So last night I witnessed something strange. My 30E - Anna Pardal For Comexim » Sabine fits perfectly when PMSing, but is a little large in the cups when I'm not. I quite literally went from it fitting perfectly at the beginning of my shift at 5pm, to clearly a cup size (and three hooks on the band) ... too large by 7pm. I know I work a physical job, and I was a bum all weekend, but I've never seen water weight disappear so quickly. Needless to say, the following two hours were . . . unpleasant, lol.

Switching BC

Had Paragard removed and Mirena inserted yesterday. Now the wait begins: will this affect my breast size? One part of me goes: Oh, bigger would be nice! One part of me goes: It doesn't really matter, I'll love myself either way.

And one part of me goes: I have a gorgeous, slightly expensive, dream Comexim on the way. I will be so pissed if it doesn't fit because of this.

- It's not a guarantee (different people get different side effects) but it is definitely possible for hormonal birth controls to affect your breast size

Lift?

I realized I'm relatively low set and I have a short torso, I can fit about two fingers between my hips and ribs when I stand straight. My breasts start about a hands width under my collar bones. If I push up and in slighty on the breast like I think a bra might my breast tissue starts 2 fingers' ... width below my collarbone. This probably sounds silly but I have a mole on my arm and I noticed the my nipples sit just slightly below it and with a bra on they sit just slightly above it maybe a 1/2 inch difference. Also when. I look at my bra pictures it doesn't look like my bras are really doing much work. I do notice that my bras center my breasts better but it doesn't seem like they lift them as much as I would hope. I don't think my breastfeeding droop naturally too much but that might be optical illusion from projection and nipple placement. I hate wearing v neck or scoop shirts- which seem to basically be every tee shirt- because it seems like there is so much distance between my chin and my boobs that my neck looks abnormally long and my boobs very low. Maybe it just being overly insecure at the moment but does anyone else have any of these issues or solutions?

- Mine sit really low too! I can actually almost fit a vertical hand between collarbone and top of round part of breast if I don't have a bra on - but there's little to no droop. My inframammary fold isn't even covered by tissue. I despise it - always felt like it makes me look saggy and I worry when I really start to develop a pendulous shape they'll be at my belly-button. I think it might be related to tall roots - the actual breast tissue goes thinly up to my collarbone, which shows when they're pushed up, but is ski slope-y down. Looking at your pictures, our shapes look similar.
  
  As far as lift - I've had good luck with Cleo , padded Freya (only the vertical seam ones), Fantasie , and Comexim .
  
  Panache, Parfait By Affinitas, Curvy Kate, molded Passionata, and molded Panache Cleo all seem to shape my boobs without giving them much lift. YMMV, but I think it is partially cup placement on band, and partially where the apex of the cup is.
  
  In my case, tall roots seem to go with narrow roots, so narrow wires have a better chance of moving things upward instead of squidging them sideways. Lots of immediate projection at the bottom also helps.
- Comexim and Anna Pardal lift like I never thought possible. Without these bras, even the lowest v-neck shows no breast tissue. The lift in my Comexim bras move my splayed tissue to center and create gentle, lifted cleavage. I so appreciate the lift! Hope you find a few bras that cause you to smile!

How do you tell tall vs short roots?

I've tried google to no avail. Anyone have a method for determining root height? Thanks

- I think exact root height is hard to measure!
  Also has to do with other 'breast dimensions', like being higher or lower set.
  
  But I guess what's generally meant is how high up your tissue ends? For me in a bra, the breast tissue almost goes up to my collarbone, while I'm not especially high-set. So I guess my roots are kind of tall.
  
  Most people find out through fit issues. For example, if bras (with enough depth) often cut into your upper tissue. Or for short roots, if you have a hard time filling out the top of the cups.
  
  Speaking for myself, tall roots need bras that are more open on top, like half-cups.
  
  Interesting by the way, just thinking along: are definitions of FOB / FOT also related to root height? I suspect FOT and tall roots often go together. Or are there lots of 'hybrid' possibilities, FOB breasts with taller roots? (:
- Although I have tissue up to my collarbone, it is shallow. Bras that look to big (too tall), often cause nearly instant breast pain in the lower quadrant of my breast. I began wearing a 32DD UK full cup with lots of discomfort. Now, 30G UK half cups are considerably more comfortable...unless they are shallow.

