At first I was very excited about this bra, seemed to fit very well and was comfortable. But then I noticed theres a bit of a shape mismatch, i had minor quad boob in the lower part of the cup but gaping at the top where the strap connects. Overall, I'll likely keep it because its very close, and supportive without underwire stabbing. I also do like the side panel shape.
The bra is very pretty, and looks much less sheer on than it does out of the box, which I appreciated.
So, I initially thought this bra fit really well, almost perfect. Well, I wore it for several hours - and the issues kept cropping up. Firstly, the band is tight - yet it creeps up in the middle to make a reverse U shape. It’s tight though so it digs in under my breasts. My best guess is that the wires are too flexible, so they don’t support the construction, which leads to the straps having to hold up my breasts, thus putting a large strain on the band in the back. I’ve tried this bra with a looser band, but it simply gives the same issues, just even ...worse upwards creep in the back. Compared to my Freya bras, the wires are just useless - I’m currently trying out a Freya Offbeat (75J/34GG) and the wires are much stiffer and supportive. I wonder if I could replace the wire in this Elomi Morgan with my worn out Freya Viva ones (the bra size in those is 32GG though)?
In conclusion, I will be returning this Elomi Morgan, as the bra’s wires can’t hold up my breasts without pulling very badly on the shoulder straps. Read more 84 more words
Did you do a band test. (Putting bra on back to front, upside down, under bust. Band should only be able to be moved/stretched bout an inch and no more then an inch and a half. I am over a K cup and even squeezing into a K I don't get this issue on the shoulders. Straps appear to be done up too tight. I wonder if you going up a cup would help. The wires curve further back at the back under my armpit on this one.
KatrinaKatrina thank you for the feedback - I noticed the straps were quite tight, but it’s not possible to make them longer. I think that’s what’s making the problems. They might just not be long enough for me ~ I tried buying the bra in a band size smaller (32H in uk size) because I thought perhaps the band was not tight enough, even though it’s way stiffer and less stretchy than my Freya bras. The band in that size is just a tad too tight for me and the straps are still not long enough. I’m pretty sad about it, I’m not very handy with sewing. Just incredibly annoying that the straps are too short grr
I would have kept the one in 34GG if it wasn’t for the fact that in that band size it seems to be loose, so when I bend over you can get your hand beneath the band in front, it’s very disturbing haha
Remember that when you go smaller in the band size from 34 to say 32 you need to then up the cup size. A cup size in 34GG is not equal to the cup size in 32GG. There is a good sight called boob or bust to explain this. I would go onto this sight or their facebook page as they have some good images to explain this. Band is sounds too loose from your description. Hope this info will help you.
Hi. Sorry I didn't read the comment saying you tried the 32H already. Band test is first thing you focus on before even thinking about the cups. You do this with the band back to front. Band should only be able to pull out by an inch. If the band passes this test then you can then focus on the cup. If the cup is still small in this band size the breast tissue will push into the band making it to feel tight. In this case you would need a bigger cup size so a 32HH. Remember to scoop and swoop also to get all your breast tissue into the cup.
What happens when you loosen the straps (or are they already let out as far as they can go)? A lot of women with fuller busts are in the habit of overtightening straps at least slightly. Elomi is not particularly known for flimsy wires so if letting out the straps does not solve the issue, I agree with you that the band may be too firm.
KatrinaKatrina that "test" is not a good one as manual pulling does not represent an elasticated band's performance on the body faithfully enough. Depending on cut, construction and materials, bands that can be pulled out quite far with the hand will anchor very nicely on the body for years of regular wear, while other bands that seem impossible to pull out more than an inch could be flapping in the wind in 2 months' time because they are cheaply made (or are just too tight for that wearer).
A more reliable, and far simpler test is to turn the bra upside down just as you suggested, take a few steps, lift arms, do a couple stretches while breathing naturally-- and see if the band stays where it is or not.
This is probably the best fit so far, though I wish there was a balconette. The straps are close enough for my narrow shoulders. The band is too tight, but with an extender I can wear it. The cups are a tad too small and give me a bit of quad-boob, but not too noticeable under clothes. Wore it for a day and it was so comfortable I forgot I was wearing it. The edge of the band didn't irritate my skin like the Panache Jasmines do. I think I will try a 38J and 38HH to see if the too small cup is band related or not.
I initially thought this bra fit, but I have since learned how to properly understand what fit looks like and know it is way too big! This is a great example of what a too-big bra looks like on large breasts. Notice the following in my pics:
1. Wrinkling in underarm area 2. Unsupported, unrounded shape in cups 3. Wrinkling under cup 4. Wires lower than breast root
If your bras are fitting you like this, especially under the cup, your cup size is too large. Keep sizing down until the wire is fitting your roots perfectly, even if you start to get quadding as you go down. It feels counterintuitive, I know, but the quadding will often go away when you hit exactly the right size!
