is quite a bit firmer than this one--the fabric seems slightly more elastic-y by comparison. I think it's a good fit for a 28, but I tend to prefer slightly more firm 28 bands. It has two hooks--I wish there were three, however it looks like FF and G cups in the 28 band size DO have three hooks. I think this would make the bra a little more secure.
Overall, I like the feel and shape of this bra. I desperately wish it fit. I wore it for a few hours an evening, and because the cups were too small it definitely wasn't something I could just ignore. I have ordered this bra in a 28FF, and look forward to wearing it. Read more 287 more words
This is the best fitting bra I have owned. I like the moulded cups a lot, and the colour is great.
That said, I don't quite fill out the top of the cups, as my breasts have quite a wide root and the underwire pokes into my breast tissue on the side a bit. The lace also makes it a bit difficult to wear under a t-shirt.
Update after a few months: After wearing better fitting bras, it is a bit comically small after swooping and scooping. I still don't quite fill the tops of the cups (bottom heavy here), but there is a bit of tissue escaping on the sides and if it were possible to have quad-boob while having wrinkling at the tops, that is what I would be having. This is weird. I'd consider going up to a DD, but then I'd have more gaping at the top!
I bought this used from another Bratabase user. She has altered the bra - repositioned the straps to make it more centre and shorten the band. On my 27" ribcage, the altered band fits perfectly, very firm without being too tight. The repositioned straps looks like how my other well-fitting bra looks like on my shoulders, and I have broad enough shoulder to not have any problems with the width of the straps. I guess the original would be much wider.
Onto the bra fit. I usually wear 28G bras. However, knowing that the Showgirls range comes up very small in the cup, I bumped up to this size, ...28H. The measurements given in Bratabase look like it will fit me. However, upon wearing it and after swooping and scooping, clearly the bra is still too small for my full on top boobs. I have to somehow tuck in my boobs a little to make it wearable. It seems I need a deeper cup. Masquerade Rhea in 28G fits me perfectly although the depth of that bra is less than this one (9.6" -> 10.2"). The wires also are too wide on me. For padded bras I find that 5.5" width are just nice for my boobs. This bra has a 6" width. I have empty spaces on the sides.
Fit aside, this bra is so damn comfortable. Now I know what it means when "hug the boobs" expression comes up. This is just it. Compared to Rhea, Tease Me is much more comfortable. The lace also doesn't show under my clothes, except for paper-thin tops. The shape it gives is round and very close to the body. I like that since it doesn't scream BOOBS! all over. I can use this as an everyday bra.
All in all, I will have to go up one cup size to 28HH to get a decent fit. I really don't like the really wide cups although I guess that's a given as you go up cup sizes. Read more 224 more words
This is a great bra and currently my best fitting bra. It is comfortable but still incredibly gorgeous - the photos of it online really don't do it justice in my opinion! The colours and embroidery detail are really lovely without compromising the fit and comfort of the bra. In terms of size, I wear a 28FF in the Freya Deco which might work as a good comparison for a lot of people if you are trying to work out what size to get, though the Deco does gape on me a little (however I think this is more to do with my full on bottom breasts/small ribcage/narrow ...shoulders than the actual cups being too small). The band of the Angel bra is quite stretchy, but as it is wide and has three sets of hooks I find that it stays in place well even on my small bony ribcage. The shape created by the bra is quite good. I have to be careful about what clothes I wear it under as the bows on the straps (though very cute!) do show under strappy tops and the patterns can show under fitted tops, though it's not too bad. All in all, I highly recommend this bra. It is comfortable, well made, beautiful and supportive. Oh and for sizing reference, I measure 26 inches around my ribcage and 35 inches around my bust, and my breasts are quite wide set and full on bottom. Read more 136 more words
I'll be honest with you -- I know this doesn't fit properly and I knew it wouldn't when I purchased it from another Bratabase user. I bought this bra strictly to use as a bedroom bra. My fiance isn't a big fan of how properly fitted bras look; he prefers it when I am basically spilling out of a bra that is 3 or 4 cup sizes too small (men, geez.) Since that isn't something I am realistically going to do on a daily basis, I decided I'd be nice to him and get a few ill-fitting bras to make him happy (because, I'm happy ...to say, MOST of my bras fit properly now.....mainly thanks to the users of this site!)