My SO and I were discussing this thread from Reddit's Big Boob Problems. I don't remember what he said, but what came out of my mouth was, "So, wait. Society sees boobs as ladyboners?! ... But they don't go down!!"

After he stopped laughing, he started talking about it seriously with me.

So, yeah. We've come to the conclusion that society somehow sees breast size as analogous to erections. And that society is severely in need of education about how breasts work.

Hi, everyone. I'm sure many of you won't remember me. I have 2 people that I agreed to do bra swaps with months ago, but then I started having more severe problems with my kidney, was hospitalized for a bit... Had to move to another state to get into their healthcare system because my family member who will likely provide ... my transplant lives here. Also, I could get much better access to specialists here. Two days before Thanksgiving, I broke my ankle -- which led to being diagnosed with a rare genetic neuromuscular disease in the muscular dystrophy family.

Anyway, if it's all right with you, I'm just going to mail back the bras that you sent in swaps (I have a total of 4 from 2 different people) to the owner of this site and ask her to please sort it out because I'm not even sure where to send these now. I also need to cancel all of my listings -- I see I have 224 notifications since last signing in here, and there is no way I can get through them all. I'm very sorry for disappearing. And I've sorted everything with my "fitting help" requests, so I need those taken down too. Can someone with admin power help me with this?

I've stayed away because I was embarrassed about getting overwhelmed and flaking out on the bra swaps, but I've been continuing to use this site as a resource. I also finally found some bras that fit me pretty well as a person who is full on bottom, center-full, wide-set and uneven. They are:

Figleaves Lulu Tout Lucille 32H (I was not optimistic, but I got it with free shipping for $18.50 and had just grown out of my other 2 bras that were working)
Panache Envy 32H (Holy hell, it has more room in the bottom than Jasmine. THANK YOU to whoever wrote the review about that -- it's the one and only Panache that works for me. Most people who review it don't seem to realize it really does have more room in the bottom of the cup than Jasmine, but it was the one reviewer here who explained it that made me buy it.)
A couple of Kris Lines -- finally figured out I need a 70I or J with them.
Curvy Kate Bardot 32HH -- Saw it on zulily for $16 and couldn't resist after I read the reviews here. I don't find it super supportive, but wow, I never thought a single CK would work for me.
Fayreform Francesca 32H -- has recently become a little too shallow.

Anyway, when things slow down healthcare-wise (tomorrow I have to go get fitted for some ankle-foot orthotics and then go to an MRI), I would like to get some new reviews and measurements up. I feel like I actually know what I'm looking for now -- and more or less how to judge fit. And I'll be sending the 4 bras back as soon as I know what to do.

Have you had your boobs professionally cleaned lately?

I was walking by a dry cleaner in the underground shopping mall and spotted a sign for winter boot cleaning. The sign read "We clean your UGGS". I did a double take and then glanced down at my boobs because I read it as "We clean your JUGGS"

- Jokes aside, this would be a good opportunity to remind everyone to make sure you wash underneath them in your IMF... my friend's mom got an infection there cuz she wasn't washing it x_x

  You can actually get a fungal infection under or between the breasts even with excellent hygiene though. It is especially common in pregnancyAnd you can get a bacterial skin infection (staph, etc.) randomly, it doesn't mean you are dirty--those bacteria are always present on human skin. Just a PSA, I would hate anyone to be reluctant to see a healthcare provider for a skin issue on or around their boobs for fear of being thought not to bathe enough! No doctor/nurse will assume that, people get rashes and skin infections all the time for unrelated reasons.

very uneven breasts?

I'm still new here, and when adding measurements you put in the perimeter of your larger breast. Well, today I decided to measure my smaller side, too, and it is nearly two inches smaller in perimeter, measured both leaning forward and lying on my back.

Is that more than a full cup size difference? What does this mean for me in terms of finding bras that work?

The bras in my drawer right now *kind of* fit the small boob, and I quad a lot on the large side.

