Oh my goodness.... I'm waiting on 2 bras to arrive and hoping they help me determine how those brands & shapes might fit me and give me a jumping off point and I still can't.stop.stalking eBay, Amazon, and the listings on here. And I'm not even brand-new to the world of Proper Bra Sizing, I've known for a long ...time I wasn't in the right size but haven't had the funding to pursue a wardrobe of correctly sized bras. Still can't at full price, but I feel this will be an expensive journey. I'm already 4 bras in and only 2 that fit and one of them isn't a perfect fit so really, I only have 1. My patience for the mail is so short. I hope the mailman is prepared for an ambush Friday and Saturday.
Off topic - my measurements (which I've triple checked now) and the bras Bratabase recommends do not line up, at all, with what has fit me best. Depending on where I stop on my ribcage on the perimeter measurement (I'm not sure where to stop) I come up with 10-12." But my 2 best fitting bras have cup depths of 8-9." Seriously, I know they fit, any larger and I'd be gapping. This method makes perfectly logical sense in my head, so what gives... Read more 168 more words
Ambush the postman you say? Keep in mind they have pepper spray and they aren't afraid to use it. ;)
Have you considered applying for credit cards? In the interest of budget needs, as in your budget needs you to buy more bras with it - and because more is always the answer!
;)
are you doing all 3 measurements? For me (tho its been a year), Horizontal is 16 inches, Vertical is 15 and laying is 14, and I need 13.5 to 14. But I think its because my boobs are SO VERY saggy . . .I dont want them all stretched out like that, I want them bunched up in to a rounder shape. Plus, low-cut bras dont cover your whole breast, so the depth would be slightly lower for plunges, I think?
Since Saturday I've serendipitously received my orders from Claudette (2nd order, too-big ones from first order soon to be listed), Linda's NY, and Dahlia's Boudoir UK!!!
I got in my Cleo Ellis (and matchy undies) from Linda's after being backordered since... Was it January?! No February, I think. It worked out really well. Gorgeous floral. So pretty in person. Will ...post a review.
I also got in Claudette's Dessous Sucre in Orange/Pink, which is so bright and fun! Plus I got the black Paramour in my Dessous size and it's perfect. (Anybody in the market for two 32F Claudette Paramours?)
And... Drumroll please... My UK order is finally here after it spent the last couple of weeks clearing customs at O'Hare! Replacement Deco Charm and Cleo Darcy in smaller bands are here and looking cleavagy and cakes-on-a-plate-y, respectively. Really great prices, too! I also ordered a fushia Freya Patsy and a Masquerade Rhea in Antique, which is getting hard to find. All are gorgeous, all fit!! Hurray!!!
Unfortunately there was a little hiccup... I also ordered a 32E Lily Swan Colorway from Dahlias. But they sent me a 28J instead! Have emailed and am awaiting response.
I recently tried the Curvy Kate Starlet Moulded Bra (CK2501) and it fits the best I've had for a T-shirt bra. My usual 30G was way too tight in the band, so I sized up to 32FF which works, although a 32FF and a half would be my best cup size since it's a tad shallow. 32G ...would likely gape a lot and be too high up on the cup sides/armpit area.
I ran a comparison here and it says that Curvy Kate Smoothie Moulded Bra (CK2401) is the same cut as Starlet. But I've read hardly any good things about Smoothie in my size range and comparisons here are limited due to lack of measurements.
I will be ordering a Starlet to pick up at my holiday destination in a month's time. There is only one in my size, but I can throw a Smoothie in too. I'm not sure if they run the same and I should get the same size in both, or opt for my usual 30G in Smoothie. Once I order them, I'm kind of stuck with them for vacation.
My only slight fit issue with Starlet is that the cups are a little high at the sides. So if that is worse with Smoothie I'd better not, but this is not something easily measured abstractly using inches or cm. I'm short and high-set, so a wider wire can have less discomfort than a taller one, etc. I'm pendulous with soft tissue.

