Listing notifications
Why do I get notified on a 34GG bra being listed?
I don't think I set up notifications for that size. Anyone else get notified about bras not in their size range?

I do this a lot with Bratabase, this week we got a huge traffic spike for a few days. I checked where was that coming from and it is a lot of people from Russia :)! Some blog is spreading the word there so we're not getting data from there. I think this is pretty cool.
FoxTaylor you have a blog?

I blurred the addresses, no fears. Tomorrow I am going to visit my local post office and magane the shipping.
Also as you can see I keep on being enviromentally friendly by shipping out bras in carriers, present totes and reused envelopes

Give away question, maybe a dumb one, but I'm a noob, or boob, or both, lol. When you list a giveaway, I understand that the shipping will be reimbursed, but who typically pays it up front? I'd imagine it's usually done one way or the other, but I haven't given one away or received a giveaway yet so ... I'm just not sure. I've listed a giveaway and I have an interested party requesting and that's as far as I've gotten, lol. Should I just go ship and then submit the shipping cost info to the site? Or do I get a quote for shipping and send that to her and then she asks for the reimbursement from the site? I'm sure it's easier than I'm making it out to be and I assume that either way would work. But I'm just curious as to what is typically done by most.
Also, on a side note but still related, do you typically give your giveaways to people who just joined the site a few minutes or hours prior to requesting? Does it matter? I know the reputations are shown, but if they haven't put anything into the site, measurements, profile pic, review, question, nothing? This isn't a spectacular bra or anything, so it really doesn't matter to me, but truthfully I did have another person request and it was the same thing where they like just signed up with their account an hour or less before requesting and then never posted anything else. I know the whole goal is to have measurements, reviews, and bra fit info for people so I didn't know if there are people who just create an account to get a free bra or 2 and then never come back or post any info. I would imagine there are, but maybe it's no biggie. Again, just trying to get the hang of all this and I apologize for so many questions.
Thanks!!!

You calculate the price of the shipping, message Jj (the admin) with that number and he will reimburse you :)
So I do that before I actually pay it? Or after I ship it and pay it? I may not have even read that right. I was thinking that it was done after the fact, so maybe that's totally wrong and if so, then my question is really silly lol.

For those shipping bras to others from the US, what is your preferred method for shipping? Do you usually just use the USPS (post office)? If you do, I can see using the plastic type or bubble wrapped type flexible envelopes to ship an unlined bra that can lay totally flat and not have any damage done to ... it. But what about the molded cup ones, push ups, etc? How do you usually do that? Maybe those flat rate cardboard priority mail boxes? Or do they survive just fine in some other kind of package? I'd assume you stuff something in the cups to try to maintain the cup shape as best as possible. What are your preferred materials for doing that? Paper towel? Packing peanuts? Just curious. I am a complete and total noob to buying/selling/trading bras and I guess I'm just trying to get all the logistics figured out.
Thanks in advance!!!

For molded, I used to fold the cups into each other and stuff plastic bags inside so that they'd at least maintain the curve. I think I used a bubble mailer. It works, and it's cheap.
Really, though, I prefer boxes for molded cups, just so the material doesn't get mushed and wrinkled and there's no chance of the underwires bending. Flat rate is too expensive. Just find a sturdy box (preferably a small one) and use first class shipping. Most bras aren't over the 13 ounce limit (closer to 8 or 9 in a small cardboard box).
Edit: Forgot to mention, all of this pertains to USPS shipped packages.
Ok, great! That's what I was thinking, that it'd need to be at least be some sort of cardboard box to keep it from getting crushed. One of the more stiff paper bubble mailers might keep its shape if it was stuffed well enough in the cup but then I think they will still charge you "package" rate for anything over a certain thickness anyway.
Thanks again!

I really want to swap my 32F - Marks & Spencer » Ceriso Polka Dot Silk (Exchange or sell £8.00) and 32F - Cleo » Ellis (7211) (Exchange or sell $20.00) for some other 32F/30FF sets. Anyone? I am open for suggestions!

sorry I don't wear your size.
Since I ship a lot I wanted to share with you a few tips on how to reduce shipping costs by saving on envelopes.
1) Use plastic carrier bags: put the bra inside it, wrap the plastic around it and secure with tape. The packet is now both water-resistant and ready to have a mailing sticker pasted on. If your local ... post regulations require the packaing to be stamped with a rubber stamp by the post officer, stick a piece of paper on the packet.
2) Turn used envelopes inside out and use them again.
3) Print mailing stickers on used paper.
4) Other things that are great to be used instead of envelopes: present paper bags, opaque plastic folders,, pizza boxes (use only the clean pieces of cardboard), sturdier carrier bags etc.
You are welcome to add your tips!

In Australia it's possible to post your unpadded bras as a large letter, making it quite a bit cheaper than posting as a parcel. (It's $7.50 Aus for a large letter and about $14 for a parcel under 500gm) I don't know what the exact rules are for other countries, but here at least, if it fits through the special checking slot, and it's under the maximum weight, it's a letter. Even bras of the size I send fit nice and flat in an A5 envelope.
OH! I know that in the US 3-4 padded bras or several unpadded bras fit in a kids shoe-box! That usually costs $5-7 to ship - much cheaper than the flat rate boxes.
Also, wrapping a single bra in a few plastic bags and then putting it into a yellow envelope will only cost $2-3 for a padded bra and only $1.05 more for tracking!

I follow a few people and apparently a few people follow me. But I don't know what that means! I decided to follow some people because I thought they were knowledgeable and I was hoping to learn from them. Besides, following is COOL! I just don't know why. *laughing*
I hope someone can explain this mystery to me.