- yeah, that is more than a cup size, I think? In general ppl say you should fit your bigger side. YOu can use pads to make the smaller side fit better if you need to. after all, quadding can show through a shirt - at least it often does on me. i dont remember if I've checked the difference between my two sides
- That difference in cup sizes is going to be relative to the size of your boobs. If you have one 7" boob and one 9" one, that could be as much as 3 cup sizes. If you have one 11" breast and one 12.7" breast, that could be either one or 2 cup sizes depending on the bra.
  But either way, you need to fit Big Sister Boob and if desired, use a pad or cookie on the smaller side. Otherwise you will be perpetually uncomfortable.

Boobs keep getting smaller...

I posted a fit check recently for my 60J Comexim Joy longline. I thought it was a near perfect fit, and others seemed to agree. Only a few weeks later, it's obviously too big - poking me in the armpits, not filling the top, wires too wide - all the usual complaints. I have no idea what happened. It was ... like my breasts just shrunk overnight. I don't think I'm losing weight anymore, but they won't stop shrinking. This is just so frustrating. So glad I held off on placing an order from Comexim of all 60Js, but now I don't know what size I do need or how long that would continue to be my size. Ugh!

- These breasts are alive :-) :-) My research indicates they can fluctuate one to two sizes throughout the month. You might want to wait a few weeks before you give up on 60J. I, too, require two sizes each month.

Sigh.

Another bad, bad article shared by Wellfitting on facebook. I had to comment this time... this stuff is not just bad opinions, it's what puts women in bad and painful bras. And so ironic, why you would sell sub-32 band full-bust bras and then go around saying that stores are putting women in cups too large and bands too small?! ... If i had read this and thought it was true when Nordstrom fit me in a 34D, i would have gone back to 36 bands to try to fix all the fit problems! I wonder how MissShapen, who modeled for them in a size 28P, would feel about this. It doesn't make any sense for them to advertise that they even sell 28P and then post this. I wonder if Comexim knows who they're dealing with..

- Oh wow. I'm really not surprised this was written by a breast surgeon (that is, someone who stands to gain from pushing people who wear bras into matrix sizes and profiting off those who feel uncomfortable in 32-36 A-D). Wellfitting should be ashamed of themselves. This is blatant misinformation.
  
  I was already at the point where I wasn't planning to purchase from them again myself (quality control needs improvement, the items run smaller compared to Comexim, and they charge a significant markup compared to Comexim), but if they're actively promoting such bad advice I don't think I can continue to recommend them - even with caveats - on my blog anymore.
- Blah, I hate articles about vanity sizing. It doesn't actually solve any problems and, maybe it's just me but, I wasn't alive/old enough so many years ago when it used to be different so it's not like I'll know the difference anyway if there was any (also, I heard vanity sizing is a myth anyway...). They should just talk about how to find a well fitting bra, how it should fit, etc. regardless of the number/letters on the label.
  
  Anyway, I agree. Wellfitting shouldn't have shared that article.

Can you help me help someone?

B. is my sister-in-law (well, technically, her husband is my cousin - but we consider each other more like brother and sister).
She is a big girl - quite tall and noticeably although not dramatically overweight, mostly in her upper body.
She comes across as self-conscious and clumsy; in a way, the first thing that comes to mind looking at her ... is "she doesn't take care of herself", and if you knew her, you'd know it's true.
And believe me, my standards aren't very high.
I know from personal experience that it can be a question of avoidance, and it is in her case too.

I see her suffer (in silence) and I see her husband suffer (and hear him too). He is on the verge of despair because, while he knows he never married her "for her good looks" he can't fathom how someone could be so careless (and he's actually the very opposite - watching his weight, athletic, smartly dressed etc.).

I know all too well that she can't be asked/told/suggested to lose weight/start exercising/dress better/whatever, because that's like saying "now, turn your life around". In a snap. And besides, who's anyone to say?

But I firmly believe that a little instant gratification could help her feel a little better about herself, and who knows what might happen next.
I'm confident we'll all agree this gratification could come in the form of a properly fitting bra, or we wouldn't all be here

So basically I'm looking for ideas on how to put this forward, perhaps pique her curiosity, or any other cue you might want to offer.

I hope no one will feel called into question or offended in any way; I am talking about a specific person whom I know very well and love. Everything I say is in reference to her and myself, I am not implying anything about anybody else or anyone's way of dealing with their body image and issues (or not).