Other than that, this bra is quite beautiful and comfortable. If I was looking for a better fit, I would prefer a smaller band and a larger cup, but there are no other options available. There's going to be no swoop and scoop when putting on this bra -- I'll just arrange myself however I need to basically not fall out of it! lol I have ordered the matching shorts with the ruffles on the back to make a set (seriously, you really need the set because it's so pretty and sexy!) After lusting for this bra for ages...I finally got it https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":D" />
And wow! I love it!!! It's so comfortable, beautiful and *perfect*.. if not the fit.
The cups run very small.. I think the 28F is too small and I'm usually between a 28DD/E. I think I need 28FF, maybe a G.. Just maybe. It actually fits my smaller boob quite well I think, maybe a tad bit too small.
The band is pretty stretchy, but not a big problem for me. I'll probably alter it down to what I need https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
As my previous two experiences with Curvy Kate weren't successful, I was doubtful whether the Smoothie would be an improvement. The Angel and the Emily don't work at all on me, the former looks droopy (and comes too high under the arms) and the Emily was scratchy, droopy and the cups huge. But, but. Third time's the magic! The Smoothie will certainly become my new favourite (and yeah, I intend to wear it a lot https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":D" /> ), as it - gives a great, uplifted, upfront shape - think "perky" - looks quite delicate (no mean feat in J cup) - is incredibly comfortable both ...in cups and band - has a sturdy, non-stretchy band - is the kind of no-nonsense go-to bra every girl needs. I've set the fit after my bigger boob. The smaller one leaves a little empty room at the top-and-center of the cup, so it gapes a tiny bit next to the center gore.
At the moment I can't give you any cons as it's obviously a well-made bra. The only things that may cause problems to some are that - the straps are placed quite wide apart. I don't have a problem with that as I have wide shoulders. - the straps are curiously thin (not narrow!) compared to for example many Ewa Michalaks and GG-K cup Freyas. They don't feel stretchy, so maybe it's just a feeling of mine best left ignored.
Edit: I'm wondering if I've gotten some sort of an unfortunate specimen of this bra as the band suddenly feels a lot bigger after some five washes, more like a 32 band. Read more 167 more words
hi there i have a very big troubles with this bra i order 30hh and i thought iam ok i altered the straps made them shorter and after a few hours almost all the bust came out no al ,i try 30h because i thought the wires are too far but its was wrong this too ,then i try 32h the same thing ,now i give a last change for 30J if doesnt fits i give up
COMFORT: This bra is sooooo soft and comfy! The material is very smooth and satiny against the skin.
The band is perfect on the tightest hook (not sure if that is due to this bra running loose in the band, or if it is because it is pre-owned and may have been broken in already). It is stretchy, but I'm finding that I actually prefer a stretchy band, as long as it can be tightened enough.
The wires are very wide, and they actually extend an inch or so beyond my where my breast tissue ends- but somehow in this model it doesn't bother me ...or dig into my armpits or sternum at all. The gore tacks.
The straps are not too far apart! I think wearing the proper band size makes a huge difference for me and my narrower shoulders. (If the band size is larger, the straps will be farther apart- I had this problem with a 32H.)
LOOK: This is a sexy bra. It gives my bottom-heavy breasts a lovely Marie Antoinette style cleavage. Shape is lifted, rounded, and front-and-center.
As many have mentioned, the ruffles will show under clothing if the material of your top is thinner or stretchier. However, I got around this problem by layering a cami over it.
The one con is that for some reason, this style makes it obvious that my right boob is slightly smaller (something I had never even noticed before) unless I am very, very fastidious about my swooping, scooping, and bra positioning.
i am officially in love. this bra is lovely, supportive, gives great cleavage without spillover, and surprisingly is wearable under most clothes. i expected the mesh band to be really stretchy, but it isn't at all.
Very excited to have found a true Curvy Kate fit. I took this bra out for a day-long test drive as soon as I got it, and it was comfortable the whole day through.
My only complaints are that the straps are a bit far apart, and the band is a little bit bigger than I could go for (but it's pre-loved, so it's probably been stretched a bit.) The cups are also definitely quite a bit wider than I need- the underwires go quite a bit past where my breast tissue ends, almost to my shoulderblades. However, the wires are very flexible and the sides of the ...cups are shallow so I don't have wrinkling fabric under my arms.
The only negative thing about this is that at the very front, near the gore, the cups are a little shallow so my breasts sometimes quadboob a tiny bit. It's not noticeable under clothes, though, and it's not uncomfortable. The cups might work better with someone whose breasts are placed further apart, though.