LOL. I don't know why either. I think it's because I liked their bio or we have something in common, or they have really helped me out in a big way. Also, people I like trading with I usually follow. :D
@Jj will explain for you =)

I have a bra that I want to add but I can't see the size in the tag anymore. I have all the measurements and I know that I was able to wear it prior to my breast surgery so I could guess at the size but I am not 100% sure. I bought it 2nd hand so ... it had been faded before I got it. It is a Lise Charmel and I wanted to just plug in the measurements to search and see if it shared the same or similar measurements with an already listed bra but I've only found one other Lise Charmel shown in the bratabase and it doesn't have a lot of info to compare with. I tried to enter the bra's info and list "unknown" as the bra size or just leave it blank but the form won't accept it. Has anyone ever had an unknown size when adding a bra here? If so, what is the preferred method? My guess is to make an estimate based on the other bras I have that I was able to wear when I was that size. Unfortunately my band has never been sizes wrong so I was just wearing cups that fit as best I knew how and having loose bands. Basically meaning that it is probably somewhere between a 30 and 34 and that would obviously determine what the cup size really should be listed as.
To make matters worse, I am not sure of the model name. I did actually email the Lise Charmel company through their official facebook page with the help of my trusty Google Translate, lol, and sent them pics of the bra to see if they could tell me what collection it was from. They just let me know that it is retired and no longer available, lo. I don't think that I was able to communicate with them very well so they may not have understood the question.
I can't wear it anymore so I was going to list it but I'm not sure how to get it in my list of bras. HELP!

What does it look like and how long ago did you buy it, approximately?
wendybien it is one I haven't been able to find anywhere online. I don't have any idea when it was produced or purchased, unfortunately. I bought it at a resale shop earlier this year but I had breast surgery about 6 months ago so I haven't been able to wear it since then. I have gone through all of their collections that I've been able to find catalogued online going back as many seasons as I could find looking for it and I just haven't had any luck finding it. It's been pretty frustrating because I'm usually pretty good at investigating and finding things.
When I bought it I just thought it was a pretty bra and it "fit" well enough then so I got it. I didn't know a single thing about good bras then so it is kind of funny that the only "quality" bra I ever had I bought without realizing it.
I don't see a way to post a pic without being able to upload the bra itself. I'm still learning the site so maybe there is a way.

Why are the Wonderbra Ultimate Strapless bras listed under separate listings that are divided by cup size?? So strange!!
It is because the brand itself uses different codes per cup size.
The Wonderbra Ultimate Strapless Bra (9341) comes only in G cups.
If your bra has code 9339, then it will be an F cup.
It sucks, but that's how they do it. We need to have them separately as well, because when a user enters the bra she may type in the code, and if we don't have different entries, she'll create a new one causing confusion... it is a difficult decision. Our stand is to try to stay true to what the manufacturers do (crappy as it is).
I just got a vintage (well, relatively vintage) 30FF - Curvy Kate » Tease Me [showgirl Collection] (SG2001) and I am DYING rto get my hands on matching panties! Does anybody have those? I tried ebay, but the only auction there is is hosted by a guy who does not respond to emails even though I requested a total several times. Anybody?

I just got a PM from a user with no bras and no rep and no info about themselves asking me for pictures of me in a bra. They also wanted to know what the fit was like for me. I told them to read the reviews starting with my own. They said the reviews were nonsense. They so asked about my bra size and said they needed to see pictures to know if the bra would fit them. Crazy since they hadn't listed their bra size and why would it fit them just because it fit me?

Ok, let's do a little test. Do you have bras that you'd like this xmas? (or just anytime really)
Make a new list called "Xmas wishlist 2014" and add the bras/sizes you'd like. Then paste the link to it here in a comment.

I just completed my Bratabase profile - all bras are as close to 100% as possible, and all the bras that do not fit me at this moment are listed. This has been 3.5 years and 90-odd bras in the making. Woah. I spent the bulk of my night trying on every single bra in my house with my current ... measurements. There are now around 20 (?!) bras in my rotation that only fit in my drawer because some are ready for laundry. There are 6 or 7 others that are away for repairs/alterations. My living space can finally stop being consumed by bras!
I suppose it won't last long, as I'll be receiving three more bras in an exchange any day now...!
I currently have 34 listings in various sizes - mostly 30-32 DD-FF, a few 34D, two 36D, and a single 32G. Maybe you'd like to take a look? http://www.bratabase.com/profile/1fc/listings/ - I'm so ready for more trades
My addiction. ahhhh <3

Hmm.
Debating starting a trend for swaps where we send each other invoices for $0.01, just to have Paypal's system automatically keep track of the USPS-shipped items for free.
(Not really a "Bratabase" topic, but couldn't find a different category it fit into.)

Out of curiosity does stuff get lost in the mail a lot? I've sent and received packages from the USA, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Poland, HK, China, Chile, the UK and have never used tracking. It's always arrived. I had one package take two months but it finally got to Korea.
Actually , I had one user on here tell me she never pays for tracking. Even if you say no, they slap a tracker on it (for their own purposes I'd assume) and on the receipt it says PID or package ID. That'll track it. I've started doing that too and it works. For international, the customs number kinda tracks it

Thank you so much, Darlin!! I'll be looking for them!
Did you get the notification for my Deco Vibe? haha
Paging Jj
This is the problem with the mess that companies make with sizing. That Deco bra is labeled as US size 34J. And on this listing notification: http://www.bratabase.com/listings/notifications/add/?from=ln
You have an alert for anything in size "34J". In a way, it is not wrong just not what you expected.