- I don't think this was an appropriate place to post all of this. You could have just said "I think my sister in law would feel a lot better with a well-fitting bra, how can i bring it up to her?" etc. This is supposed to be a place where people of all sizes can come to get bra fit advice without comment on their body, and implying that someone's weight means they aren't taking care of themselves does not create an inclusive environment and may be triggering for some people. The idea is that we don't make comments on people's bodies, just their bras.

  I did not "comment" on her body, I described it. I was giving context for whoever would be reading.
  And I did not equate "overweight" with "not taking care". You are reading a causation that is not there. Why, I am overweight myself, and if anyone described me as such I would take no exception.
  
  The reason why I decided to provide context instead of saying what you suggest ("I think my sister in law would feel a lot better with a well-fitting bra, how can i bring it up to her?") is precisely because 1) there are issues behind all this that I'm all too aware of, and 2) I wanted it to be clear that it's a very specific and personal situation. Your suggestion is so generic that it actually reads more judgmental in my opinion.
  
  Obviously I tried so hard to explain things that I failed. And perhaps misinterpreted the title "boob and body issues".
  
  So, let's not overthink this: where do you think this would be appropriate? :)

Hello everyone...I have a question...I have a niece, she's 11, who is busty but slim. Her mother bought her a v neck swimsuit (which is horrible for larger breast at providing coverage) but she's practically falling out of it. What do I do? I want her to have proper coverage and she's still into the "kids" items. Bras are also ... a problem but she doesn't like real bras right now and prefers genie bras, as she gets older my mom and I will keep her in well fitting bras but for now, swimwear is a huge issue. Do you guys think a bandeau type suit will work better? Or should I take her with me to get sized next week on the off chance she really is something like a 28D?

- Curvy kate makes some tankinis that might be appropriate for her. Where were you planning to take her to get fitted? There's not many places in the US that fit properly, it might be better to measure her at home.
- A rash guard might help. I've seen lots of kids wearing them still around that age. I don't think I would have handled being sized well at that age. And 28D doesn't sound too busty yet. I can understand though something fitting everywhere but the chest, especially in a swimsuit so I'm not downplaying the issue. Is the suit a two piece?

- Yep, that was my cranky Twitter post for the day. They could have still written the article without referring to a specific person's choice to get a reduction - they could have just referred to the table of reasons people commonly get them.
  
  I'm sick of seeing women shamed and criticised for the choice to have any kind of breast surgery (and Curvy Kate's attitude towards such women has been dismissive in the past, when they barred women who'd had any kind of breast surgery, medically required or elective, from competing in Star in a Bra and remained silent in the face of complaints). Two things make this blog post especially glaring to me; the woman they are criticising is a minor who's stated publicly that she's sick of comments about her body, and the fact that they are making this argument to promote their brand and sell products rather than any regard for women's health.
- @Keighleyknight you hit the nail on the head with all of your observations. CK isn't so body positive now, are they?

An Experiment... Now to Butcher/Alter My Gores

Wish me luck!

I did a little experiment. First, I used a nail file to help me draw a straight line along my IMF from boob to boob. Then I drew another straight line between my breasts until the top of the line was even with whatever tissue was obvious when my boobs are unsupported. Then I started making little ... horizontal lines in half-inch increments until I reached the top.

Finally, I grabbed my measuring tape and measured the distance between my breast tissue (where the gore would sit if I wore a bra) while unsupported. Then I did the same while making a "hand bra". It turns out that I need a gore to be 2" wide at the level of the very lowest point of my IMF, three quarters of an inch wide an inch above that, and at the next increment it needs to be half a centimeter or less in width.

Suddenly I feel a lot less frustrated about my gores. I think I'll have to sew most of my bras to have at least the top inch or so of the gore overlapping, and I'm going to try.

Also, on an odd note, it turns out that unsupported, my breasts from IMF to top of obvious tissue are about 3.5" tall, and when my boobs *are* supported they're still only 4.5"-5" tall. That's measuring along my "gore line", not over the curves of the breasts themselves. But it makes the crazy shortness of my boobs make more sense to me.

- I've been researching designing my own supportive, comfortable bra for "very short roots." It is predictable that a bra "looks like a fit" when it isn't remotely close. Time to dust off my sewing machine. ;-)
- Since I don't wear them often, I tried overlapping the gore on my 28H CK Tease Me and my 30G Cleo Marcie.
  