This is a well made bra that comes in many colours.
I liked its fit when it was the right size for me, which unfortunately didn't last long. I have wide roots and this didn't bother me as much as some other bra cuts do.
It's not super supportive if you have heavy breasts because it is just mesh. However. for summer the mesh helps keep one cool.
What's interesting to me as I write this review a couple of years after getting this bra is that I can still get it on and it actually looks fine in the front although I am now measuring 42:11 or 42H. It shows the Matilda in 40GG has quite a lot of room in the cups; it's quite forgiving. It won't work anymore for me though as it cuts into my side breast roots. That's its only problem with this quite large size increase.
Are these photos recent? If so, I think I can help! This bra is actually 1 to 2 cup sizes too big for you, but I think you are right that it may be too narrow for you so going down in this model may not be the best next plan. I have another suggestion in a minute.
I know from experience that it is VERY difficult at our size to tell when a bra is too big, so here's the secret to figuring it out:
1. There is a LOT of extra empty fabric at the top and it covers you like a full-cup bra. The Matilda is a plunge bra that is not supposed to cover much, so that is a huge hint to watch for!
2. When you look at the side, the breast shape is pointy instead of round. This is a very rounding bra and is designed to pull your breasts in quite a bit, not give a bullet shape, so that tells me there is too much volume in the cup.
3. This is the biggest giveaway and will tell you if almost any bra style is too big: when I look underneath, there are wrinkles and the wire is very far below where it should be, which is exactly where the bottom part of your breast connects to your chest.
The most important part of finding a good fit is going to be finding a bra that fits your roots perfectly on both the bottoms and the sides. This is too narrow on the sides and too long or big in the bottom.
I think there is a chance this bra might actually fit properly and wide enough in one or two cup sizes down. That is because there is a good amount of extra width in that bottom outside corner, but the bra being pulled down so low on you is making it pinch your breasts on the outsides. So it would be interesting to see what happens in one or two sizes down, because you really never know. But this bra also may just be too narrow even when it fits your IMF, and that's okay! There are other options.
Like I said in your Flirtelle fit request, I have a hunch the Elomi Lydia might be a great match for you. It is designed for high/short roots that are also wide, which I think is what your roots may be. It is extremely comfortable under the arms in every size I have tried, and it is reasonably supportive even when the wire is too low/the cup is too big. I would get that bra to start with in a variety of sizes. If 42 bands are most comfortable for you, then I would try the Lydia in 42F, 42FF, and 42G. Elomi runs big enough that I think 42GG is going to be way too big especially with how this Matilda is fitting you, but it can't hurt to try that too if you have the option!
Thanks you so much Adler! I really appreciate your fit pointers. And I read this after your comment on the Flirtelle Orla fit request so now I get it that I really do need a smaller cup size like a G or ever FF! I never would have thunk it. but your points about how it's pointy and the low on the chest gore etc. make sense to me. Yes, I just took this photo when I posted it. I do think the front wires fetl like they're too low, perhaps this model too just climbs down too much for a short torso. Many thanks again!
Well, I actually also have a short torso and pretty short breast roots, and the Matilda only climbs down my waist when the wire is too big for me! I think I have pictures on here of me wearing the 38GG, which would show what I mean. When the wire is actually the right size, it stays snug. I was worried the next size down would be too narrow or small on me, but nope—unicorn!
When you find that underwire that fits, often the rest of the bra magically fits too, even if the sizes above it seemed too small in places. It's super weird, but it works. When you're trying to figure out your size, the wire is the most important thing to look for. It's hard to know when it actually fits, but it gets easier with help and practice!
This might be as close as I get to my replacement for an Elomi Tia (discontinued) which is the only bra that doesn't get under my armpits and poke me, and although the gore on that one doesn't lie flat, it's comfortable enough with the angle the gore sits on top of each other.
This is very soft material, however the top of the lace pushes down a little bit on my breast tissue so it could potentially cause some rubbing/irritation. The main issue for me is that the cups (although too wide I'm aware but generally what I have to put up with) are too high and poking a little in my arm pit/arm crack area. Now I have some sensory issues so anytime I get new clothing I am HYPER aware of the fit. It looks like it fits beautifully. The center gore lies flat and that's a surprise given how tall it is. I normally need 3 inches or less. The wings are higher than my current fit as well.
I bought this bra with the expectation I would be able to skip while wearing it Boy was rough. Let's give a round of applause for false advertising and gullible fuller busted women. It is great for light work out like yoga but I am not wearing it to run, jump, hop or skip. My breasts are too large for that. I would like a sports bra that doesn't permit my girls to bounce 🙄🙄
That said it is a great fitting bra very comfortable with no spillage, no straps digging in, the J hook is all types of comfortable.