I know someone posted a few months ago, asking if you finally found a bra that fit, did you order it in every color? And a few people said yes - but now I'm wondering . . . how many do I REALLY need? I mean, Floris I have in purple is my favorite bra. I've ordered ...Olivia (supposed to be similar cut) in peach. I intend to get the Floris in ivory floral in June . . and if they still have the 1 gray in my size I'm tempted to get that too - i mean, its half price, right? and then Olivia comes out in a lovely blue in the fall . . .
I am currently wearing my EM BM perla, which is slightly more comfy than Floris but not quite as uplifting/projected and I climb out during the day. I've about given up on Marcie, as the in-cup quad was visible under a summer loose blouse. Dont see Fioleck or whatever becoming a regular wear bra.
But doesnt 3 Floris and 2 Floris clones sound like a lot? oy Read more 130 more words
I have owned (at the same time) 6 Mimi Holliday lace comfort bras, 6 MH padded plunge bras, 3 Panache sport bras, 4 CK Tease me bras, 3 Marcie styles, 5 Panache Andorras, 3 Fauve Chloes, and what else... Currently I own 3 Freya Decos, etc Most of those bras don´t even fit me perfectly.
I tend to fall in love with a certain bra and buy too many in different colours ;)
If you think about it, 5-6 bras really are a minimum, we should rotate so at least 3 per rotation. 2 rotations means 6 bras to allow for washing /drying time! I have a rotation I love (2xCleo and a Floris) and one not so much (2xBravissimo and an Idina plunge). The plan is to replace the not so good with more Cleo/Floris and have the plunge as an extra for when needed!
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can reccomend a good strapless bra for me. I wear a 32GG/H and have projected, narrow breasts that are very full on top. I also have some ribcage anomaly that makes me prefer a lower central gore. Just looking at most styles I never came across anything that would vaugely look like it could fit shape-wise and went above a G cup.
The only one I can think of is Ewa Michalak's strapless. I have yet to try it but it does look like it would fit the bill! I plan to order it once they release the strappy bras.
Stanikomania had an interview with Ewa Michalak and had a tour inside her workshop. Sadly I can only understand when they say Rozmiar, Stanik and Bustionoz in polish, but still seeing the images is very interesting to see how they manufacture those bras!
Another option is to go to a bra you have to begin with and go to the "Explore by measurements" option. That will have a few options to search for bras changing their characteristics:
It completely varies by size - and honestly, the only bra you have listed does not look like it fits you (aside from the poking). You might want to do a fit request ,so we can see your measurements compared to your bra. The shapes of wires vary so much by size . . there is no way to just recommend a short, narrow wire . .. for example, Marcie is narrow in some sizes and wide in others. Some people with very short roots end up looking at demicups, but if you are in the completely wrong size, you might be able to do better than that.
While at first I felt frustrated about how few choices there were of bras in my size (32J UK, or thereabouts), sometimes I look at all the amazing variation of bras that some of you in the matrix sizing can buy and . . how on earth do you ever choose? I think I'm actually glad that my choices are so narrow, so I can figure out what fits and . . stop worrying about it! Until they stop making my bra, of course. the things I love are always discontinued.
I'd use a great big wheel like it was the bra-selecting version of 'wheel of fortune'.
Or maybe pin the tail on the bra-choices chart which would be up on a huge wall.
I'm not in matrix but I haven't had any problems finding things in my size 32G/34FF. I've eliminated a lot of brands from my buying scope just from what I've seen on this site (Cleo everything, Panache everything but the Sport, etc). I'm wide-rooted so those brands do nothing for me. Then it's just a matter of what I've tried on and learned from that. I buy a lot of cheap (<$10) bras on Reddit, so I've gained a lot of experience in what I do and don't like. I don't like unlined anything. I don't like anything that is full coverage. I like any molded bra made by Freya. I like wiiiiiide wires. I like top-openness of half-cups and plunges. So, most of the bras I buy are half-cups or some other kind of lined or molded alternative.
How the bra looks on me has been the most important aspect of its fit. I know a lot of styles that fit me, but they look terrible on and I feel terrible with them on. So, I simply don't buy what doesn't look good.
I don't know if this has been posted here before or not so I apologize in advance if it has. I just came across this article of start up company that is rethinking bra design for the larger breasted women out there.