  Spoilers:
  * It does make the gore fit!
  * It helps with apex alignment! (My nipples are usually closer to the gore while the apex of each cup is an inch or so more toward my armpits.)
  * It helps with projection issues I was previously experiencing.
  * It shortens the band more than I realized it would.

Comexim, Perimeter, Panties??

Hi everyone,

I was hoping to buy a Comexim bra in the very near future, but I am a bit confused on sizing. I am still looking for a bra that really fits. My current best fit is Curvy Kate Arizona 30J. I have OIG bc the wires are too wide and this causes slight quadds as it slides down when ... I pull it up the quadds are reduced. I was thinking of going 70L in comexim because the perimeter/depth is close to that of the Curvy Kate bra (11.5"), is this a mistake considering the wires will be narrower? My measurements are:

btt: 29"
snug: 31"
bust: 42"
Perimeter: L/14, R/13.5
High set, short/narrow root, close set, center fullness, fot/even, semi soft...

About how much depth should I be looking for, taking into account my softer boobs? Also, any recommendations on panty sizing, since I have virtually found none?

- I'm not very good at judging sizes for others, so unfortunately I'm not much help for your first question. But, I can help you with panties!
  
  Comexim is true to their measured size chart. I have 38" (96cm) hips and I wear a M. I have a few smalls, and while they are fine in a thong, briefs cut into my bum (I have slim hips and a big ass). The Ms fit great.
  They run smaller vs other brands. I wear a 36/38 in Ewa Michalak and an XS/S in American brands (Target, VS).
  If I just go by size at Comexim (36/38) the chart puts me in a S, but my measurements put me in the M, which is accurate.
  
  Measure your hips, then find where you fall in the size chart. If you fall in between sizes, I would go with the larger size.

I got married, and my boobs grew... (Drastically it seemed)

This is probably TMI for a lot of people so I'm sorry for that, but I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Before I got married I wore a 36B, 34C (barely filling the C cup really). After I got married, my girls were the main attraction for my husband. He has spent a lot of time handling ... them, to the point where they are/were frequently very sore and tender.. Within the first year of my marriage they were falling out of my bras and my back hurt (major quad boob, and my old bras just clearly were not supporting them). My husband introduced me to bratabase and I found my true size now is a 36DD which fits and supports my boobs perfectly.
(Also, in case you were wondering, I have never been pregnant)
I think with all the interaction, the girls adjusted themselves... If that makes any sense?

CALL FOR PICTURES!

I am writing an academic paper about prophilaxis of breast cancer and thoracic spine pain and I need pictures of breasts in bras to visualize the problem with matrix sizing! Preferably with light background. If you want to help science (and boobs!) please comment and I will get in touch

Giving Thanks

It's Thanksgiving here in the US, a day when family and friends gather together for a big traditional meal and (sometimes) reflect on all the things we are thankful for in our lives. Its a beautiful holiday, free of religion but full of meaning. One of the things that I give thanks for this Thanksgiving Day is this community and ... the joy this journey has given me. Last winter, in the middle of ice & snow & dark & cold & doldrums, I stumbled upon abtf and this site. Having worn theexactsamebra in atotallywrongsize for nearly a decade with no one to tell me otherwise, the discovery was a revelation. I read, I measured, I experimented, I got frustrated and exalted, I lusted, I posted, I met lovely people who sent me bras, supported each other, or said wise things without judgement. Like fresh air and sunlight, self-awareness and pride in my body blossomed as my collection of beautiful, well fitting bras grew (let's not talk about the $$ side, K?). I never knew. Now I do. And for that - for all of you - this Thanksgiving Day, I am so very, very thankful. Enjoy the holiday!

- Those girls need to be resized, bands are way too big! :P But anyway, great article! I hate how ridiculously priced some swim suits are. I probably only go swimming a few times in the summer, so I don't want to pay near $200 just for one good fitting AND good looking suit!! XD
  I wish they would have featured Panache Swim and Freya Swim in the article, I'm sure they would have been much happier in bra-sized swim tops! :)
- A nice article but I would´ve loved it if fit issues were stated clearly! And also I think those ladies need to be re-fit to get better bras+bikinis...
  
  Also it´s a bit odd reading "big boobs" and "D cups". I really don´t think D cups are big at all... I´ve always been on the small end regarding to boobs, and I wear 28F ("F cups"!!).