This bra definitely gives a rounder, more minimized shape than I'm used to with Freya bras, which have more forward projection. But it's not a bad shape, just different.
One of the ribbons that laces through the top of the cups on the bra I have came loose, so I cut it off; that explains why there's no ribbon across my left boob in the pictures. Read more 129 more words
This bra was just a smidge too small in the cup. A 38HH would definitely work. That is my CK size in the Emily, but I can do a 38H in the Angel.
This bra gave pretty good shape and good lift. Definitely some of the "upside down 7" shape Curvy Kate is notorious for. The bra is comfortable and the band fits nicely.. I'm going to hold on to it since I think it would be a great fit if I was a couple pounds lighter.
Personally, I think this design is a little boring. The bottom of the cup is just plain satin, while the top is just plain mesh with lace at the top edge. Also, the black and blue is pretty but I prefer brighter colors and/or more contrast.
I can't compare this to any other brands, because Curvy Kate is the only one that I've ever had any success with. For me, it fits about the same as every other CK non-padded - too wide-set and the underwire is too long, but it's easy to make a few adjustments. Once I've curved the wires and all but eliminated the space between the cups, it is very comfortable.
I am very fond of CK and the way that they fit me in general, however all of their unpadded bras, this one included, have cups that are set too far apart. In addition to this, the underwires come up very high underneath my arms, which leads to a lot of poking. I was able to fix both problems with small modifications (bending the underwires to better suit the curve of my ribs and stitching the centre gore together, basically eliminating it). The only problem with the latter is that it causes the underwires to overlap slightly, as they were already quite close together at the top, which in turn means that the centre gore is not perfectly flush against my chest on both sides at the same time. The straps are the tiniest bit too long for me because of the embroidery, but it does not cause any problems as the band fits well and has stretched very little since I first got it.
This ran waaaaay small in the cup for me, and I was quadding like nobody's business. Also was missing a bow from the strap when I bought it. the styling was gorgeous, but can't comment much beyond that because of the bad fit.
This is my second Emily and I love it. Great fit, great support, great comfort. I only wish it came in some more fun colors.
The fabric is so soft and flexible. While this probably means it won't give the best lift, it makes for a comfy bra. I get a nice round shape wearing the Emily. The lace nicely hugs the top of my boobs.
The band is the tiniest bit big. I could wear it on the middle hook comfortably. But other than the band and the ok lift, this is one of my faves for an everyday bra.
The CK Emily in 38HH and the CK Angel in 38H both fit well, so I'm not sure exactly which one would be my correct size. I still need to play with the straps a bit, and really get my boobs settled into the cup to be able to decide. But based on comfort and materials, I think I prefer the Emily. It seemed softer and less scratchy. The band seemed stretchier though, so maybe after wearing it for a while it wouldn't fit as well. Both are gorgeous bras. I love the bright colors and contrasting embroidery.
This bra is beautiful https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />. This is the first bra I have that actually, for the most part, fits me. It's not perfect, but I don't know if anything will ever be given my very difficult shape. The band on this may be slightly too big for me, but I can't go down past a 28. It actually fits when I sit down, and does not move around much. I might have even been able to go up one cup size, but I like the appearance it gives. This bra actually manages to make my empty and sagging breasts look somewhat round, so I love it. The only problem I have with this is it doesn't exactly look great under tight clothes because it gives a square shape and looks lumpy under clothing.
This bra is very pretty and I really wanted it to fit right but sadly it does not. The straps are too wide for me, I get some wrinkling in the bottom of the cup and the band is very big for a 28.
Very pretty balconette bra. The band fits me perfectly, it seems. The cup is too small though on both boobs, definite quad boob. So this bra is definitely smaller in the cup compared to the Angel, Romance or Lottie bra. The centre gore starts out resting against my ribcage, but quickly lifts just a bit. I think this is due to the cups being slightly too small. They are wide enough but could be deeper for me. I returned this bra due to quad boob.
Very pretty balconette bra. The band fits me perfectly, it seems. The cup is slightly small though on my larger boob, it's not quite overspill but there is some cutting into the tissue on the top of the cup. The centre gore starts out resting against my ribcage, but quickly lifts just a bit. I think this is due to the cups being slightly too small. They are wide enough but could be deeper for me. I am completely in love with this color combo. I love teal, and the gold embroidery gives it a really royal feeling.