I'll start of by apologizing and warning that is is going to be a long rant. I clearly need to get a life. So if you don't feel like reading about my boobs in too many words and with very little substance then go ahead and scroll down to the end or skip this all together.
I'm on a quest ...for perfect cleavege. There, I said it. Now I know a lot of my friends here are on the well endowed side when it comes to boobie volume. I on the other hand have a "large" cupsize if you just look at the letter: E/F/FF/G/GG/H depending on brand and if I actually get to buy my bandsize with is 26/55 or if I'm stuck with 28's. But yeah, when you take my band size in to consideration you realize the volume isn't very big. So I'm in this weird limbo of wanting to make the most of my boobs just like all the small chested ladies, but at the same time buying DD+ bras. But to make it simpler for you to grasp I think I'm a 28E/F in most UK brands even though the bands are too big. So I do have the all to common problem of "Yay! this bra comes in 28 or 30 band, I can probably alter it to fit me.. hold up,, wtf it only comes in A-D?" or "Ooh, look at this pretty bra, it has a big range of DD-H- cups, let's see the band starts at...32?? In my opinion bras in the sizes 28-30 DD-F should be more similar to bras in 32 A-C.. I'm talking push-up and maximizing your boobies.. but still the right fit of course. To me it feels like most DD+ bras regardless of bandsize are there to cater to busty ladies who feel like "I do not need to add to my cleavage, it's more then enough as it is" But DD+ doesn't necessarily mean "more than enough" if the band is 28 or smaller..
But not only is it hard to even find a bra that is remotely my size, the fit has to work too.. and even if it does fit some bras just don't do anything for me. I read somewhere that if you have a C-cup or above cleavage shouldn't be hard to obtain with the right bra. Since I don't remember where I read that let's just assume the writer was stuck in the bra-matrix, that would still make me a 32D or something. BUT - I have wide set boobs and they also span over a large area of my upper torso, they actually seem to start about an inch under my collarbone but the tissue is so thin there it's hard to tell... but what all this does is that braless my wonderful boobies look rather small, but collected into a well fitting bra they look large-ish for my frame.. and I LIKE that but still really hard to get cleavage! I really need inserts or foam padding that will push my breast front and centre to get something other that a very gradual slope from the gore up to the cup. Summer is around the corner and I wear a lot of strappy and shear tops and dresses (or rather they hand in my wardrobe since I don't know what to wear under them) so what I'm looking for is a smooth nude strapless bra that will give me cleavage! I do own a strapless bra in the Charade line from Change but it does what so many other strapless bras I've tried does- nothing good! The cups are so full-coverage so they just sort of lay like pancake-lids on top of my boobs instead of cupping and lifting. The clothes that I need a strapless bra under often are a bit more lowcut and the cups of my Charade bra come up so high they usually show, so where you're expecting to see lovely soft hills or at least skin you get bra instead. I tried on a veeerry promising Calvin Klein bra the other day, it was nude and strapless and had this really agressive pushup foam lining inside the cups, but it only came in a D cup so I had so much quad and spillage it was ridiculous. I would have needed at least 2 cup sizes larger and that was in a 30-band. But they don't make they any larger then that. I also tried the wonderbra in both 30 E and F and they just sat ontop of my chest doing nothing for me.
SO I've been looking at reviews online for awesome cleavage inducing strapless bras and there is one bra that seems endlessly popular, the Up Bra. This bra is all about pushing your girls up up up and together. They don't make them in small bands or big cups but I'm thinking altering a 32DD into a 28 F might be worth a try. I couldn't find anything on bratabase about this bra so is there truely no one here who has given this baby a try? Am I kidding myself with this idea or is it worth a try?
I've got a couple of incoming transfers that have been pending for a very long time and I've not seen the bras. I went out of town for a bit after the transfer was initiated, but I asked the landlord to hang on to my mail, so that shouldn't have been an issue. I've tried messaging the two people a couple of times and gotten no response. Is there anything I can do?
so i sold a 34C bra on ebay for under $6 (including shipping) and the newbie that bought it says that it's "not as described" and not a 34C, when the label clearly says it is. yuck. i give up on selling bras on ebay any more i suppose, when/if i get it back in the mail, it will be going straight to charity instead.