Hmm, maybe Enell? If you're in the US - there's actually many retailers and one can even purchase them through Amazon, but the last time I checked, Breakout Bras had the most selection of colours and sizes, these are made in the USA too. https://www.breakoutbras.com/collections/enell (disclaimer: I have not actually tried them, but have read good things! Lol. And there's supposed to be also top-notch quality.) B/c it is an expensive bra, I would keep the tags on when I try it on!
The ballet color of this bra is so pretty! But, alas, this is an Elomi that has the elastic along the top of the cup which doesn't fit my shape. This one also seems a lot smaller in the cup than other Elomi styles (Matilda, Morgan). The top of the cup is really digging in more than Morgan. The fabric of this bra is very scratchy, also. Cups are wide and it seems more shallow than Matilda or Morgan.
Compared to my other patterned Energise bra (36H - Elomi » Energise Uw Sports Bra With J Hook (8041)) this one is smaller and rounder in the cups. The gore doesn’t tack quite as well either. Overall though, its performance is still really good. Since I’ve already reviewed this bra in the same size but different color, to read a more in-depth review, you can check the review tagged above! https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
Comfortable. The seams show through a t-shirt. Flattering shape from the side, but it has a weird shape when I look down. Cups allow my breasts to bulge unnaturally, not at the nipples, but about 3cm toward the sternum. I am tempted to keep it, but there's got to be something better. Straps are comfortable except at the strap's seam just above the cup. Where the end of the strap is sewn on the underside, the seam feels rough against my arm.
Comfortable. The lace design on the top of the cups shows through a white t-shirt. Flattering shape from the side, but it has a weird shape when I look down. Cups allow my breasts to bulge unnaturally, not at the nipples, but about 3cm toward the sternum. I am tempted to keep it, but there's got to be something better.
Bra fits and is comfortable in most places. But the edges of the wide strap irritate my skin where it is very tight across my tail of spence. I am tempted to keep this one.
I wear this bra with an extender on the loosest setting and it's pretty comfortable. Wires are too wide but the gore tacks and it sits very close to my IMF that it is comfortable enough for me. At first the fabric was a bit scratchy but after wearing it (and washing) it softens up quite a bit and it's a good good-enough bra for me with my omega shaped breasts. I did rip a tiny hole in the mesh while trying to adjust it so it's not super durable, but that was after several months of wearing only this bra.
Wrinkles on bottom of cup, slight gaping at top of cup. I like the lace on the top edge; since it's a little stretchy it seemed to 'form' to my shape a little and minimize the gaping a little. This is one of the better fitting bras I've tried, but I think I could do better. This would probably be a good 'daily' bra in that it's a little fun but not super extra sexy. I would probably look for a different print if I felt this was a keeper, since it reminds me a bit too much of a bathing suit.
This is decent compared to the Matilda. It is just a bit snugger than I would have liked it to be considering my tummy protrudes outwards right underneath my bust line. The stretch lace is nice, perhaps a little too snug near the center gore if I am positioned wrong. The wire sits great where it does considering it is more angled at a slope compared to the near straight up of the Matilda.
This was a gift from pretty_promise and I really like it! The black definitely looks much better than the nude in this particular bra. Removing the elastic strip along the edge of the cup definitely helped the fit a TON, but I did notice that during the day my breasts migrate north with the wires getting pushed down and so I have to occasionally shimmy back in to get the muffin top to settle back in to where wrinkles have developed in the bottom of the cups. However, I will ignore this because the wires don't dig at my sides or armpit, the band is ...PERFECTLY snug, the straps don't slide off my shoulders, and most importantly the gore is just not an issue- I don't even think about it. Other bras I was having issues with the gore coming up too high or just pressing into my sternum/breast tissue at a very painful angle. I wore the bra all day without issue. Win!
I tried this bra in many sizes and I would say that when in doubt- try sizing down in cup and maybe even band. I like it as an everyday bra- it's the kind you can put on and for the most part forget about-except for the shimmy readjusting I mentioned. But for its comfort and durability I think this bra is pretty good! Read more 122 more words
This bra's measurements have been altered
Removed elastic along the top of the cup. Measurements reflect the cups WITH the elastic still attached.
Reminds me of the Elomi Cate. Cup feels too high in the front near the strap so it shows under some tops and just feels too close to my neck. I don't like how high the cup is under my arm when I raise my arms in front of me. The Cafe au Lait is on the darker side. I have some gapping in the upper cups and around the underwire, which is normal for my projected shape. I'm still finding my size in general but the band is definitely too big for me. It felt like there was good lift. I didn't like how the top lace part wasn't stretchy- I like the forgiving nature of stretch lace at the top of the cup. I don't think I would bother trying this one again once I do find my true size.