This reminds me of feedback I was reading on someone else's account who I was buying from earlier.
All the negative feedback was like that. I don't think some people understand that ebay isn't Amazon where feedback is rating the product and "not as described" doesn't mean "I sized myself incorrectly and it didn't fit". :[ Sorry this happened to you. Ebay stinks sometimes.
I sold a chantelle bra once and the buyer went off and left negative feedback because the tag said it was manufactured in a diff country than her other chantelle bras so she believed it was counterfeit. >_> i even produced evidence that chantelle has manufacturing facilities in multiple locations all over europe but she refused to believe me.
I'm getting pretty tired of waiting! I don't have this kind of patience! I placed an order for a Ewa Michalak Pl Blekitna Rapsodia (658-21) and an Ewa Michalak S Kamea (600) in a 65HH and the matching Rapsodia thong in February! They needed to order in stock but about 14 days later my order ...shipped out. It happened to ship right before the USPS sent out that emergency alert about the ridiculously backed up state of incoming international packages at JFK. Well we are in April now and still no package! It has officially been a month since it shipped now! After 3 weeks it FINALLY scanned through ISC NY, but a week later there hasn't been a peep from it ever since! It hasn't scanned again and it hasn't shown up. It is just MIA! It usually takes 3 days to get to me once it scans ISC NY so I am very confused and VERY frustrated right now! GRRRR I need my bras! Read more 116 more words
How frustrating! At least its lost in this country, not somewhere in Europe, but still very frustrating. I was surprised how SMALL my EM packages were - no padding or anything, just two unpadded bras in a plastic pouch lol. I was also lucky in that mine came through RI instead of NY
I am definitely happy about that! I was worried it was completely lost before that scan so I am glad to have at least SOME idea! :) How strange! I have only received one EM package so far and it was actually in a box! A very beat up box but at least the bra survived ;) Yes definitely lucky! I had the worst timing I guess because a few bra buddies ordered around the same exact time and every one received their packages awhile ago! I'm going crazyyyyyy :D
After wearing my 65M - » Mint Biustonosz (331)Comexim with RC and LG for a few hours yesterday, I realized the cups still aren't reduced enough for me. The bra was attacking my armpits terribly! It is the same thing that happened with my unaltered 65M - Comexim » Juliette (237) Juliette ...but less severe (Juliette gave me a seriously horrible line of rubbed raw tissue in each armpit!). It was annoying enough that I could only wear it for a few hours. My 65L - Comexim » Irish Coffee Biustonosz (335) with RC and LG fits me perfectly in the wires and doesn't rub in my armpits! However there isn't enough cup depth for me either! Does anyone know if I can request even FURTHER REDUCED cups from @Comexim ? Or if I ordered a 60N instead would the bra be scaled down a bit or no? And does anyone know if @Comexim makes half cups in my size?! I've recently noticed that it seems like they don't and I want Joy so badly! Read more 125 more words
I'm actually going to be doing a blog post about Comexim/AP and my limited experience with them as a large cup girl, and I will be talking about the general needs there. So while I feel your pain (literally) I'm kind of glad I saw this because it reinforces what I'll be talking about (I'll be showing the post to Comexim cuz I heard they are looking for feedback). They understand they're not properly meeting the needs so I want to talk about what we generally do need.
Anyway, I have heard you can ask for a specific cup height, but I will say one of my requested alterations didn't even seem to be done and that may have been because it was impossible at the time. I was able to ask for a very reduced cup height that was fine for me but only because I had heard their default amount wasn't enough.
Thank you so much for commenting that really helps! I am always worried about alterations getting lost in translation! My recent order actually had 2 tags attached to it which I know is unusual for Comexim! One had the size and the other had the alterations. I hope they continue doing this so you know you are truly getting what you asked for! You aren't the first person I've heard say they didn't think their bras were actually altered. I have only ordered through a 3rd party so far because I am worried about the language barrier and the detailed alterations I need! I really want to be able to order direct but that concerns me!
Desperate times call for desperate measures. Today is a painful, tender boob day. All of my bras are technically 1-3 cup sizes too small and I have some swelling on top of that. I finally settled on my 30B - Gossard » Glossies Moulded Bra (6271) which is my largest cup bra by measurement. It doesn't give me ...a lot of support so I dug to the back of my drawer and found an old, stretched-out, comfy 34 - Wacoal » B-smooth Seamless Bralette (835175) .
Yes, I did the unthinkable. I layered the second bra over the first. Ahhhhhh, sweet relief at last. The softness. The slight compression. Uuuuuunf.
I have ordered three new bras in some different sizes to try out and they are taking forever to arrive. Right now my budget pretty much limits me to discounted/recently discontinued bras but I was checking out the Comexim site and lusting after several of those. Some day, my pretties.
I discovered my real bra size when I was eight months pregnant. Hah. Yes, I did go get fitted for a bra at a specialty shop. It was NOT a waste of money (I altered the band size later). Oh man was I beaming and relieved to see myself in that mirror, fitting so easily into a bra! I wasn't ...all out of control or trying to figure out why all the bras I'd tried on at regular stores looked so weird on me. It was an anita nursing bra. That was over three years ago now. I think with my expanded rib cage my size was something like a 42G or F I can't remember. Post baby I continued to try to find more bras my size and learn more about the magic of a fitting bra. I went from a 42band to a a 34G or F depending on the brand. Then I went through another pregnancy and even in the early days I couldn't wear my pretty bra, a lovely midnight blue prima donna. I couldn't breath trying to sing in church and couldn't figure out what was wrong with me until I unlatched my bra in the bathroom and was suddenly fine. I know there are extenders but in general I like to wear wire-free during pregnancy and after for nursing -for comfort if nothing else. Over the course of two years I got 6 more anita bras in varying cup sizes as I tried to figure out my true size there (it's 32J by the way). I have everything from my self-altered G to a J in that anita bra (all 32 band except the G which I think is a 35). They are so comfortable and durable I will likely keep buying them even after I'm done nursing. I also found "the one" in a regular bra middle of last year, the Andorra full cup in 32G (oh and then I was down to a 30 bandsize). I have three of them and just this month, surprise! They are getting too big. I know I've probably stretched them out with nursing but I can tell that it's more than that. My breast doesn't fill in the bottom of the cup like it used to. And here I thought I was sitting pretty with a "regular" size I could stick to! SOOOO I am starting from stratch and I'm pretty sure it's because I've started nursing much less as my youngest is 15 months now (oh and I'm done having kids). I remeasured today and though I'm still a 32, it feels tight. My leaning bust is 42 and laying and regular is 40. I used to estimate 41 but it just doesn't feel like that is what I am anymore. I'm guessing I'm something like a 32FF or 34F, which is fine by me. Some brands, like Fredricks, carry up to an FF I believe and it would be really awesome to be able to buy a bra for 15-25 bucks for a change! We shall see where my size goes next! Onward! On this website, we look more at breast perimeter than over-the-chest measurements, or at least I do. I wear a 32J, so I'm looking for cups that are 13-14 inch depth . . not a US J, a UK J.
Oh, but I cant imagine finding a $15 bra that fits . . . I'm thrilled enough when I can get one for $35 or so.
Try E-bay :) I normally only pay $20 a bra unless I buy Comexim and than it is about $40 max.
Not getting much response to my Panache Sport fit check over at r/ABTF this holiday weekend. Surely I'm not the only one who spends holidays shopping for bras! I need to find my tape measure so I can get fit help here. I'm in the middle of moving and I know I packed it somewhere...
It certainly looks shallow. Have you tried grabbing the top of the cup and shaking, to help your breasts fall deeper in to the bottom of the cup? Thats been helping some with my envy. It still hurts too much to wear more than 5 hours tho
dbmamaz Unfortunately that doesn't really do anything. It's like a reverse s&s since my tissue is very soft.
I actually saw that same size, 32BB, in another Huit bikini as well. Is it supposedt to be the same as 32C?? I am confused.
hmm it may be a mid-size? Not quite a b not quite a c? or the joys of Amazon's crazy sizing ideas
